Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Never met anyone whose rehbands that didn't last forever. Mine have to be close to two years and still seem in great condition. Wash them frequently as well. I do want some SBDs though haha

I went too many sessions without washing those Rehband briefs. I realized it was bad when I still had sweat in them from a week prior.

I air them out after I use them and keep dryer sheets in them (I do this with my squat and deadlift shoes as well).

Dang that's actually smart. I'm too lazy so I just toss them in my bag so they start to smell bad quick.

Trick I picked up while I was fighting. I would put 2-3 sheets in them after sparring because those things would get funky. Like sweaty stripper funky.

Jesus, don't check the thread in a couple days and miss 27 pgs.

I like the inzer black w red stripe wraps, and the little Filipino freak of nature I train w wears leggings too...

Appreciate the input fellas; this probably obliterated this 2nd Predator cycle, but it could be worse I suppose. Guess I'll just have to drop pressing this week and try things out gently next week and see where I'm at. Probably do some limited range and/or light stuff if I'm able - perhaps OHP won't be a problem and I'll just be able to switch focus to that? That would be awesome. I've been LOVING all the bench/pressing/tricep work. I can actually tell my upper body composition has improved, off-cycle even.

I have a pair of Titan's that are still holding strong after about a year or so.

Same - the logos have finally worn off, but I wash them every so often. I got them when I was ~200 and now that I'm 220 they're like competition tight, but they've certainly not blown out or gotten any weaker.

Still an easy day, though 6" is completely different than 4". Terrible starting position. Moving to the floor afterwards was an absolute mind Fûck as well.

Your recap made me lol. Good day tho. I agree with the assessment of 6". My 6" block max is like 485x3 and my lumbar was sore for a week. A far cry from any other pulling height I've tried.

I had the perception of being on a 6" deficit once I got to the floor. I pulled my first rep an inch off the ground and dropped it thinking "why the hell am I having to get so god damn low"

pullin for ya napalm! Feel better, bud!

Yup, right around Toledo I started talking incoherently. The wife got me to pull over and I almost crashed. She thought I was hypoglycemic - I didn't eat but half my sandwich and that was it. So she gave me a protein bar to get my sugar up.

Well it did, to 317, so hypo wasn't the problem. Called my doc, he said go in and yeah, mini stroke and now diabetes...

I'll kick diabetes ass and a mini stroke? Pfft, it's gonna take more than that...

Glad you're alright, man. Nothing can keep you down

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that man.

A friend of mine had a the same kind of stroke recently, he's doing OK now so I'd bet you will be alright.

Txs jimbo, the neurologist is coming in tomorrow to go over the ct results w me. Tbh, I'm more worried about the diabetes.. It killed my grandfather and literally ate my cousin. Kid started losing toes, then feet, then btk amputation, then above the knee. Took both kidneys and all of his fingers before he died.

On the same floor I'm on now..

My dad was a diabetic, insulin dependent. I'm not sure if that's what kind you have, but he was always OK. Just had to make sure to carry candy on him.

Yeah, I prolly won't find out those details until tomorrow. Fasting glucose on the morning, that'll give an indication of what I'm in for.

Now that we have that out if the way, where's this vid of Sean on espn?

Damn Napalm, get better! You are a tough son of a shut yo mouth so I have faith. In Napalm we trust!

Thanks Robbie

Hope you do better - glad you were able to see a doc when you did. Looking for a glimmer around the cloud, if you have to start pinning slin you can most definitely use it to push some recovery and growth. That most definitely won't hurt your lifting, if you can stay on top of your bs.
Sean1332 borrowed super loose Super Katana and Titan shirts from a work buddy to try some floor press tomorrow w/ this pec tomorrow. They're so loose I can pull them on myself over a tshirt, but they're still so mean I wonder if I could touch a 3-board. Should be interesting.

Hyde if you get back into benching by shirting up for floor presses, you're gonna have a bad time. Trust me when I say you won't be too far from where you left off if you rest it for a month. Now is a good time to go hard and heavy on overhead work. That always helps with the raw bench.

So you're saying it's better to not bench at all than floor/board press in a shirt as an accessory on pressing (now OHP) days?

I will most definitely prioritize OHP, prob strict barbell one day and maybe seated db or barbell another, but you think half-benching is a bigger drawback than no benching? I'll trust your experience here, I just wanna be clear what your advice is.

It's better to go raw on floor presses than to throw on a shirt. It'll likely offer little support and put you in a bad position since it'll be working to throw you into protraction.

Id only shirt up if you bench groove is amazing. Benching with your whole body and mostly triceps. Keep in mind ull still get a lot of pec work by stabilizing in the shirt. Id personally just focus on ohp and assistance that doesnt bother it if you cant bench without pain now.

Seems like a slingshot or similar device would be better than a shirt for working through an injury, or even doubling a band and making a ghetto slanger.

Or just let the irritation pass and heal

For SURE. I was doing reverse band slingshot stuff and that only made me really sore for very little benefit. With a shirt you're gonna need a bunch of weight on the bar and your pecs will be in use. There is literally nothing you can do via exercise to speed this process or directly improve your bench. So you might as well play it safe. Six weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
