Optimum Nutrition whey - Tropical Punch flavor

Just stumbled onto this. I assume it's new. Most sites don't carry it. Looks very affordable. Also a Rocky Road flavor. Could it be a cheap alternative to Nectar?

ON's 100% whey line is one of the best protein powders out there in my opinion. However, I'm skeptical of any protein that's fruit punch or grape flavored, or any other such flavor. Even Substance WPI grape flavor, which is one of the best I've tried, is hit or miss in flavoring. But, I'll give the ON a whirl. Might be good. I hope so.
 
I actually baught a tub of the tropical punch yesterday but I haven't taken any yet. Ill start taking it tomorrow after i finish off my chocolate and let you guys know how it tastes. I can tell you right now that the powder itself tastes like kids bubble gum favored toothpaste, like the one with sesame street characters on the tube. One thing I can tell you right now that i noticed comparing the gold standard to the origional was the Cholesterol was doubled from 15mg to 30mg perserving for the GS. Oh, and it's .5g fat less that the origional.
 
I finished my tub not too long ago. I didnt care for it comapred to the other flavors. Didnt mix very well and the taste wasn't as good either.
 
Well, I told you guys I would give my review and here it is. I had 1 scoop in both 16oz of water and skim and it mixed very well with both, no clumping at all. The shake foamed like crazy with the skim but it all settled in about a minute so it was really no big deal. The water didn't make it foam at all. I tried it a few times today, the first time I really didn't care for it too much, it tastes more like kids bubble gum flavored toothpaste than tropical punch. But each time I had it the taste got better and better to me. I can compare the taste to Syntrax Kiwi Strawberry Nectar except its not tangy like Nectar. So overall:

I stick to the classic vanilla, chocolate, strawberry with Optimum. I loved their eggnog and orange cream while they lasted. Hated the fruit punch and root beer float flavors.

Fruit-flavored protein is just...weird...
 
Yeah, its a weird concept. But I don't think milky-based proteins would taste good in water, so I was hoping a fruity one would.
 
When I first looked at the date of the thread I was like, who the hell bumped this! lol good thing I actually read the following posts :P
