Possible sprain

Back in the first week of March I did some push-ups on a Dynaball (push up and overhead press). Its the second time I did the exercise. It’s weeks later now and I’ve been having a lot of pain in my left wrist where the thumb meets the wrist. Sharp pain when the thumb moves towards the wrist and other angles. Certain activities will cause shooting pain. I probably had my hands on the side of the ball too much. Is it time to see an orthopedic specialist for a cortisone **** or X-ray? I can work out but I can’t do normal push ups and certain exercises cause pain.
 
4 weeks later and it still hurts? Yea, time to see an orthopedist. Thumb and wrist problems can really get in the way, I feel ya brother

went to a walk in orthopedist on Saturday. It’s De Quervain's tenosynovitis (main tendon from thumb to wrist) that’s super inflamed. Got a nice thumb splint brace. Said I can get a shoit in 2 weeks if it’s still painful. Looks like I’m stuck with cardio and legs till it feels better

I’ve had scapho lunate reconstruction surgery, on top of several other wrist related injuries. One piece of advice I can give you is that wrist and hands injuries respond very well to being splinted- as in sometimes that can be the difference between needing surgery or not.

If I were to speculate, I think that the ligaments and tendons are so small that trying to push through an injury can easily go from a sprain to a tear that might require surgery
