Sooo yeah, I'm fat. Time for a change

Again, thanks for all the advice, I need all I can get.

So day 1 is in the books, 1 down, a lifetime to go :)

Reflections on today:

1. I can't remember the last time I had this much energy and I didn't have a single cup of coffee!
2. I'm having difficulty feeling full, but yet I'm not starving. So far, I'm just pushing through it, but any advice would help.
3. Broccoli isn't all that bad
4. I'm going to be REALLY sore tomorrow.
5. I don't like burpee's

Standard meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks in between of EAS protein shakes and 2 handfuls of pistachios.
Breakfast - 2 eggs cooked in EVOO, 2 pieces stone ground wheat toast with light butter, 1 banana, 1 Kashi fiber bar, 1 protein shake.
Lunch - Deli ham on stone ground wheat with low fat swiss and deli mustard, 1 protein shake
Dinner - Post workout protein shake, 1 cup broccoli, 1 chicken breast made with a low fat, low calorie piccata sauce (no breading on chicken, no butter in sauce).

Before bed, I'm going to choke down a casien(sp?) protein shake.

Workout

60 min personal trainer, various exercises focusing on legs and core.

Thoughts on the diet?

I have yet to look up my maint. calories, but it's on the list for tomorrow. I've also gone ahead and gotten a Body Media GoFit device that measures my steps, calories burned and hours slept. Figure it should tell me everything I need to stay on top of things.

Thanks again everyone, looking forward to tomorrow!

Your food choices are clean. macro's are off. I can help you figure this out so that you have a bit more structure and precision to your meal plan if you like. Also, there are unnecessary additions to your diet like sauces, deli meats etc.

To be realistic, not everyone can dedicate 100% consistency and precision to their nutrition. However, at very least they should attempt to meet their daily macro requirements. Whether one meal comes from nitrate/sodium ridden turkey breast or not won't make it or break it necessarily - however I think the frustration of less-than-optimal results is compounded by eating so-so quality foods and less-than-precise quantities of foods.

I agree with you 100%

it always amazes me when someone who says they are serious about bodybuilding doesn't own a food scale.

vance isn't a bodybuilder!

Yeah, i know, but alex's response reminded me of how many guys I know who say they are bodybuilders and are serious enough to go as far as injectible steroids, but don't really know what they eat. Then wonder (or even complain about) why they gain so much fat on cycles, or lose muscle when they cut.

exactly. This was more or less the point I was making..

so I'm back, LOL. Between work, travel and holidays getting anywhere near a computer has been tough..... BUT eating good and working out have been always there.

I'm down 9lbs, and it's freaking awesome!!!

I get excited over asparagus and have become a broccoli freak! The foods that I eat taste better than the over salted processed crap I used to eat. On a whim, I had 1 McDonalds hamburger. While delicious, what it did to me was crazy LOL.

I'm eating my fiber, watching my calories (almost hard to hit 2200, and as organic as I can get), and slugging down a ton of water, all while working out or jogging. I feel great, and feel great about myself.

Pics will go up when I'm sub 280, LOL.

Off to Richmond VA this weekend for a wedding, hardest part will be no BBQ. Thanks again to everyone for the support and advice. More details to follow after the weekend.

Talk to me, never heard of Macros before. I do own a food scale and started measuring what I'm taking in so I can calculate the amount of calories I'm taking in vs what I need to burn....

Definitely not a body builder......yet LOL. Just want to get fit and healthy.

Welcome back vance. wow 9 pounds you are getting there. keep up the good work.

Good job man!

I started REALLY training again and eating right (about Feb.) when I hit 248Lbs (5'11"). Crazy how food you used to eat makes you feel like crap now after eating healthy for a while. I can't even drink a soda anymore!

Congrats on the progress!!

thats about what i hit back in jan 07 i think it was. I'm right about 5,10. now im at 204ish, with at least 60lbs more muscle than i had then too.....

its a long battle, but winnable.

Well best of luck! And yes you are prob. gonna be sore 4 a few weeks if u train hard. Thats good though! Even after you get past that getting bck into shape hump u will find yourself still getting sore. That just means your still training hard, and your bodys natural response will be to get healthier stronger and bigger! Just dont over do it in the beginning or you might cut your fitness goals short with an injury! GL!
