So I got a friend who only lifts heavy at the gym. Why?

A proper mix of strength training and hypertrophy will help you reach your goals faster than just one or the other. Why people limit themselves to one "clique" of fitness I'll never understand.

Overall volume > # of reps in a set

I got a friend who only lifts heavy at the gym. He never really does high reps with lighter weight. We all know that in bodybuilding its not how heavy you can lift but its more important to focus on muscle contraction. This guy will just put the weight on as heavy as he can go and try to lift it as many times as possible.

Is his main goal gains in strength or what? I think me and him have different goals.

Your thoughts and opinions please.

I have asked him for advice and he says "Always lift Heavy and do low reps."

But I know that won't really do much from a bodybuilding standpoint if you only go heavy all the time.

Maybe you should google Tee Cummins or Dave tate and tell me PLing is terrible for gaining muscle.

This thread is full of lols.

PLing is an ego sport but BBing isnt? Right...

I think I'm going to start following all these crazy threads just to watch the BS and bashing!!! (Is that "trolling"?..... Eh, FÛCK it!)
