Thats not what you said, that's what Sunder said. Sunder was quite decent in his approach...but that would be too much to expect from you, now wouldn't it?
If we ever go out, you'll have to let me borrow your shirt
Just so there's no misunderstandings - as it was quoted twice, I actually never said that. I take no offense to anyone dissing on a "sport" or "game" they've never tried.
I definitely did not find anything insulting in Mrs. Gimpy's opening of the thread either - it's a valid question.
Of course, since I played a large variety of sports in my youth, it would do me no good to take any personal offence with any of them. That, and I believe in freedom of expression uncensored, at least when done in a civilized mannor.
While I do think there is a certain amount of athletics and skill involved in curling, I think there are other sports out there that require MUCH more of it. I too actually question the validity of curling as being an Olympic sport. My only defence to it is based on some of the other "questionable" sports at the Olympics as well.
With apparently baseball out of the Olympics, curling does hold less weight I'd think. I personally like it in, but I definitely see how others may not think so. I wouldn't doubt that it partially depends on the tv ratings it gets, which equals $$$.
I imagine Equestrian must be really hard to do. I would probably fall off the horse and break my neck on my first try. It requires a certain amount of athletics and skill too, but I also question it's validity at the Olympics. (Because to me, if we allow riding a horse, then why not driving a car?)
On a side note, did you see those freestyle trick ski jumpers? This one chick had a broken leg/knee before the Olympics, and the doctors told her that there wasn't enough time for it to heal properly. She didn't want to have to wait another 4 years, and jumped. She ended up injuring herself on the landing, poor girl. I don't think I'd have enough guts in my lifetime to do what she did (injury or not). I got a little emotional when she was screaming in pain.
