Skinny guy started working out

My first post. Always getting good info so I decided to say thanks. I started working out seriously in January and without all the great info and great people here on AM, I probably wouldn't be where I am now. Anyways, here I am now. I know my diet sucks and I'm working on it and I'll take some pics of my walking sticks later. Please let me know what I could be doing better. Thanks!!

Edit: In January I weighed 148 and now I weigh 160...no idea about bf because I don't really think I need to worry about that right now.

Progress looks great! You're definitely doing something right ;) I know you said your diet is weak, if you post up what it looks like we can give you some suggestions/tips.

Everybody has a few favourite healthy snack foods that can let you get in those extra cals in addition to nutrients! For me it's my meatloaf-on-the-go :)

12 lbs in 4-5 months might be partly beginner gains (i.e. when you just straight a workout program) but with focus you can keep adding those pounds on no problem!

Diet

Like I said before, my diet ain't so good. In the morning I try to drink a shake consisting of 2 cups of nonfat milk, 2 scoops on ON whey protein, 2 cups (80 grams) oats, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, and 2 tablespoons of honey. I also drink that before I go to bed. Post workout I drink a protein shake with 2 scoops. The rest of the day I don't eat a lot because I don't have an appetite. I tried the Blackhole pills but they didn't seem to work. Any suggestions??
 
just eat anyways. Dont eat kuz your hungry eat bekuz its feeding time! i 4got who said that but its a good one though.
 
Supps

I bought the bulk CEE, AEE, and citruline malate from Nutraplanet and I was making my own pills but I stopped after about a month. I was megadosing fish oil but now I only take about 4 or 5g a day and a multi-vitamin. I know a lot of you hate it but I also drink n.o.explode pre-workout...it seems to help in the energy dept. That's about it...besides the protein post workout.
 
dont over kill fish oil. nothing wrong with no explode. i used to use it but i didnt like the way it sat in my stomach. Have you tried just using a weight gainer? instead of regular shakes. maybe that could increase the amount of calories you get in a day.
 
I was going to get some weight gainer but I am trying to force myself to eat "real" food. Obviously I need to try harder!!

i think you when you run out of your no explode you should look into Ragnarok by MST, ive used both and i love the rag! its also cheaper than no explode!

Agreed! I'm fairly new in this whole relam also... Now that I have my diet all tuned in, damn, it is hard to eat it all! Lunch and dinner suck the worst, but, it's just eating! Small bit of punishment to go through, to yeild great results!

all i now is when im eating my chicken and veggies and my girl is cooking up a storm for herself i just sit there and drool. thinking y am i doing this? lol

I'm in a bulk, and I go with whole milk, and the pb, and 1 cup oats 2 scoop protien, and it's like 1000 calories, f'ing aswome!
 
The shake I have been drinking is just about the same as you guys have suggested except I use 2 cups (80g) of oats instead of one and I also you 2 TBS of honey. As for the oral...I only get that one from the wife :dance: I read here that I should wait for a year or 2 before I go the PS route. I would try the Rag but I just ordered RPM so I'm going to give that a try first. I'm an entrepreneur (read: unemployed) so I have to take it easy on buying supps for now....
 
your hairline seems to have receded a bit from before to after. and your results are astounding for not having a diet that would normally facilitate such progress.

but great job nonetheless. keep at it, and show us pictures a few months from now.

Thanks Manimalia! It's a "Russian" haircut...All my hair is rushin' to the back of my head (that's supposed to be funny). It's a lot more noticeable now with shorter hair. I'm 31 and have a receding hairline AND a lot of white hair too. I think it's from my 10 years in the military...

nice im not gay observing you but, look around the belly button on the 1st pics. You can obviously tell he seriosuly tightened up his stomach and has a nice set of abs. Keep up the good work :)
 
That's the biggest visual difference I've ever seen 12lbs make! Kudos! You were lean to begin with, but you deff went from looking like a track sprinter to looking much more beefy and strong. Good ****. Very nice work man, keep it up, and if you really did not use an oral and are going to wait a couple years, BIG respect for that, I got no doubts by the time you do you will be a tank. Stay strong.

I really appreciate the compliments. It wasn't easy - especially since I don't eat enough. Maybe next year this time I'll do an oral but not until I get my sh*t straight and my diet in check. I think at this time, it would be a waste since I still have a lot that I can do naturally (even though I'm 31). It's really tempting to pick up some Epistane/Havoc since it seems to be pretty mild and people are getting good gains but almost everyone says to wait. :frustrate

I feel ya, there are times I just wanna hit the M Drol and go nuts, but I keep gaining naturally, I kind of want to see what my body can do, how good are my genetics? I got to deading over 600, doing 475 x 10 naturally, just eating a family's worth of food and keeping at it every day. It's all about laying as big and thick as foundation as you possibly can, before building a Castle on it.

Here's the truth, obviously people are envious of the progress you made, you would have been lucky to get those results running Epi / H-Drol, to do it naturally is even crazier, keep running with that momentum. Milk it for all it is worth.

i agree mate i would just keep doin ur thing for now, you are gettin ur diet straight so u will keep gaining!!! in my oppinion u should only go on to epi when u feel u cant gain any more naturally!! keep up the good work man!!!

Looks like you might have pretty good genetics. Get your diet sorted and your progress will get even better.

Thanks a lot but I'm not so sure about the good genetics...that's just my upper body you are seeing. My legs are really skinny but I have been doing a lot more squats lately to try and build them up. I'm trying to work on my forearms too.

I get my jollies in the gym seeing a jacked guy with 20" arms and can't squat but the bar with their chicken legs. Don't be that guy !:thumbsup:

crazy gains duuuudde. yeah if ur diet still isnt down, keep waiting and gaining dude. Obviously there is still more to gain naturally bro. keep up the hard work, i know its hard.

Good! Now get in that squat rack and do ATG squats (ass to grass). Leave your ego at the door on squats at the beginning, and make sure you don't have to walk all too much the next day after a leg workout. :thumbsup:

That's what I have been doing with just 1 set of 135x10 and then 2 sets of 185x8. I know it sounds pretty weak but in another 6 months, I know I'll be way past that. I really didn't know if going down that far was good but now I do - thanks!
