I have a question for you!!!!! What are BBers looking for in a Meal Replacement Shake? ie - Muscle Milk, as an example.

I am curious as to what qualities that you feel are the most important?

If you don't mind taking a moment to let me know, I would appreciate it.

Muscle Milk is absolutely horrible.

Design one like Instone Intake Performance, or Prolab's Lean Mass Matrix.

You'll surely have a winner.

I would have to say, for me, it would need:
Quality Protein Source: (WPI, Micellar Casein, WPC, etc.) Just a good mix of both fast and slow absorbing protein
Good Taste:There's really no need to go exotic with these, just about any flavor ATW has come up with would suffice
Good Carbs: No Malto or Dextrose. Carbs coming from oat or brown rice sources. Also a healthy serving of fiber.
Good Fats: Just a good amount of flax or omega-3s. Only a couple grams for those watching fat intake.

Also, it would need to have a Macro breakdown of 40/40/20 P/C/F
Just me and my 0.02. :D

I like Up Your Mass, for example, though all that fiber isn't always so kind to my intestines. For example, I don't hit an Up Your Mass shake before I go to the gym to deadlift or do squats!!

:jaw:

I agree with UHCougar05 as well. You don't want empty cals like sugar.

Built-in oats and flax? I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Just about the only two things I consistently add to my whey now.

A replica of Prolabs Lean Mass Matrix cinnamon oatmeal at a better price, with no iron and you will rule the earth :box:

Oh now don't tell me you never cut one loose in the gym when straining to lift some heavy weight, esp after a big old protein shake!!!:fart:

Seriously, though. I looked at ATW's MRP/gainer on the web site and way too much sugar/carbs. I'm very happy with your protein tho!

He doesn't lift enough to strain...

:gas:

(I kid because I know him)

I think a decent MRP shake has to have carbohydrates which are low in GI, not proccessed, and aren't constituted fully by various types of gums (xantham, guar, etc.,) Couple that with a high quality protein and you'd make alot of people happy.

(Not me, I don't like shakes)

I like the idea of basing it on a 40-40-20 split

- quality range of proteins (starting with isolates and ending with caesen)
- quality carbs (oatmeal, supercarb-esque)
- fiber (insoluble and soluble)
- quality fat (flax-also adds fiber, enova)
- digestive enzymes
- a nice BCAA mix would be good

Now I say the above, basically a cheaper version of ergopharm - mass meal

Add some anti oxidents and you'll have a winner above the rest, i know i'd stock up!

I seperate my protein by absorbtion rates. I like to use a fast absorbing standard 50+gram (high in BCAAs) pure whey protein like Isopure during the day to get quick results, however before bed, absorption rates are less relevant, so I like to use a whey/egg albumen mix like Optimum Pro Complex due to the fact that it covers a more broad spectrum of amino's. Also I really like flavors that give you the option of mixing with either water or milk.

All in all though, these are the standards that I use.

(1) High amounts of protein (50+)

(2) High quality extraction/isolation methods.

(3) No Aspartame. (Sucralose is fine)

(4) Price.

(5) Taste.

(6) Mixabillity.

low fat, 30+g of low GI carbs and 20+g of protein would be a good start.
