Sean's Powerlifting Journey

You mentioned on IG that you were pain free though. Do you think the tighter grip helps that?

Pain free and confidence restored. Just gotta get my groove back. I think it was the slow descent helped the most. I was able to keep my back locked in. The tight grip just helped with the mind/muscle connection I think.

I'm butt hurt because my Bicep hurt so I went against logic and benched again. Focused on a slow and tight descent, and gripping the ****ing **** out of the bar. Warmup Lax mash pec/tspine/lat tie in Some RC stuff Cable rows supersetted until 225 Bench Bar x15 95x12 135x10 165x5 185x1 225x1 245x1 275x1 +2 Board 275x2 285x2 285x2 Invalid Link Removed Barbell Row 225x5 275x2x5 225x2x5 Dumbell OHP/Banded Pushdowns *Zero rest 45x5x10/AVGx5x20 Hammer Curls 25x5x10

Flawless form on the bench there.

What tools are you using for Graston?

Only done it myself a couple times-some fancy blunt serving knife, and a rounded edge spoon. Going to my Chiro for it next week.

I'll try those and look into a chiro. I've been wanting to see one regularly anyway. Thanks Sean.

NP I'd definetly recommend a Chiro doing it over yourself though. Watch some videos and do some reading for sure.

I haven't read any yet but watched several videos on it. I've never heard of it until you said something, which is surprising. You'd think that would be very popular amongst chiros and regular massage therapists.

Well painful as **** isn't always popular haha

Real Graston tools work so much better, and especially with someone else doing it.

I will next time for ya. Have to move some crap around for a side shot. I have one from the side from Monday on a friends phone and my shoulders were wanting to get in front of bar, which I feel like it happend with the 585. Your thoughts?

When you lock your knees on the pull, it looks like you do it at the expense of bar and hip positioning. The bar looks to be slightly ahead and hips slightly behind. It looks like that's the reason you tend to stall around that area because you have to muscle the weight up with almost pure upper back strength.

Makes sense. I'll get some side shots this week if I can make it to the gym.

I have a graston pamphlet like deal i will post later tonight when i get home! I had a clinical that there was some therapist doing graston! Anyway fyi: the true graston tools are super expensive! Like 2k-4k expensive

Spoon is my favorite tool for Graston, you can put your thumb in it and hammer away.

Damn right I do! lol I did 90's today and didn't, but only did 2 sets. Facepulls too. Why do I forget to log stuff lol

Okay cool, bc I was only doing 40's today and was like "I don't think I'd walk very far with much more weight" lol

915 @ 220BW is nuts.... But do you guys think the depth was suspect? Only reason it's worth mentioning is because IMO if you set a WR it should be with zero doubt

I don't think that's a good screen shot and we'll have to wait for a better quality video to surface, but I will say it's borderline.

Yep, front view is deceptive as hell. Someone like Eric lillebridge looks high all day from the front and is at depth from the side.

KB Armbars & KB TGU's

McGill Pull-up/Ab Rollout
BWx10x1/BWx5x10

Dumbell Side Bend

Did this get cut off? Is there more

When your wife, that's so pregnant that if you even look at her wrong she may go into labor, asks if you want to go to the gym, even if you don't want to, you say yes, and get the **** out of the house.

I did some hip traction and lacrosse ball mashing, if that makes my workout seem even cooler.

Didn't have the usual Sean shock and aww like u did what weight for how many reps on that? Maybe just add u did 100 reps of lacrosse ball mashing lol

Just had to give u sh¡t is all buddy :-)

haha gimme all the shît you want, man. I'll take it. however, 50 total reps of rollouts has me feeling like crap so at least I accomplished something.

Deadlift Deload tomorrow. 0430

Went to an SPF meet at Chris Janek's new gym yesterday and handled some buddies (one's first meet, just 132!), and it's amazing how heavy the guys are compared to you squatting your numbers, Sean (and they're definitely not tested athletes either). The only raw guys getting under 710 yesterday were 275-SHW, and only a couple did it. Lots of Overkill love; first time I've seen one of their shirts up close and those wraps really were brutal looking. This is probably the fifth time I've ever been around Chris, and that guy really is a good dude. Hope he's able to move past AJ Roberts old record like he wants - if you guys ever get the chance to come through the STL area, it's a great power gym.

Your log is always such a blast. I never feel like I need motivation to train, but if I did I'd find it here all the time.

<3.

Ordered from Iron Rebel. Their cuffs come in half-sizes and are 10x more comfortable than the slangers. Ordered their Anaconda wraps as , as they were only $25. They won't be a 2/3rd attempt wrap but they're still strong. Pretty much the same as the Titan Titaniums but maybe less stretch.
