Quick question. Does anybody know how many grams of carbs are in one ounce of whole wheat rigatoni pasta?

The box says the serving size is 2 oz (I'm assuming that's 2 oz uncooked?).

Just a little confusion but it's important I know this.

thanks for that link man. now, it says one ounce contains 19.3 g carbohydrates. the specified serving size on the box says exactly 2 oz for 40 grams carbs, but doesn't specify whether that 2 oz is cooked or dry pasta.

i typically eat 7 cooked ounces per meal. if this is true and there are only 19 something grams of carbs in one cooked ounce then i've been massively binging on carbs when i'm supposed to be dieting down haha...

Pasta has a massive amount of carbs, so I'm sure when they refer to ounces they mean cooked.

I figured out that 8 oz of uncooked dry pasta translates to 4 cups cooked pasta. So for my particular caloric needs at the present time I need to have 2.5 ounces per carb meal which is 1 1/4 cups cooked pasta.

Still, if it is cooked ounces on the servings label, 7 cooked ounces doesn't leave me feeling bloated or overly full. And by this math that would mean I had been eating nearly 140 grams carbs per sitting. So either I've built up an astonishing tolerance to carbs or 7 ounces isn't that many grams carbs regardless.

Haha whatever though, I'm just gonna measure my pasta by cups from now on.

And yo, I love Barilla pasta. Especially the swirly rotini. Awesome $hit

Pasta is NOT good for cutting.

You should take that 7oz you're ingesting and bring it down to 3oz but add a bunch of veggies into your pasta. Broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, carrots, onions...these all go well with pastas.

Thanks to all who've replied. I will be cutting down the serving sizes of all my carbohydrate meals, but gradually over a period of time. I find this is the best approach for my body to help me get lean without sacrificing significant muscle fullness or strength. I've already lost a good 10 pounds slowly and I've been gaining definition around my midsection and losing bf.

I'm only aiming to take in about 250 grams carbs per lifting day right now. And anywhere from 150-200 on my cardio and off days. My macro splits are about 270 grams protein, 250 carb and 65-70 grams of fat. The last two meals of my day are always protein and fat meals, no carbs. I concentrate the majority of my carbs in the morning and afternoon hours, centered around my workouts, then taper off toward evening and increase my fat intake.

But as you can see, this pasta confusion was nagging at me. I prefer whole wheat pasta as my carb source. I eat oats for breakfast and have whole grain pastas with my carb meals. I have to start eating more veggies though. Thanks for the suggestion, ctDeuce

Just btw, 1 1/4 cups pasta is just shy of 5 oz of cooked pasta, which is a lot less than the 7 i had been eating haha
