Strained muscle or what?

Trained back a few days ago and the last two days I’ve had an immense pain in my lower back only on the right side. I’m running DMZ currently and was unsure if it’s just a strained muscle/back pump from the major increase in strength being 2 weeks in or what else it could potentially be? Hurts to push on and to turn to the left. Was thinking about getting some Taurine and see if that takes away the pain.
Here a rough view of where my pain is:

Sounds like muscle strain to me.

Strain. Wouldn't hurt to get adjusted by a chiropractor before you go back to training.

Most likely a strain. Chiropractor, foam roll, stretch, and cbd oil/cream. In the mean time train around it if you can. Don’t overdue it!

Also, take 1 day to mega dose the taurine. Give 10g a shot. If that doesnt work, no harm done.

Im gonna assume taking recovery time is not in your plans. So I'd use a slim width weight belt right directly on the spot that is strained for support during your workouts. The pressure can help keep it relaxed during workouts.

Thanks sir! 10g.. wow lol I was running 2g the last few days but I may give it a shot. It’s definitely not as bad as it was but I’ll look into getting a belt

Taurine powder is super cheap. If it works, keep your dosage at like 4 or 5 grams per day. You can split it up however you want throughout the day.

Take several 10 min walks daily. To manage pain you can try heating pad, ibuprofen, cbd, lidocaine, tiger balm, hot tub, etc, but relieving pain won’t undo the strain - you need to rest it.

If my erectors get strained, I will only do training that directly supports my back til it passes. Benching, seated overhead, legpressing, leg machines, chest-supported rows, maybe pulldowns if they aren’t an issue. Do things seated and warm up thoroughly. Wear a belt and a hoodie and maybe hot cream on the area.

As always, only train hydrated & take time to warm up. This is a priority for injury prevention.

Yo if you’re like my wife she always gets horrible knots under her sub-scapula. Go to a tissue specialist - if that’s what’s going on you can have that worked out in a jiffy.

I actually usually just do it by hand, you can feel the knots with your thumb if they’re present. Just put heavy pressure to the adhesion til it loosens. Laying on a lacrosse ball just right by yourself can work sometimes.
