Snags gets ginormous with lean clean off-season dream bulk

phil heath would be so disappoint :p

Why? I'm a bit lost when it comes to what BBers discuss etc.
I stay on the crossfit side and athletics side of fitness. Not trying to draw any lines in the sand but I don't lift to become a BBer, just for health and sport, hence why I have no clue what you mean.

And yes, I said Crossfit lol.

Big snags is blowin up my fb news feed. Always in finaflex promo pics and ****.. :D
yeah I see I got tagged a few times there
lol

I don't take any issues with crossfit -- just with some of the ppl who say they do it, or with some of the accompanying ideas on diet/behavior that some cross-fitters show..

as for the heath comment, was just off-hand quip chris
some of these pro guys form would surprise you (ie 1/2 and 1/4 reps), and the idea of a "tempo" is a foreign and laughable concept to them
I tend to agree - I think tempos are highly overrated, when one focuses more on that than so many other things that are more important to growth

context .. is .. everything

in other news:
hitting a leg workout here today, gvt style..
good times ahead :smoker:

will detail my leg session in a bit - suffice it to say, they got mauled this day
ouch..

in the meantime, a pic of a meal
not the sexiest of fare, but nutritionally sound, and really tastes pretty good to me

5oz chicken breast + 5oz albacore tuna, topped with salsa
1/4c basmati rice
bell peppers
peppers
not pictured: 2 TBS almond butter
~640cals, 45g carbs and 20g fat

Snags - do you have a top 3 or 5 items that you believe are the key contributors to your continued progression and success? I'm just thinking from a bullet point perspective like: 1) diet, 2) training intensity, 3) consistent cardio, etc. As always, just holler if you get sick of all my questions - You know I'm full of them!

Why do you make me do math to figure out that that meal contained 70g of protein or that the MN ratio is roughly 40/30/30? I hate math.

Gotta admit sd you ask the best questions... I am also curious to know.

diet, and consistency in what I do
if I can isolate credit to anything that has aided my results most, would be those..period

you have 2 questions remaining for your thread allowance - make them count

leg extensions ss w/ BB box squats, 8 sets
DB SLDL ss w/ lying leg curls, 8 sets

rice mix was tasty, maneuvered my carbs a lil better this day just so I could have this for supper
~750cals, 65g carbs/75g protein/20g fat (totals listed in full just for dave tonight)

I know I need to use my last 2 questions wisely, but I've been thinking about your response for the past 24hrs and mulling over just how much impact this has. A couple more questions may show up below...

All of us following your contest thread and this bulk thread have seen you transform from a contest ready ~165lbs to a ripped, jacked and vascular ~215lbs. All of this in approximately 90-120 days. I imagine your years of training, conditioning and probably 'muscle memory' play into this transformation from the perspective of you having these pieces dialed in (you don't need to learn anything per se since you're already doing it all right) but, from your experience, the things that have contributed the most to your results is diet and consistency. The impact of that is HUGE! Especially for so many of us that focus on the latest and greatest supplements, training protocols, etc. Something as 'simple' as diet however, is the key.

So to encapsulate and simplify things here a bit:

Assuming that,
- You're training hard enough and consistently to elicit muscle breakdown and subsequent muscle protein synthesis
- You're potentially supplementing with beneficial compounds - including dietary and hormonal (either/or based on the users discretion)
- You're getting and maintaining sufficient sleep/rest periods

*** I believe the above items are relatively easy for most people to do and/or not mess up ***

Then, a precise, quality and consistent diet can and will take you to the physical conditioning level you desire.

Again, I think this should be so enlightening to everyone (including me - it kept me up last night thinking about it) just how big a role food plays. It seems to be greater than any other single component (aside from legit AAS).
Ironically, while we all mostly just see some pretty pictures of the meals you create (that all look stellar by the way) it's so much more than just a snapshot - you've essentially provided a literal road map here for those who are so inclined to mimic and potentially attain results far above and beyond anything they've seen before. I should take heed of this myself and change up my dietary habits to match my goals.

So, in the end here, it appears I don't have any new questions and my quota stays intact
But we end up with a long-winded recap that may, just perhaps, require a little more clarification from you if I've got something wrong ;)

Great stuff Steve - the value of this log you run is absolutely immense. Thanks for that

oooo you were flirting with a question there, I just KNOW you took time to phrase that one just right..
LOL

but yes, you summarize well my friend - diet is major (and I've said that before)....i'm sure we've all heard that saying "diet is 80% of our results" -- and that is not an over exaggeration, at all..everything we do, plays off the proper nutrition one should be consuming; and not just for short periods of time, but rather as a lifestyle

supplements supplement the dietary intake; training puts all the nutrition for growth/recovery to play; and consistency in dietary discretion day-in/day-out is what separates the men from the boys, the great physiques from just the average run-of-the-mill "big ol' boys" .. it's all on what you wish to attain with your physical appearance

it's not sexy, it isn't always "fun", but it is reality..even hormonal assistance can only go so far, without a solid nutritional foundation in place

master your own personal nutritional needs, and you are well on your way to mastering the whole game

*sidenote for clarification sake:
I did not drop to 165 sir, it was 175 - and that was not a wise move on my part, in the grand scheme of things..as low bf as I was, 180-181 was a realistic showtime weight for me, at that time...I also currently am only weighing 212, and I am not quite ripped :D (but I am on the way)

I can definitely attest that I've looked the best when I payed the most attention to sourcing all of my nutrition from clean, wholesome foods & paid strong attention to the macros. Right now I'm just getting big & strong, period, & that's fine for the power goals I have in mind (NOT looking better, just bigger). But I know that if I ever want to turn my strength towards creating a powerful physique I'm going to have to get more serious than I've ever been about my nutrition.

ahhh, but the reality is:
performance - as well as physical appearance - is impacted just as much by proper nutritional intake..
the philosophy of "well i'm dirty bulking, just getting strong" is a farce, and not a philosophy that I share nor will ever encourage
to each their own tho - I make no judgements, just have a firm grip of my own belief & ideas :)

anyway...another day, another different workout protocol thrown at the wall :p
maybe I wanna see how many differnet structures I can do in succession, before I end up repeating one, ahaaa..

tri-sets this day, 4 different exercises for 3 sets each, hi-rep, short rest periods between tri-sets
each tri-set was structured in abs/shoulders/tricep format

freaking toasted right about now

small lil sneak peek at the calves
I should be able to manscape wheels today, chest is already done

Finally caught back up.. Loving the updates snags..

And to SD- diet EVERYTHING

I absolutely agree with this ^

Just think it's amazing to see it taken to such a level as being displayed here. I've calculated, weighed, timed, etc everything in my diet before for fat loss purposes and can achieve very good results however, seeing 4k - 6k clean calories consumed per day to gain lean mass like Snags is doing is really something to marvel at. It's the ultimate goal for so many and very few can achieve it. Inspiring to say the least

pop tarts

F'n serious? Another reason Canada will never be my place of residence :(

We get the choc chip, choc fudge, and some berry flavor. Whenever I go to the states I try a new flavor or two. Ended up bringing a couple of boxes of those (pb choc) back in my suitcase - and promptly hid them from the kids lol

When I was eating those I would eat an entire box at a time.

Here it is guys! Time to get serious!

Why do you guys eat pop tarts? That **** is straight garbage..

I'd rather eat some rice, potatoes, or if i'm carbing hard- pasta..
If i'm really feeling breakfast carbs I'll go for pancakes..

you know tho: pop-tarts are actually the choice of more than a few successful bb'er, for postWO timeframe..
low in fat, right kind of sugar, and not too shabby on taste (if you go for that sort of thing)

as a lifestyle and healthy choice tho, all things being equal -- yes I agree with the fare you mention as preferable

all righty then gents, the Montana man has spoken..
log is being transplanted to run along with him as we do some righteous battle here this winter

come follow along for da fun

Tune for WAR muddafukka!
