I'm taking Sherk by Hughes-like survival of the first 2 rounds, an even 3rd, and then pouncing on a gassed BJ like Mullet on a drunk, fat chick.

My interest in this fight would only be second to a Fedor/Sylvia. I really hope BJ does a few laps around the track and works on his conditioning.

I'm going with BJ the lazy prodigy/da hui luver Penn on this one!

I accidently clicked Sherk, when I do believe it will be Penn. I think this fight will be similar to Sherk v. GSP
 
It's possible that Sherk will be smaller / slower and less cardio for certain reasons...


It's also possible Penn will have been training GPP cardio, which is what he needs to train.... until he can do 25 minutes of it moving a 155 lb load with 1 minute breaks every 5 minutes....

I'll be very surprised if Penn doesn't finish Sherk by the 2nd round. Any Sherk believers up for a bet?
 
Penn by submission using his legs and his awesome dexterity. Prior to that he will be winning the stand up too. Just my opinion.
 
penn owns the stand up. sherk takes him down, lands a few sloppy elbows and holds him down. he then over commits trying to prove something when the fans begin to boo him and penn submits him in round two.

Seriously though, some guy was telling me if Randy and Fedor fought that Randy would sub Fedor early in the fight. When I gave him 5 legit reasons why that was extremely unlikely to happen, he told me I was an idiot and that it was his opinion and I couldn't judge? I just don't get that sh*t. Sometimes I wonder if the people I'm talking to even watch MMA or know what's going on while watching.

That kind of stuff pisses me off too. Plus Randy's more about his Dirty Boxing these days then subs... If someone argued a win for Randy from any other aspect, I wouldn't agree, but it'd sound more legit, but subs... Randy's not even in the same realm as Fedor in terms of subs.

Yeah, it is quite annoying. People want to just say anything and not be held accountable by saying it's their opinion, what a copout. I guess you just have to realize they're retarded early on and stop conversing with them, because you're guaranteed to get nowhere.

The same guy also said Noguiera is a joke. I told him he was the current UFC HW champ and all the good fighters he had beaten in the past, he told me he didn't believe me, wtf. That's when I ended the "conversation." The guy wasn't a troll either, just a straight embicile.

It is a mess over there. I tried to post a bit when SHogun signed signed in the UFC, and the cursing that ensued was hilarious. Add in a bunch of negative rep points, and all hell broke loose. I am no longer there
 
Sherk is just too strong for BJ to handle. Even if BJ works on his cardio, Sherks gonna come in at 170+. I say ground and pound, ref stops it.

I feel your pain. The good thing about MMA before the TUF generation was the higher percentage of knowledgeable fans. Back when less people knew what MMA was, but those that did tended to be knowledgeable about the sport because it wasnt mainstream.
 
BJ will win the first couple of rounds, after that, his cardio is going to become a huge question. People talk about how SHerk has neutralized other BJJ wizards, but BJ has great striking, and more importantly, crazy takedown defense. If Sherk wins, it will be by endurance.

I do think BJ will come in shape though.

I wouldn't say that Hermes and Florain are BJJ wizards. Good BJJ, yes, but nowhere near the level of BJ.
 
IF Sherk wins, it will be by decision. I don't think the guy can finish a sandwhich, let alone BJ Penn. I'm taking BJ by a narrower margin than most think.

I agree, but Florian has been quite impressive, and I would rank him the #3 LW right now in the UFC. I think he has improved enough since his loss to Sherk, to give him a run. He wouldnt win, but it would be interesting

Seems like all the mma forums are filled with trolls. Rarely can you conduct any conversation without some ass ruining a thread. Keyboard warriors at their finest, no wonder pros rarely post to any forums anymore.

I don't think so, Matt Hughes is arguably stronger than Sherk and he didn't finish BJ Penn in a dominating fashion.

BJ has fought bigger guys.

I almost broke both of my legs log pressing last weekend when I dropped a 305# log from near lock out and fell back with the log just missing my legs as it crashed to the ground (there is only about an inch clearance when it sits on the ground. It would have been priceless to record. Scoony was disgusted I'm sure.
