Recovering from torn labrum

What is a reasonable expectation of recovery from a partial torn labrum surgery? The tear was on the back side of my left shoulder. I had a small bone spur and bursitis removed as well. Any information would be great. I'm a little discouraged at the moment that I still can't bench without pain.
 
I had four anchors put in with my torn labrum, slow and steady with recovery for sure. Was back easing into actual lifting around 4 months in
 
I've had three labrum surgeries! Honestly the fastest I was back to 100% for football was 3 & 1/2-4 months. Take your rehab extremely serious, all those little shoulder exercises pay off! Now that I'm not hitting people every day my shoulders are healthier than ever! Not to mention I hit a new PR on bench yesterday. Listen to the docs, work your ass off in rehab

Being patient and working hard is key to recovering from a labrum year! Plus u said the tear is in the backside of the labrum Correct? I've had a front tear and destroyed 80% of my labrum, 6 hour surgery and a 4 inch scare in my armpit, stronger than ever!

1 month after surgery and you're able to do all this? You're doing great then. I wasn't able to do all that! But maybe I was too protective
 
One thing I wish I had done differently was to have purchased a home TENS unit during rehab. It's been a lifesaver for me.

Yes. He is amazed at how fast I am recovering. I have actually been back to the gym since two weeks out of surgery.
 
That's great. Just make sure you're following his recommendations for how aggressive you should be. Good luck with your recovery!

Wow, I would be nothing but encouraged with your recovery. I blew my shoulder out in baseball, had 6 anchors to re-attach my labrum, fraying of the rotator cuff and front/rear capsule reconstruction. I was in a sling for 8 weeks and then didnt start rehab for another 8 weeks. One word of advice, do not push to hard. If it feels weird, back off and give it a slight break! Great work so far! GL

Thanks for the advice. I am encouraged with how my recovery has gone so far. I haven't had any for physical therapy through this. My doctor gave me some stretches and band work to do. He also is amazed at my recovery. I was back in the gym 2 weeks after surgery. I'm just starting to feel some of my strength return and I'm experiencing less pain by the week. I'm off for 4 days now. This should help some. Have a great weekend!

I wish my rehab were going so well. I had 5 anchors put in. But had a torn labrum, a tear in the subscapularus and my biceps tendon. It has been slow and painful. But the therapy is important out of everything I am doing.

Wow. That's a bit more then what I had done. They thought I had torn my bicep tendon as well. Thankfully I hadn't. I still have a little pain, but I'm learning how to exercise the area in such a way that the pain is minimal when I lift heavy. I'm close to being back to where I left off when I got hurt. It's been about 18 weeks since my surgery. Stay at it and don't get discouraged. I keep a notebook so I can track my progress. Any progress from week to week should encourage you. It may be an increase in weight or reps. Either is good. Just be consistent and the progress will continue
