peak age for gains

I will start off by saying that im 17 yrs old, about 5'11" and 150lb. I have been weigh lifting for about 20 months now and have seen a huge increase in strength almost 3x on bench from i started. when did you start weight lifting and what did you find was the age where you started to really bulk up?

As soon as I stepped in the gym, my gains came the quickest. Thereafter they slowed down, but were still there. When your that young and your body is full of test you will grow like a weed the first year of training. Especially if diet and training are in proper play.

You aren't gain size because you aren't eating enough. Post up typical diet for you.

Keep training and start eating.

He didnt ask why he couldnt gain size he just asked when we started to gain size? This summer after I turned 20 I saw my best gains... that and the first time I started working out seriously.

i started when i was 18 but i wasnt as into it as i am now. training controls my life now. if i know if i am going to go somewhere, but miss a meal, i wont go do that. just this past year has been when i have been really into body building and this past year i have seen the most growth.

16-17 was good natural 19-20 first cycle then everything else was mostly a waste. Am getting a second burst now at 27. Maybe muscle maturity, maybe switching to more machines.

I'll throw this out there, I started 2 years ago at 37 and have gained a good amount of muscle, dropped the body fat, and shredded the abs and I look better than most of the dudes half my age at the pool...

u'd expect the age would be around 18 - 19. However I personally saw best results over the last couple of years (22 - 23). It was purely due to diet and discipline in workout & rest.

You receive what you put in. But its kind of silly question. I mean shure when you go through puberty you have optimal hormone levels but you dont have optimum mental levels and skills.

Mid-twenties for sure, which is why I hate to see people running cycles when they are young... early twenties.

the age where you gain the most weight is the year you figure out how to dial in your diet and train. if i knew that information at 17, then 17 would be the magic year. 17-25 is probably the easiest years to gain mass, though again - without the knowledge or dedication, results will vary radically.

with regards to me personally, i have been vaguely going to the gym since 15. when i say vaguely, it was hopping on the incline/flat bench, and 2-3 other exercises 1x per week. occasionally lifted while in service, though never more than once a week. stopped lifting at 22, and started again at 29 - this time i took it serious, and that is when i had gains. plateau'd at 152 pounds and 3.8k calories daily, and had to join AM to figure out how to keep growing.

My teenage son blew up between the ages of 16-18. When he started getting acne his gains skyrocketed. The hormones were in full force at that time. He went from 160lbs to 195lbs in that period. The kid could not eat enough food in a day to keep up. I had him working out 3 days a week with very basic heavy movements. Keep it simple and get your food and rest Shane. Iwould kill to have what is running through your veins right now...take advantage of it bubba!!

Everyone runs by their own clock. My son's best friend is just getting his hormone spike and he is 18. His strength jumps have been unbelievable!!

i noticed that you're absolute best gains are when diet becomes optimum, and when you first start hitting the gym hardcore (but properly). when i started at 14-15, my gains went really well, and when i started again about 7-8 months ago they were rapid. but, when i nailed my diet a few months ago, i saw the fat percentage drop and my weight level, then climb slowly.

i can also say (for a few of my gym rat buddies) that in the early to mid twenties you will have your best natty gains. at 17, you can make huge gains that will stick, but it's only if you have the proper diet and nutrition to go with a proper workout regimen. stick with it man! young blood is full of test.

I gained the freshman 15 in college. Lean muscle. Then gained 15 again in my late 20's when I learned how to diet correctly. I've maintained since then but I'm still trying to gain muscle.

Personally I think you will see the fasted intitial gains when you are between 16-20, that is when your hormones should be working overtime, but in your 20's i think you will gain the most muscle, just not as fast
