Good luck bud. I haven't gotten to the point yet where I want to give that a shot. I do have a team competition on the 1st of December. I'll post the link later.
Let me know how you did.
Forgive my ignorance but what will you guys be doing for the comp? I know a little bit but why guess when I can ask! Am

I've been to a few comps. They usually run the gambit with all teams pairs (never been to an individual one) getting in at least 4 or 5 workouts. The first one is almost always high cardio, like a 5k or a crazy row. After a break it will prob go into a heavy lift challange (bench/squat, etc.). They are pretty fun any you can see some crazy good athletes, and usually some pretty bad ones too.

Yeah, can't find that deal anywhere so I had to jump on it. Plus, I couldn't quit before giving the strength biased program a try.
We have lost him forever ;-)
I'm hoping to lose the rest of this fat forever. Not much left now.
I'm not letting go.
now that's the spirit!
I'm in.

I posted a link above to what the workouts are. Off the top of my head, the first workout is: 10 20" box jump overs 15 thrusters @95lbs (men) 65lbs (women) 30 double unders And it's a relay, so one person finishes before the next goes. Workout 2/3 are combined. 12 minutes of rowing for distance while establishing a 1RM deadlift. (one person rows while the other three lift and you switch off) And workout 4 is some horrible workout that I'm not looking forward to.

I'm excited to give it a shot. Now I have to line up a strongman meet and a powerlifting meet.

Interesting. Curious how you will adjust your training brother.
So am I. I don't know anyone who competes in strongman around these parts, or if there's even a facility that caters to that. It's ok though, where I'm going there will be strongman guys and facilities so we'll see.

That's what I am hoping for. I have teammates for this upcoming one. I know two of them, but one I am unfamiliar with. I hope she can pull her weight.
Whew, we haven't lost him...yet...
...and never will. I'm trying to find a way to be well-rounded, well-versed and semi-good at everything. I want to be a jack of all trades, master of none, literally (although it would be awesome to win some shlt).

I like that too para. I'm still pretty active and sports and enjoy my sprinting. Ill never be competitive again at this body weight but it's beneficial none the less. I'm an out doors and sports kind of guy so it just benefits my lifestyle. I have no desire to be overly huge. Just extremely strong and mobile for my size.

Nice another little guy. ;) But your an X-fitter, meh. ;) J/k. Nothing but for respect for what it takes to succeed in this regard. Never understood the hate from the PLers towards Xfitters. Perhaps a little envy. ;)

Sub'd to learn.

that's an interesting philosophical desire
there is something to be said for that kind of profile tho..
not so much a master of none, as I would like to master the basics. I guess mastery represents "nothing left to learn" in my eyes, and I always want to learn something new. Most "jacks of all trades" that I've met leave lots of things unfinished. That's a trait I don't desire to possess.

Same here man. I just want to be functional in all aspects of fitness, whether it be lifting heavy (relatively speaking) things, or running long distances at a decent pace, or understanding nutrition and dieting enough to be able to change my body composition however I desire.

Yep, I'm not a big dude. That's not the cloth I was cut from, although I'm much bigger than I was a few years ago. I also don't truly consider myself a crossfitter, I've just been doing crossfit. I'm not sure that it's envy, as I've seen some of the personalities associated with crossfit and many of them leave a lot to be desired. I guess that comes with any sport, as I remember Tony Hawk being an absolute prick when I met him in the mid-nineties. I consider any activity in life that involved passion to be subject to zealots, and I think it's the zealots that hate. I like most anyone who will work out with me.

You're larger than me right now, so don't mistake my comment of being critical of your size.

And totally agree re zealotry and hate. Between the extremes lies moderation and virtue.

No, I didn't take it as you being critical. Compared to the other reps for FINAFLEX, I'm a little dude. Hell, compared to a lot of people I'm a little dude. I'm ok with it too. I was 137lbs when I joined the Army, imagine that. Funny thing is, I'm just as fast as I was then (almost) and I'm over forty pounds heavier. Even at my peak weight of 196, I could still run two miles somewhere in the twelve minute range.

Yep, that's the goal for 2014. One of each type of competition.
If that is the goal then I know it will be done!

Yeah but what you plan to do was the original catalyst behind crossfit. Being fit for all activities no matter what life threw at you. I remember the first time I ran across crossfit way before it became a big thing several years ago and reading the site and mission statement. Now it has definitely commercialized quite a bit, but the original intention was to be able to excel in all aspects of fitness and functional fitness.

Impressive. I think we may be like minded fitness wise, though I aspire for what you've already realized. Now that I have skimmed down, and my time is freeing up, I plan to get in killer shape, mind, body, heart, soul. Anyhow, pleasure to meet another scar victim, lol.

And fwiw, I don't feel small even at 165 lbs. Just smaller than my past incarnations. But short, for sure. And you ain't small either.

Cheers dude.

I think you can tie a weight on the end of it and it will grow over time... That is what some tribes do in Africa.

Yeah he wants you to show him the Fill Monte!

Short is all relative. When a man feels small he makes himself small. When he is confident in his stature it is a completely different story as far as how he is seen by others. There will always be some that point out height as a negative but those people are small themselves... Just my opinion.
haha, thnx, i guess I'm just used to being around all my coworkers and a few beasts I work out with, so I'm always playing catch up....somehow I never seem to get taller tho!
Me either. I think I am one of the few guys I know between 5'8" and 5'9" that rounds down instead of up. Height can't measure my worth so not worth my measuring.

Cross xfit, lol, ironically meets Henry Rollins, man of iron and other hard stuff.

Looking good, but pull up your pants to cover your hard wood flooring, lol.

You look more than 10 lbs thicker than me, particularly in chest, and about as lean, imo. Good work.

"Small" is a relative term though. I don't consider myself puny, but when compared to the likes of you, Steve, Montana, Edje and many others on the board, I'm not a big guy. As far as actually being small, I was small a long time ago. I've graduated a bit.
So wait I'm small?
I wouldn't say so. You're quite a bit bigger than me from what I've seen.

I know the feeling very well. Although I'm a bit taller than you and may not experience it as much, at 5'9"-5'10", I'm still not tall. Tall enough for me though, as I drive a small car and don't have to search long and hard for pants.

Rollins was and still is a stout dude. He's also 5'9".
Monte asked for full frontal, I aim to please.
Thanks for the compliment. My last weigh-in I was 175.9 and I estimate I'm carrying some bloat since then (been traveling).

I see you're actually 5'9", so we are probably pretty similar thickness (I am closer to 5'8", thanks to some serious DDD and leaky discs, causing shrinkage; I say 5'8.5" in my log), as my normal weight is around 168-172 (since a recent diet), though I am 164 right how. But you still look thicker than me, IMO.

I think you actually look like you train for power, with the developed neck, traps and front delts. Nothing like a super-high rep, cardio bunny ;) , that looks like a power guy. Impressive that you can run 2 consecutive 6 min miles. I'd be lucky for one at that rate.

You're definitely in good shape -- and certainly not small, by any reasonable estimation. I'd say a very developed meso, with average height, maybe an inch below.

jinxie, he definitely has done some training for size and power to develop that yoke. He has only been doing the X-Fit for the last 6 weeks or so and was in the 190s and relatively lean already.
