Peyton or Brady???

Ok...So I got into a huge argument with a buddy of mine the other night about Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. My question to you is...who is better and what do you calculate into your decision? Its very close and depending on what I factor in, I can pick one or the other at anytime. Overall careers...I'm going with Brady!! Let me know what you think

Its too tough. The way i like to look at is, can you insert the QB's into each others situations and how would they do? I think its safe to say that both would prosper. However, I think Manning could do more on a bad team than Brady.

I agree that both are going to prosper...but I dont know if I agree that Manning would do better with a bad team. Brady won super bowls with mediocre lineups on both sides of the ball whereas Peyton has always had some of the top offensive prospects in the NFL, he was just always and is still lacking somewhat on the defensive side. But like you said...its a tough debate.

I completely agree with what you said here. Brady hardly had the caliber of receivers on any of their superbowl teams and look what he did. This year you give brady some probowl receivers and look what he's done.....27td's in 7 games.....manning hasn't done that. Now peyton is a very good quarterback and both these guys are the foundation every team dreams of. Overall i'm sticking with my boy brady as he has 3 rings to prove his worth.....also manning NEVER beat the gators in his 4 years at tennessee haha. Tough debate, but imo brady gets the edge.....

I would give it to Peyton. I think while Brady didn't have stellar offensive players to work with, the Pats have always been known for their stingy D. To say the Pats have had mediocore teams, I feel at least, is somewhat incorrect.

Overall, if you look at their career stats, there is no comparison. Peyton is on pace to break many of the most important career stats for QBs, and now that he has picked up a bowl, I think it is hard to pick against him. Brady, however, after this year, will enjoy the title of best single season by a QB, IMO.

I guess we'll all have a better idea on the 4th.

Brady easily, now that he has some real recievers behide him the true style of his quarterbacking skills come into play. He is amazing to say the least and even with receievers of the skills level he has with the super bowl win he still pulled it off. I cant wait to see what he does in the future as well.

Brady is smart, calculating QB and not much of a gun slinger. To win games on a bad team i would still take manning. To change a franchise I might have to go with Brady. BUT if i had to win one game it wouldnt be either of them. It would be Brett Favre!...even at his current age. Brett of 6-8 years ago compared to the current Manning/Brady still wouldnt even be close.

Brady is still more of a system guy. Where was he when he was playing at Michigan? Brady has always had solid receivers that made the catches needed (Deion Branch, Troy Brown, Daniel Graham, David Givens) now he has sick receiver talent this year they are tearing it up.

I would still put the Colts O versus the Pats O any day of the week.

Peyton is the best QB of this era (since Montana, Kelly, Marino).

To know that there is even one vote for Peyton is appauling!! Let me preface what I am about to say with this: No hype surrounding Brady this year affects ANY of what I am about to say.

Peyton has been surrounded with a probowler at EVERY skill position on his offense (the last few years he's had 2 at WR) for 80% of his career. To say that Brady has been surrounded with that much talent on offense is beyond rediculous and NO one would argue that point.

What happens when Brady is put in that situation? Well this year is an example of what COULD have been as far as offensive statistics.

As far as winning superbowls the argument COULD be made of Brady having a better defense in those years, which probably does have some validity. BUT when I look at the Colts playoff blunders, it wasn't their defense that killed them. It was Peyton and his amazing ability to choke when it really counts. Also his inability to handle actual pressure when it gets to him, he is horrific at making people miss in the pocket and even worse trying to make a throw with a lineman/linebacker in his face. This year I would have to say Brady's O-line is plaing as good as Peyton's but that has not been the case in years past when the superbowls were won.

I have been saying these things for a couple years now, and I am finally getting the last laugh because Brady has WR's that FINALLY don't require him to do all of the work whereas he has had to in years past because his core blew. What has happened as a result...hmm 27-2 in 7 games....thats all.

Tom Brady!!

Everyone keeps talking about Brady's 27 TD's this year, but who owns the record for most in a season?

cmon MIKE!! Its inevitable and you know it!

It depends.

if he averages 2 TDs a game the rest of the way, he doesnt get it
If he averages 3 but sits out the last game of the year that gives him 51.

The Pats still have to play Wash, Indy, PHI, Bal, PIT, and the NYG

They've gotten to beat up on BUF, NYJ, CIN, CLE, and MIA thusfar. Their only games against good D's came against superdrol (edit HAHA San Diego abbriviated)and Dal and neither are playing that great. And yes I am aware that they play MIA, BUF, and NYJ again.

And yes, its possible that Billacheat will keep Brady in games they're winning handily (or even bring him back in)

I hate the Patriots!!

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the records of the teams the Pats and Colts have played against.

The Pats, and the amazing Brady, have played against teams with a combined 11 games below .500. 11!!

Let's look at the Patriots opponents:

Jets: No category in offense or defense within the Top 20.

Chargers: No category in offense in Top 10, 1 category in defense in Top 10 (rushing yards)

Bills: Self explanatory. One category in off/def in Top 20.

Bengals: Off is in Top 5, though all defensive categories are in the bottom three!

Browns: Top 10 Offense, the worst collective defense.

Cowboys: One of the top O's, but only one defensive category in Top 10.

Dolphins: 2 Top 15 O categories, worst PPG in league, and contending with Browns for worst collective defense.

When you view the teams the Pats have played there is only one team who has one defensive category in the top ten!! One category!!

The teams they played have been horrible defensively, that is plain and simple. I am not saying the Colts have played Top 10 D's every time, however, they have played much, much better teams. I just thought it was important to add context here. Given the teams they have played 27-2 becomes less amazing.

Well spoken.

New England is the team to beat right now hands down. We shall see if they can match that 1972 Dolphin undefeated season :D This team is very capable of accomplishing this historic feat. Go pats baby!!

This is basically what I was getting at in my last post. I just didnt spell it out with such detail. Nice job!

I'm willing to bet Reps that Manning throws more TD's than Brady when they play against each other next week. Any takers? :)

lets get serious for a second. Brady did play agaisnt a top 10 d fence and he did unbelievable in that game as well. People need to look at the pure facts with moss welker and stallworth 3 touch down passes are an easy feat for Brady jesus people thats with out bringing the line into it

I'm not saying that he CANT throw 3 a game, just saying he prob won't. There will be a few games where they run successfully, or some where a pass will bring them inside the 5 rather than in the end zone, at which point they MAY run the ball in.

And if we want to use history to establish possible situations; Moss is one game away from being a distraction rather than an asset.

Brady is also bound to have at least one bad game.

No he didn't, I outlined that pretty clearly above. He played against one team whom had one category in the defensive top ten. That's not a top ten D dude.

I give the edge Brady but just barley. He seems to be a great leader and has some 4th quater come backs to prove it.

I would say that Stallworth, Welker and Moss are the equivalent to Wayne, Sokley, and Harrison. So i'd say you can compare Manning's record season to Brady's season this year. This also go's to show that both QB's can be descustingly good when they have a soild 3 and stud WR's

Brady and the pats ARE the best team in the NFL thusfar this year until proven otherwise........period!!
