I've been training for three months now and I just wanted your opinion on how you think I'm doing, i am really skinny so I joined a 24 hour gym and normally go around 2am when it's quiet, I try to eat well and drink plenty of water and I put my best effort into my training. The problem is I can't tell if I'm improving my overall physique as this is what I'm trying to achieve? Any advice is helpful, please delete this if its inapropriate, thanks Karl

Three months is not a long time to compare your own physique unless you are on a heavy bulk or cutting. In my opinion, since we see ourselves in mirrors daily, we do not notice changes unless they are dramatic. I am assuming you're trying to bulk?

Can you please provide more information? Beginning stats and current stats (weight, height, Body fat % if you know). Are you just interested in changing your appearance or are you looking to get stronger? If so, what are some of those stats as well? What type of training are you doing? Do you have any pictures? What is your calorie goal and how are you breaking down your macros? Answers for these type of questions may get you some very helpful advice. There are lots of very knowledgeable people in here. Good luck:)

Well you did the right thing by starting, that first step can be tough!

I think the number one thing is to have a goal. Short term, long term, something to work towards. Something quantifiable with numbers.

Sounds like your goal is to be big. That's what mine was at first! Ok, what's big? I started at 6' tall 150 lbs (on a good day) was really weak, too. Now still at 6' (lol) but weighing in at 197 lbs but on the verge of pudgy compared to a lot of the guys on here! Took years and lots of hard work, but I feel better, look better, WAY stronger, and am more confident.

One of the hard parts for me was eating. I was skinny cause I did not know how to eat.

Lots of good people on these boards willing to help!

Its only been three months. Theres a ton of variables to consider, age, training, diet, sleep and the list goes on. Like the other guy said more info is needed for us to tell.

That said, get a note book and start keeping track of your workouts and diet on a daily basis. Make sure each workout your adding extra weight/reps or sets. If your gaining weight good, if your not gaining eat more food. Every few weeks you can go look back at what you have been doing and figure out what adjustments you need to make. Set small goals. Something to achieve every month. The more you hit your goals the more excited you will be to reach the next step.

Sorry i dragged it out so much but works really boring today so i figured id give advice till i ran outta stuff to say lol

Yep, logging my lifts and my macros made a huge difference!

This is how I've changed since starting training, I'm now enjoying going, im still only doing compound exercises (squats, deadlifts and bench). I got a hamstring injury so I wasn't able to do ANY cardio for three weeks, but I'm slowly getting back into training now. Sorry if nobody's interested ;)

and some leg presses... if you want to work hammies more with the deads try doing it with db's and dont be afraid to do some high reps on legs.. maybe a 100 rep rest pause on leg press or so

When doing your deadlifts, make sure you add Sumo Deadlift and conventional.....you will benefit from both

Take selfies.

Literally.

Take a picture then wait a month or 2 and take another .

If you're a beginner this should be enough time to see a difference .

Give it some time and stick with it brother. What are you using for supplementation?

Agree with what's already been said -- 3 months can be a short amount of time to try and see differences. Progress photos (same place, same pose, same lighting -- keep it as close to the same for each picture) will really help you to go back and notice those differences.

Progress update - Im training six times a week now and I'm actually getting addicted to going!
Strength has increased noticeably from when I first started 5/6 months ago, just going to log some numbers do I can check back and see what I've achieved.
Bench press - 6 rep x 4 maxing @ 130kg
Deadlift - 6 rep x 4 maxing @ 130kg
Squat - 6 rep x 4 maxing @ 120kg

I know I'm still not eating enough, some days I have absolutely no appetite to eat, it's really annoying.

Thanks but that must be a really good pic because my arms are still small :(
sorry to bug you all!
I had the skinniest legs ever before I started training, my nickname was "chicken legs" lol.
Do you think they are still really skinny or can you guys see any progress?
