Red Sox 2009

Oh Brian; remember 2004 my friend. I could care less about winning the division. The wild card is just as good in the end enroute to a world series championship (The sox have effectively demonstrated that). Yankee fans seem to forget they lost 8 straight games this year prior to this series (3 straight series sweeps). That's a feat more impressive than this past weekend. Our offense was absolutely horrible all weekend. It won't last, i can promise you that. We still meet 6 more times this season. The AL East race ain't over till it's over. ;)
Oh I hardly forget John..."The Horror!".

Yes, the WC is a ticket to the show, and I am in agreement that the division is simply a minor milestone to the prize.

This year it does seem that the Yankees have an overall better grasp of the divison and the Sox may need to focus on the WC. They have been on quite the slump dispite their 8 consecutive wins against the Yankees.

Ye, the division is never over 'til it's over. After that the gloves come off - old school :)

The Yanks took 8 straight losses themselves over the first 3 series (all in which the red sox swept them), so don't forget that little tid-bit. I'll still take the 8-4 record against at this point. ;)

They're in a slump. Plenty of time left for MANY things to happen. We're headed back to Boston now to regroup and get back on track. The Red Sox are a very talented team; it's a matter of time before the funk lifts.

I'd rather take 8 straight losses in the beginning of the season, than lose 2 series back to back and get shut out for 30 innings.

Sox have no balls anymore. Your cleanup hitter is washed up, and your best player plays for Los Angeles... Just sayin.

I hope that 8 game domination of the Yankees keeps you company in October.

History has taught you nothing, has it? A team that's been down in the playoffs 0-3; after being blown out the night before; comes back to beat the Yankees (and finish the job in NY)...and the Red Sox have no balls? It's funny; no team before them had done it; or since then. Please Timber, they wrote the book on "balls". Just sayin'...

This is baseball, and things can turn around rather quickly. There is still over 1.5 months of baseball left, and the playoffs are a whole different beast in itself. Let's take a look at the "great" yankees recent playoff demises, shall we? That should say enough in itself about my point. Don't count chickens before they hatch...;)

well, all I will say is lets hope to see each other in October to settle it. As of right now, October runs through NY

Seems a small taste of success has allowed you to forget RedSox history. You guys are notorious for the greatest post-All-Star break drop offs. You forget that we just about owned the AL East for over a decade? You forget that we owned the ALC for nearly as many?

Let us not forget the truth in the history :)

Just sayin'....:D

You forget: it's a new millenium, and a new decade. :D

Red Sox 2 - Yankees 1 :afro:

Giggity, Giggity, Giggity....Al-right.

I admit, we do look very bad right now, but i'm hopeful we'll get it back together here in the coming week. The offense looks completely apathetic. A big series against detroit at home starts tonight, so we need to break out of the funk at home.

Let's Go SOX!!!

First the bad news 2004 was 5 years ago, also no one really cares about what happens in April-June. Now is what's up, your bullpen is the one not getting it done and your bats are flat. On the other note Joe Morgan may be a little pompous but when you've had a career like the one he had and played on one of the best teams in history, you kinda get that way. Other than that the other bad news (for the rest of the league) is that the Yankees are still just finding themselves.:mischievous:

Are you even from Boston?

Pedroia wanted to wash my ass for me, but couldn't find a tall enough stool... Just sayin.

I mean, the 3-0 loss was devastating, but at least we scored a few runs. You just got dominated worse than any team in the history of baseball. 30 scoreless innings.

That was also 5 years ago, and the two teams are completely different. As I said before, your clean up hitter is a washout, and your best player now plays for the Dodgers.

Born and raised in Connecticut (25 years); very much a New England state, so yep, I'm a Red Sox fan.

Trash talk is one thing, but you seem to like to jump that line. Quit being a d*ck, it's getting old.

How am I jumping that line?

I swear, Boston fans are the most rediculous tribe on the planet. All fun and games until your team plays like the Erie Seawolves for a week and a half...

Cry.

Frank, success doesn't give you an excuse to be that way. He chooses to be that way, so i'm calling it like i see it. I echo the sentiment of many others in this regard. His head is stuck so far up his azz i wonder if he can see the daylight...

As for Boston, it's not good right now, but i'm confident it will get sorted out. If we have to go after the wild card, i'm fine with that. The playoffs are a whole different beast in itself.

Says: "The yankee fan"

BTW: The AL MVP "Dustin Pedroia" may be a little guy, but the numbers certainly speak for themselves, and i'm glad he's on my team. Now you're just being a hatah...

:chairshot:

I'd prefer Cano. Better numbers, all while batting lower in the lineup - and much better defense...

Oh, and no pedophile genetics.

Joe Morgan, John Miller, Tim McCarver and Joe Buck are all godawful accouncers who are deserving of a punch to the throat. I'd almost rather sit in silence than listen to those d-bags call a game.

Lol - Once again: says "The Yankee Fan". I guess they must have grossly overlooked that in the MVP voting then, eh?

Maybe you can send this pic to Cano; i guess he didn't get the memo:

How are you going to bring up this issue when it has nothing at all to do with Dustin Pedroia himself? That's school yard childish bullsh*t right there, not smack talk.

Joe Buck is the only one i can really tolerate. The rest: a punch in the throat. :D

I did in fact have the sound off watching the game last night.

There's nothing like being back home to help get you back on track.

5.5 back...

I haven't seen someone get owned this bad since Pedro Martinez head chucked Zimmer.

Hey, maybe Youk can't play ShortStop anymore, but at least he fights like one!!! :toofunny:

Anybody see Youk get tossed like a ragdoll by a rookie pitcher?

That is all.

Ragdoll? I think you're clearly fabricating the situation, because based on what i saw, it was pretty lame all around. If there are no fists, who gives a sh*t.

Better yet, we won the game.

If thats you call getting slammed by a 20 year old...

Youk is on roids, mad that he has red hair, and got tossed around... I'm surprised he didn't try to ninja kick the Rookie catcher behind home plate... Probably would have gotten his ass handed to him by Alvies too.

Be a man Youk... No heart even when he charges the mound!

Youk didn't do anything except throw his helmet and get slammed. Either way, I knew he was going to get nailed. It definitely sparked the team; however, how is that going to effect the time that he is suspended, meaning was it smart to get yourself thrown out for several games that are very crucial for the Post-Season run... for the WC? ;) I think not. And he will get an extra day or two for tossing the helmet, which was directed at his head. It wasn't a smart move, in my opinion.

The helmet was vindictive and dangerous... No different than bringing the bat with you IMO.

I'm telling you... I wish Youk would have charged Joba. Joba would have flat out laid his ginger ass.

Now you're just being utterly ridiculous. No different than a bat? What professional-based experience do you have in dealing with blunt traumatic injuries exactly to have such a claim?

Joba's fat azz should be running around the bases rather than running his mouth at any given time...

T you have to admit youk looked like a punk

Getting hit 2 nights in a row and we might have all acted the same. A blatant grazing of Victor Martinez the inning before set it up. It's part of the game in ways adam, and you know that. Why do you think Ozzie Guillen made that statement last week? I don't agree with potential weapons being involoved, but throwing at people in retaliation has been part of the game for a long time.

You're right... Joba should work out to speed up that 100MPH fastball... Maybe he can have Youkilis's training program so he can look like a fat car salesman too.

No different in that its a total b*tch move. Hockey players take off their gloves and helmets, baseball players remove their helmet and drop their bat. Otherwise, they are a *****. Period.

Youk getting hit was hardly a retaliation pitch. It was a young pitcher who lacks control, that and why would he want to get tossed for dinging a batter, when he had a good start to the game. Youk went up there with the mentality he was going to charge if anything was tight.

Spark to the team I don't think so, they already won the night before. It was an act of frustration.

I am not talking about retailiation, I was making reference more to him taking the helmet off and throwing it at him. I totally understand his frustration, however I understand the rationale that the tigers pitcher (forget his name) had. I personally would have had no problem if Youk (Who is one of 3 sox i like) charged without the helmet

I just have an issue with that giant red ape getting handled by a skinny rookie pitcher.

Here's the thing, Adam: People always seem to feel bad for the pitcher when things like this happen. The fact of the matter is this, I don't care if you're wearing a helmet to protect you; if you get hit in the head with a 90+mph fastball, the odds of serious injury are much higher than most people think. The concussion force alone is enough to do major damage. (i.e. Epidural Hematoma or Subarachnoid hemmorage) that can most certainly result in death.

It's just plain wrong that guys get thrown at to begin with, period. It's a matter of time before someone really gets hurt here, and it's not going to be pretty when it does. Do you blame these guys for being pissed? Hell no, you would be too. I consider a "Fastball" to be a significant projectile (and potential deadly) weapon when a pitcher is intentionally throwing at a batter. So then it's wrong when the batter throws a freakin' helmet? Give me a break man...

It's obvious all the red sox haters had to throw their $0.02 in trying to make some type of novel substantiated point. We can sit here all day long and speculate whether he threw at him or not. Based on the occurance with martinez the inning before, i'm pretty confident to say he threw at him on purpose. The perfect ploy too, eh: A rookie pitcher with "control problems".

It's not right for ANYONE to be thrown at on purpose. It's dangerous and stupid. I'm in no way directing this at you either, Adam. I think you probably see it for what it is in the big picture, and not a reason to trash an individual red sox player; I'm just talking out loud here in general.

And for those of you who say: "It was a rookie pitcher with control problems", I say: "LAME FUKCIN' EXCUSE!!!"

Of course you would say that John:laugh2: I will say this though, I don't think the pitch was on purpose cause it did absolutely nothing for the pu$$y cat Tigers who have rolled over 3 days in a row:18: btw, anybody remember Ron Cey from the Dodgers, took a 90+ mph fastball to the head from Goose Gossage in the "81" World Series, was not pretty. It's probably on YouTube

What are you still doing up, frank? :D

I can't find it on youtube, but i do remember seeing a clip of it years ago. Not pretty at all.

Either way, i'm glad that sh*t is over. We've whooped up on them the last 3 games (and the offense looks alive and well!), so i'm a happy camper. Beckett and Lester have been absolute money, and both look fantastic. The next month is going to be very interesting in the AL east.

I understnad "protecting your guys" no doubt about it. Keep in mind that I am a Youkilis fan (he is one of 3 Sox I would love to have in NY) however my gripe was throwing the helmet.

I see the dilemma with hitting someone on purpose and the fact that porcello is appealing is a joke IMO, but it was in the back and didnt seem to do damage. Hell, both ARod and Jeter got hit yesterday.

I think at the end of the day, Youk tried to spark a team that got whooped up on by their arch rivals, and it worked as they have kicked the crap out of the "1st place" Tigers.

He's a starter now... Of course he's not going to pitch 100MPH when he's throwing 7 innings.

Get over it... AL isn't even baseball anymore, it's a competition of premadonna's :D

"I am more Madonna than you are" "Oh no you ain't" "Yeah I is, check out my girl pants"

Besides the fact... did anyone see the oh so classy Cubs fan throw a beer on Shane Victorino when he made a catch?

Guess it hurts always losing.. have to take it out on someone!
