You should lift in that meet close to you.
If you want to get good at competing, you need to practice that thing. It’s not enough to be gym-strong if you want your numbers recorded; you have to do them when they count.
And if you want to become the strongest version of yourself, putting yourself into open waters with the sharks is the best way to learn to swim - FAST. It will change your perception of what is possible, and plausible, as well as motivate you to try harder. Plus be an opportunity to learn hands on from those doing what you hope to do - see how they eat, hydrate, warm up, the nuances between techniques of different sized/shapes bodies. What they take, what they avoid, mentality on game day. To maybe discover a useful prehab or accessory movement that you never realized the application for, but could help you on your journey.
Nothing puts a fire in your belly to think about how you spend your training time than being signed up for a meet, and there’s no better way to get better at competing than to pull the bandaid off. Remember, you get to call your own weights.
Go, and think of it as a learning opportunity to train alongside the big dogs!
