They could easily use a bowflex in space to maintain muscularity
I think a lot of the exercises that they currently do include resistance bands. I don't see a bowflex working properly in zero gravity though since those cables are attached to weights. That doesn't change the fact that for a majority of the time their bones, muscles, etc. aren't under the same constant pressures due to a lack of load requirements (gravity.)
Yeah I didn't make it sound all sciencey but space is something I think about a lot.
Unless we can create an artificial gravity that keeps are bodies under the constant pressures that we endure on Earth, we will be subject to atrophy in our muscles and even more importantly in our bones. I'd hate to land after a mission and fracture my tibia.
Right now I think a big hurdle to long term space travel would be to design a practical artificial gravity...this would also be a reason that colonizing the moon will probably not happen by the 2050 deadline that some scientists have suggested.
From you guys are suggesting, SARMs sound like a step in the right direction to help to improve the quality of life for Astronauts who have endured extended missions in space.
I really, Really, REALLY want to see the colonization of other planets. And yes, I'll take the moon as a good 1st step. I'd do that sh*t for free. Seriously.
