Rocky Balboa... who saw it

Checked it out last night, and while the premise of the movie isn't that of slugg-fest preparation, but of life in the latter stages and how someone deals with that life, I thought it was really good. More emotional then I thought it would be what with Adrian gone and all. For some reason it still got to me about how some one can just choose what they want to do no matter what if they want it bad enough, even in the aspects of living life.

I think it gives the series a pretty stellar ending.

I saw it last night too. I think many people will complain and crack but if you loved the series this one will get to you too.

Mr.50

Agreed - very excellent ending to the series. Now, we can put the #5 abomination behind us.

I loved it, I'm a huge Rocky fan and I loved how he re-introduce some characters from part one. I found it a little creepy that he was trying to pick up a woman that he used to walk home when she was a teen and he was in his late 20's LOL. The ending was freaking awesome ! The speech he gave his son gave me chills up and down my spine

The speech he gave Pauly, when Pauly told him that Adrian "Left him" got to me. The beast inside was just a cool metaphor to describe his anguish.

I don't think he was trying to pick up the girl, cause he mentions in the movie that Adrian is still there and that he would never stop loving her. It was just him trying the re-connect and hold on to something in his past that he longed for..... the past. He took her in and took care of her for that reason. And yeah the speech with his son about taking life's hit's and still moving forward was just awesome. I think Sly even acted really good in the movie.

It's Pauly, and he definately tried to pick up that girl, she even kissed him the night before his fight.

I have mixed feelings with this one. Went and saw it with my pops over the holiday and he said it was the worst out of the series and I personally place just above rockie 3 and below 5.

The montage was cool, because of the fact that he was just lifting and not chasing chickens or dancing with a ball or using a rope/pulley system. But that training montage and the fight just seemed short to me. The absolute best part of these movies are the training and fights and when they take up less than 1/10 of the movie it is somewhat disappointing.

It had a decent storyline and I loved seeing parts of my city in movies, but it just wasn't my personal favorite (i'll still buy it the day it comes out on dvd).

Ok, its been out long enough... I am a Rocky fan, But with my little girls and a new promotion, I will not get to see this movie for along while ... So please... Some one pm me how it ended or post it up on here.. Did he win the fight, or did he take a beating ?

Thanks...

i hate the fact that i know that website exists...but i use it for the same reasons you might need it...when you want to know what happens in a movie but dont have the time...

I just saw it today with my daughter and I must say that it's much more emotional than the previous rocky movies. After the movie I had a great workout with the rocky song playing in my head. IMO it ranks up there with rocky I or IV.

this one scene he's reminescing about adrian near the stairs and then she pops up and mouths some words and the next scene she's gone. but i was like, whoa! I got freaked out a little when she popped up.
the fight scene was pretty neat. sometimes he gets hit and makes that where'd-that-come-from look and i figured after 52 fights he wouldn't be that shocked everytime a jab hits him but yeah, it was still cool.
steps was forgettable.

The part where he revisits the skating arena they went to in 1was pretty tough to, but the kicker to me was his breakdown in front of Pauly that got me. Also, the only dissapointing thing about the movie was that, unlike the trailer, there was no "Eye of the Tiger" theme anywhere.

Eye of the Tiger would have kicked a$$ but if you look it at closely, the movie was pretty much like part 1. Here's my breakdown on why.

1. Rocky is pretty disappointed with his life.
2. He gets an unexpected chance to fight an overwhelming champion that no one wants to fight.
3. He loses a tightly contested fight but still accomplished a lot despite having.
4. The song at the beginning was from a scene in part I that the street musicians were singing.
5. He re-connects with his son just like he did with Mickey in part I.

You should write movie summaries for Entertainment Weekly, that's pretty good. I didn't even catch the beginning theme connection with 1 until you just pointed it out, I new it was there in the series just not sure where.

when i started training years ago for hockey and baseball i used to listen to all of the rocky them songs... now i just watch rocky one to get ready for the gym. does it every time.

rocky balboa was awesome, i think it was movie of the year.i,m a big fan of all the rocky series and watching the movies as a kid inspired me to start training. stallone was in increadable shape for a man his age and watching him do the training scenes was insperational. roll on rambo 4,i cant wait:squat:

I think a majority of us listened to some rocky tunes in our days. I know I use to be a fanatic about eye of the tiger and pretty much every song in 4. Watching rocky get up a 6 in the morning, drink some eggs, and start running the railroad tracks gets me going to.

B is that the sub title for the movie?

not sure, my training partner and I saw the first rocky 6 trailer back in october and that's when we first heard Duke's quote - "So what we'll be calling on is blunt force trauma... heavy duty punches that'll rattle his ancestors... let's start building some hurting bombs."

from there on we nick named our training sessions "blunt force trauma" and before each set is was "let's start building some hurting bombs"

needless to say our training sessions went threw the roof!!

So I saw Rocky VI the other night, and walked out impressed.

I thought the story, characters, general mood was faithful to the rocky series. I also feel the movie did not loose anything from Stallone being 60 years old, just as rocky was still able to put on a helluva a fight, stallone is still fully capable of playing everyone's favorite fictional boxer. If anything, this movie shows he has become better at it over time.

a couple gripes I have though:

- training montage and fight were too short
- the transition of rocky's focus from steps to his son left steps feeling pretty unforgetable
- I think a kiss on the cheek or hug would have been better from little marie, than the gentle kiss on the lips (although I understand it was not meant to be romantic)

i was hoping for more training and more fight scenes. The flashback and changing from color to b/wto the orangey color didn't do anything for me. Still better than 4 and 5 but to me not better than the original. But I'm old!!

For you guys that love the soundtrack. They just released a Quasi-best of soundtrack called Rocky Balboa. It has all the best tracks from 1-6 with the three6mafia song from this one with also a few little inspirational sound bites form the movies. "ADRIAAAAN!!!"

Also, I personally liked the training montage. Sly is one vascular SOB. If that was him lifting, it is impressive for a guy his age!!! This was the first one showing him just lifting hard. Could have been longer though.

Good clips b. The first one doesn't work though. I've seen it anyway. It was part of a promotional campaign for the release of InStone.
