Their is a possessive adjective so it must be followed by a noun. There is a noun that tells you a location or refers to something blah-blah-blah.

Here you go Corky. Actually, being retarded will make you fit in better on AM sometimes so don't worry.

How to Use There, Their and They're - wikiHow
I don't want to argue with you, because PP or TD may have us booted, but did you read what you wrote? And the nerve to use Corky against me.

Alright, go quote specifically what you think think is wrong. Holy shnikeys this is the worst OT convo we've ever had.

I hope Sherk can pull out the win. If I was a betting man I'd take BJ though. I still voted Sherk b/c it's free :)

I dislike saying 'never', but Sean 'The Steroid Shark' Sherk will not submit BJ Penn. He will also assuredly lose the stand-up battle, and BJ's TD defense is too formidable for Sherk.

This myth that somehow after being manhandled by both GSP and Hughes at 170, Sherk is some massively improved fighter does not make sense to me; he has had more success at 155 because of his overpowering strength and wrestling in this particular class, overwhelming lesser-calibre opponents (in a wrestling sense).

Sherk took Hermes to decision, and BJ's stand-up is much better, TD defense is better, is more dexterous, and is vastly more creative in BJJ terms.

MMAth does not work, I know this, but BJ is a better pound-for-pound fighter, at 155, IMO, than anybody Sherk has faced. Sherk will become frustrated early into the second by constantly being denied takedowns, and unless BJ has a BJ-GSP-esque cardio breakdown, he will take this.

I'm starting to think Sherk catches a knee on a telegraphed TD attempt and then BJ capitalizes by taking his back. An RNC or GnP follows. I'm a flip-flopper.

That's the problem with Sherk (and other wrestlers) striking - it's only 'subsistence striking'. You, I, BJ, Sherk, and the entire fvcking MMA world know that Sherk's only purpose in striking is to set up a takedown. That's why GSP's takedown rate is 80% or something ungodly, his strikes are dangerous and accurate, and pose an actual threat.

BJ's creativity will also stump Sherk. I notice that wrestlers train BJJ technically, as they don't have the 'feel', so to speak. In other words, they know where their hands and feet should and should not be to avoid danger in a strict sense, but the most expert BJJ practitioners don't necessarily pull subs out of classic positions.

Couple that with BJ's dexterity and ability to neutralize, almost totally, far better wrestlers than Sherk (GSP, Matt Hughes) and it does not bode well for Sherk.

People think Sherk got better, stronger, faster at 155; personally, I think his opponents got weaker, especially at wrestling, relative to his opponents at 170.

BJ by slick-ass sub due to wrestler-overzealousness, second rd.

He looks a little smaller in through the shoulders, but it coudld the pic.

wow that is a huge difference. "No, I have never heard of nandrolone" he is in for a world of hurt

Sherk was "randomly" tested a few days and pissed clean.
so. he is gonna get beat til the brink of death stepping in there with Hilo's finest. Man, i really need to find a Sherk follower here in Hawaii, im not a bettin man but i am when it comes to BJ Penn. When was Sherk's last fight how long ago? Its a big step just jumping in there again with the champ esp w/o added help.

I have experience with A.A.S, and that is exactly what happens when you come off...

In any case, I still like sherk as an athlete.

I think sherk is going to be in big trouble. His strength will be adversly affected. I doubt it gets out of rd 2

Even in Sherk's Nandrolone days, BJ would have neutralized his strength; GSP was far stronger than Sherk at 170, and BJ's creativity, TD defense, and dexterity were more than enough to stump GSP until the third round.

I just don't think Sherk has the explosiveness and range necessary to land a successful takedown on BJ. I was just watching his and St.Pierre's fight, and all of his double-leg TD attempts fall short as he sprawls to one knee and loses his drive. GSP is better apt to keep him on the outside like that, but I think the fight against BJ produces the same results.

I agree, I think Sherk's size kills him.

He does do shorter guys around the world a service by having a good MMA resume. Him and Serra prove that a smaller guy will kick your ass. Especially if your some tall big guy with no MMA skills who thinks he is tough. Yeah, they'll kicketh your asseth.

I'm a taller, decently sized guy who trains MMA, but yeah, either of those guys would pwn me.

I've said this before, but Sherk has very solid standup, which is underrated due to his wrestling prowess. His defense is excellent, though it may limit the power he can put into his strikes. Watch the fight with GSP again and you'll see that GSP could not really penetrate his defense on the feet, and his hands and feet were quick.

I agree with that somewhat. Many people say that Sherk is just a smaller Matt Hughes. While they are similar I think it's an unfair comparison (although to be compared to Hughes is no knock) and if you are going to compare them then all "wrestlers" could be compared. I think Sherk is better on his feet than Hughes. I also think Sherk is quicker and more explosive. Hughes is definitely stronger and I believe better in submissions and positioning though. Remember that Sherk's only losses are to Hughes and GSP, mostly b/c he was outweighed by 20 pounds naturally.

Seriously though, some guy was telling me if Randy and Fedor fought that Randy would sub Fedor early in the fight. When I gave him 5 legit reasons why that was extremely unlikely to happen, he told me I was an idiot and that it was his opinion and I couldn't judge? I just don't get that sh*t. Sometimes I wonder if the people I'm talking to even watch MMA or know what's going on while watching.

I had this exact same conversation with some dude at a party about two weeks ago. After a while I realized that he had only seen like two Fedor fights EVER...newb!!!

EDIT: Sorry, I'm all hopped up on muscle relaxers b/c my disc slipped again...I just realized what thread I posted in...

...umm...WAR PENN!

Careful with straying from the thread topic, Pistonpump will have you banned immediately.

That sucks about your back. I know that has been a neverending problem for you.

What annoys me about those people is that they have such a strong opinion on something they clearly know little about.

I disagree to a degree, can't you see (okay, enough Cat in the Hat). I was watching that fight earlier as well, and GSP lands a take down from a Superman punch about thirteen seconds into the fight, as Sherk winced and left himself susceptible.

I'm also not sure how much of GSP's hovering on the outside range is because of Sherk's D, or rather a conscious decision of GSP's to avoid clinches/dirty boxing/takedowns which at the time would have been Sherk's advantage (to a degree).

Again at about two minutes left in the fight, you'll notice the same scenario as before - he believes GSP is going for another Superman, pulls his hands high, and leaves himself open for a take down.

Sherk's 'D' is fine, but he does not know how to translate that into effective striking, or into effective take downs against a fighter with excellent TD defense. His punches, especially his jab and cross, are crisp and on point in normal position, but when he's going for the take down he switches them to meaningless overhand shots. Those seem to be easily telegraphed.

I think that when you look at common opponents and style, Penn is in a different class. To me the only way SHerk stood a chance originally was grounding out a decision, which is still possible. however, compare both of their fights with GSP. Sherk look outmatched and outclassed, while Penn really bewildered GSP, specifically on the feet. Many still argue who won that one (I say GSP barely).

I just cannot see Sherk in his new "condition" being able to do enough against Penn to make this that competitive. The way it stands now, Penn is awkward enough to be better standing, and is far and away better on the ground. I think that this could be easier and more one sided than people think.

I'd say he lost 5-8 lb's of muscle, and another 5-8 lb's of water.

I'll wait to see him come fight time to make too much out of it. There's another recent pic of him somewhere that I'll find. Sherk was surely off steroids for many of his recent fights since he's tested negative every other time. Maybe he timed his cycles better or maybe he wasn't on them. I assume that he hasn't used Nandro much before with the long half-life because he had less time between fights whereas he was coming off of shoulder surgery and a long layoff headed into the Franca fight. It would be pretty funny if he was like 150 walk around weight for this fight though.

Here's that other pic, but it's hard tell what's up with the fish lens look. This was probably older since he's not as lean.

Everyone brings up BJ's cardio. We should keep in mind that there is a world of difference in the cardio department when you fight up a weight class and the guy you are fighting is 20lbs heavier. Or does anyone think BJ was ever a 170lb fighter?

he has never looked that sharp physically at anything above 160 imo. he had a few bad fights that showed bad cardio. I think its blown out of proportion from that one matt hughes fight. The cardio will not be a problem unless maybe it goes past the 4th....which isnt gonna happen!

I don't think BJ's lack of conditioning was necessarily blown out of proportion; he admittedly trained his cardio very little in the past, and it hurt him.

With that being said, he has looked much improved in that department.

What do we think about Machida-Tito and Wand-Keith?

I'll pick Wand by KO and I'm actually considering maybe picking Tito. Can't really decide, but I think Machida vs. wrestler is a good test that we haven't seen.

Wand by KO and Machida by decision. Machida is too slick for Tito, he's getting better while Tito can't improve. It'll be interesting to see how Wand attacks when he has Jardine hurt, sadly we'll probably never get to see Wand brutally attack a stunned/downed opponent with his trademark soccer kicks and stomps.

I see Machida by UD. I think he will be too elusive for Tito and will frustrate him standing.

I would love to see a highlight Wand ko, and I could see him overwhelming Jardine the way Alexander did. However, I could see Jardine controlling the pace and keep Wand at bay for hte UD. But, gun to my head, Wand ko rd2

I really hope Tito doesn't lay on Machida for 3 rounds. Tito is much bigger so it is a possibility. If I had to pick though I'd pick Machida. I think he's quick enough to keep it standing and good enough on the ground to avoid any serious problems.

Jardine vs Wandy is a tough one for me to call. I personally think Jardine will take it. I think he's bigger and has an ackward style. I think Wandy will lose a close 3 round decision and then move to 185.

I just looked at Tito's record, and seems it has been forever since he's had a really good performance. He almost lost to a green Forrest, and even that was two years ago. I really hope Machida makes him look bad.

Wandy/Jardine is impossible to call b/c we have no idea how Wand will show up. He hasn't looked good since what, the Fujita fight? I'm a big Wand fan and will root for him in pretty much every fight. I hope he wins big vs. Jardine, but he's gonna need to bring back those knees that nearly murdered the current LHW champ.

Yeah, I think we all love Wand and want him to destroy Jardine, but we realize that Wand is probably declining. If I had to put money on it, I'd probably go with Jardine, but I really hope I'm wrong. 2 brutal KO's and a beating from Liddell is sure to mentally and physically tear you up, but if anyone can overcome that, it's Wand.

it really is a tough fight to call, if Wand is the Wand of old, Jardine might as well not show up. However, if he is what we have seen the last 3 fights, then Jardine takes it. Man, 5 years ago if this fight was posed as an option, no one would have thought Jardine would last 1 round

Machida dec, he has won 65% of his fights by dec and tito doesnt have a glass jaw nor weak jiujitsu. Jardine will win by dec if wandy tried to fight like he tried to fight liddel and stands still to eat kicks and counter punches with his short arms. Wanderlei by brutal knockout if he has his head shaved!

Wand needs to do 3 things to ensure a W:
1. Shave his fvcking head and show off the tat
2. Bring back the VT shorts
3. Use his god damn knees again

Ask Rampage how effective those are in a fight...
