Paleo?

What's up guys? I'm looking to trim down big time. Over the past year, I've put on some muscle, but my diet has been crappy so I'm sitting at around 18%, which is way too high for me. I was looking into Paleo for about 8 weeks or so to cut, and then resume some carbs like oatmeal gradually. Basically, to use Paleo as a jump start to fat loss. Has anyone done this before?

Paleo isnt really a fat loss diet, it is more of a health conscious lifestly diet. There are plenty of fat loss diets available. Pick one of them if that is your goal

Judo Josh is right. You could be eating a Paleo diet and still be putting on weight. However, if you do it right, the Paleo diet when followed properly (how people advocate) is not only about the quality of the foods you are eating, but it's about nutrient timing as well.

It's mainly about eating whole foods, cutting out any foods that may cause possible allergic reactions (which cause water retention, inflammation, etc). But for example, you can eat sweet potatoes on it amongst other high carb / calories dense foods. For this reason, advocates of the Paleo diet recommend eating starchy foods around your workouts.

I'd say overall that people who follow a Paleo diet will definitely see body composition changes. But if you have strict goals, look for a diet that's geared towards fat loss, for optimal effect. For example, you could possibly follow a cyclical ketogenic diet, but if you choose to - you could strictly eat only Paleo type foods within this diet plan. This would be a much healthier way to eat than how many people will eat on a CKD, as it cuts out dairy / grains / inflammatory foods. This is just one example though.

I Agree with the above staments it's more of a lifestyle change I've been following it loosely for over a year with great results
Current I am doing carb nites which has done a lot for my waist line

I've bulked on paleo, haha. But for losing weight, it's similar to most diets... just eat less.
One of the best results I've seen getting leaner and stronger simultaneously with paleo was a girl I was seeing who used Zone block regimen and a food scale to figure out how much of what she ought to be eating for a couple of months and was able to pretty much eyeball it from then on.

^ Good approach. I usually track my daily intake for the first week of any new diet, then I can easily eyeball afterwards when I know what I'm eating. 2 months is even better. I usually keep my variety of foods fairly restricted though hehe

Paleo is lifestly diet it is not a weight loss diet!

look into the UD2.0 or body opus diets. they are good at helping you lose bf with the ease of food selection.

Unless you hunt and kill your food with spears and gather your own nuts and fruits you're not really eating paleo

Was kind of joking. Nothing against paleo really, just bitter cause I can't afford organic grass fed meats and non GMO foodstuffs
