Post Workout Shakes

What’s the recipe for your favorite post workout shake?

just started ( 3 days )

cholate protein shake 1 scoop
2-3 whole eggs
1 large banana

usually i have a kind bar with it

Are you using the eggs for the fats?

im not counting any macros .. its mainly my breakfast .. working out way too early and don't like to eat before gym ... so i throw em in shakes.

if no workout day .. breakfast is 3eggs + avacado usually.

I actually prefer to chew something after working out. So mine is:

Rice
Honey
SELECT Snickerdoodle Protein
Cinnamon

So i cook the rice and then add the other ingredients and eat it.
The combination of the two different carbohydrat types increases the absorbtion speed.
Also i taste freaking amazing.

This is interesting. I have to try something similar to see how rice and protein powder taste like. Isn’t it too dry?

Gotcha. I know the body is supposed to be able to absorb the protein from raw eggs better than if they’re cooked. Who knows….I’m just trying to get more ideas. I’m bored with my usual shake

How much cooked rice? About a 1/4 of a cup or more?

Actually in some rice it turns into a soup. It seems to all depend on which protein and what kind of rice.

Basmati Rice and SELECT Protein gives me the type of concistency I enjoy.

i hear ya .. always good to mix things up
and i like the rice idea.. never thought about it before.

1 scoop protein powder
1 serving creatine
1 serving greens powder
1 tablespoon raw honey
1/2 cup oatmeal

Yeah I’ve never heard of the rice thing either. I’m going to try that

i remember rich piana used to put rice krispie's in his shakes ( for that sugar ) so thats another option for extra calories + sugar spike post

Yeah I read on another thread about guys adding cereal in their shakes. I can see how that would be beneficial in post-workout recovery since that’s the best time to get sugar and simple carbs.

I've heard some people drink soda (i.e. coca cola, pepsi etc) post workout. Is there any merit to it?

getting 35-40G of sugar for that insulin spike .. same with gummy bears , or planet witness giving out tootsie rolls lol

only time i drink calories is once a while energy drink ( even those come sugar free i guess ), or beer def beer

I remember in the past people used to insist on taking 50-100 grams of dextrose post-workout but then there was a huge debate on whether taking dextrose made any difference versus eating wholesome carbs like steel-cut oatmeal.

Adding a caffeine to your post workout has also been proven to speed up glycogen replenishment. So it might be something to consider. Ive not yet tried it myself.

You know there was this Japanese bodybuilder (years ago) who used to blend raw chicken with eggs and drink the slurry post workout  Now that's hardcore and very dangerous!

Gonna use this meal when I bump my cals back up to maintenance. Just snagged a tub of snickerdoodle PES too.

Idk why but this recipe sounds delicious 🤤

2 scoops protein powder (currently using a chocolate flavored one)
1-2 bananas
Almond milk
peanut butter or PB Fit peanut butter depending on my macros
creatine
hand full of ice

This always hits the spot for me post training.

I do a scoop of whey isolate mixed with almond milk and some pecan butter, or just a scoop of the protein mixed with coffee and a little cream. but im on keto so gotta keep carbs near 0 for mine.

Damn I’m basic asf compared to y’all.

I just do 2 scoops of strawberry protein, 1 3/4 cup almond milk, frozen strawberries and blend lol. Gonna have to try adding oats or even a banana to that. I think it’s time for a new flavor of protein as well

Try Chocolate Plant Protein Smoothie

Method: Blend 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, 1 banana, and 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder, Pour almond milk and ice cubes on top and shake for a while and start drinking it.

I used to be very basic regarding my protein shakes before but this thread actually made up my mind to try out new and interesting mixups. I’m definitely gonna try all of them now.
