Sick of eating CHICKEN. Need some new tricks!

I have to bookmark this thread. I've been going tuna and eggs. when I'm tired of it I reverse the order.

JudoJosh - yeah canned pink salmon is the shizz

i dont really buy tuna cans i dont know why - i was told once not to eat too much tuna cause of the mercury levels you get in it as opposed to salmon (unless its the other way around?!?!)

anyway pink salmon in a can (depending on the brand / how its done) is really delicious on its own

150g of salmon = ~30g of protein - small and quick to eat

Farmed Salmon can have higher levels of mercury also, as opposed to wild Salmon. Just FYI.

If anyone is looking for recipe ideas check out the link in my signature. I'll be keeping a log of Zone friendly meals and updating it every couple of days or so.

stir fry a bunch of vegetables in soysauce, italian seasoning, and chicken boullion then throw in the chicken. Cook some oatmeal on the side and add in one splenda. Pout oatmeal on in a bowl, and then veggies and chicken on top.

So good. So healthy other than the one splenda.

I also make chicken and brown rice. Although, you must brown the rice with oil.
fry the rice until evenly browned, throw in a bunch of water and let it boil until rice is soft, you may have to keep throwing in water since brown rice takes a while to soften. Boil chicken on the side. Once rice is soft enough to eat, pour in 1 can of tomato sauce, salt, chicken boullion and chicken. Let it boil until water goes away.

This last recipe is not the healthiest but is still within the realms of reason if you just want something different, even if it bends the rules a little. Best to use this recipe on a cheat day or something.

for every cup of rice you use, add in an extra can of tomato sauce.

Fry up 8 oz., uncooked, of your choice of white fish and shrimp (8 oz combined) in a non stick pan on the stove. Simply cook in olive oil seasoned with Southwest chipolte MRS. Dash seasoning.

u want a good chicken recipe?

garlic powder, crushed pepper, and black pepper, u could throw in some basil on it too if u want.

either grill them, or oven bake them for 30-40 minutes on 350, and drizzle a little olive oil over them...

best chicken i have ever had in my life, i eat 1 every single day... ridiculously good

-and theres so much stuff u can do with chicken, make a stir fry, chicken tacos, chicken burritos, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas...

yea...but the stuff is literally $5/lb. That is nearing what a ribeye cost per lb. The thing to do is find something like top sirloin or top round on sale and buy 10lbs....get the butcher to grind it up (fine) and when you get home, maybe add a little olive oil , few bread crumbs as binder and make into burgers, meatloafs, etc.

Yeah just beef. 96/4 is readily available at Wal-Mart food centers. Haven't looked anywhere else for it. They have it at Meijer as well.

My latest chicken style:

*Cut chicken breast into bite size pieces.
*Bake in oven for ~25-30 minutes
*Let cool some, then mix in rubbermaid container with 2 parts Franks Red Hot - 1 par BBQ sauce of choice (or mix to taste.)
*Refridgerate and microwave when needed!

Simple and easy. The Franks is zero cal, zero carb so the BBQ sauce will be the only loose variable. It works to help add some flavor and dial down the Franks.

Chicken with multigrain pasta, broccoli and beans

baked chicken breast w/ wholegrain pasta and broccoli and beans

Here is what is needed:

4 chicken breasts
16-20oz brocolli florets (can substitute spinich as well)
1 16 oz can of navy beans
1 16 oz can of black beans
2 lbs Barilla wholegrain or Barilla plus penne or rotini
1/2 to 1 head garlic
Lawrys 17 seasoning
1/4 cup first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil
2 cups light chicken broth

Grill or bake chicken breasts sprinkled with the lawry 17 seasoning. Be liberal with this seasoning, it is very tasty and is salt free.

I recommend using a corning ware dish with about a cup of chicken broth, slice or mince garlic (use less depending on taste, i love garlic so i use at least half head, whole if it is small). Place un frozen breast in dish and bake at 350 covered with foil for approximately 35 min. (I have never timed this, so checked to see if cooked completely thru)

strain both cans of beans and bring to a boil in 1/2-1 cup cup of chicken broth. strain broth and discard ( you can use if you like, but too much and you will be making soup)
set beans aside.

Steam 16 ounces of brocolli, its easier to just by the "steam in bag" packages.

Cook pasta, and strain. (the wholegrain is a bit chewier so you may want to cook a bit longer than directions state)

cut up chicken into bite size pieces. set aside.

add 1/4 cup of olive oil to juices left over in corning dish, and simmer in sauce pan for about 2-3 minutes.

Combine chicken, pasta, beans, broccoli, juices, in large bowl and mix.

separate into meal size portions and freeze. I use 2 cup portions and I reheat in microwave for about 3-4 minutes when I am ready to eat.

Enjoy!

you fukkers get chicken in a can? Unbelieveable - that's a quick trip to arse-cancer city right there

I'm pretty sure you could eat canned chicked ED and never go to "arse-cancer city". Maybe you are thinking of nitrates, the stuff found in bacon, hot dogs, and other cured meats.

Problem with Flank steak is that unless you marinade it, it wont get as tender. Rubs are my favorite way to season...

Flank steak is still amazing for BB

For a healthy and creamy taste, instead of heavy cream, try the 98% fat free Campbells cream soups. My wife bakes with this, but she also will take a TBSP or so and add to 3/4 cup of rice, my chicken or ground turkey along with some broccoli. The best ones to use are the cream of mushroom, celery and the broccoli and cheese.

take your chicken breast, pound it flat. fill it up with a mix of goat cheese and diced olives, some thyme, and roll it up. pin with wooden toothpicks, coat the outside with extra virgin olive oil. salt and pepper the outside to taste.

grill in oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

all my recipes are for bulks :( sorry if this one doesn't apply to you.

here's my modified chili recipe, but i cook fairly hot, so go careful with the cayenne.

CHILI

INGREDIENTS

* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 2 onions, chopped
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 3/4 pound ground beef
* 3/4 pound ground turkey
* 3/4 pound beef sirloin, cubed
* 1 (14.5 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes with juice
* 1 bottle Newcastle
* 1 cup strong brewed coffee
* 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
* 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
* 1/4 cup packed brown sugar - sub splenda if low carbing.
* 3 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
* 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
* 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
* 1 teaspoon ground coriander
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans (dark)
* 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans (light)
* 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans
* 1 (15 ounce) can black beans
* 4 mild chili peppers, seeded, chopped.

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook onions, garlic, ground beef, turkey and cubed sirloin in oil for 10 minutes, or until the meat is well browned and the onions are tender.
2. Mix in the diced tomatoes with juice, dark beer, coffee, tomato paste and beef broth. Season with brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, cocoa powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, coriander and salt. Stir in 2 cans of the beans and hot chile peppers. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
3. Stir in the 2 remaining cans of beans, and simmer for another 30 minutes.

not really my recipe (just slightly modified), but the best chili i've ever had. P.S. if its too hot for you, add a couple squeezes of lime. lime will take away a lot of heat, but not everything.

I came across a good muscle and fitness magazine. you take a chicken breast drill through the center horizontally, stuff it with fat free (or reduced fat) feta cheese, and spinich. You then just bake it in the oven. I also used a ms dash marinade before hand, and its actually really really good :)
