So, I started on this forum back in 2007....sheesh...Im getting OLD!!!

I wanted to start this thread to talk about some of the old school, very memorable members. Maybe we can reminisce a little...tag them...and who knows...

Trip Dog is the fiest person who comes to mind...that dude was wild...I heard he passed away

MulletSoldier

Ubiquitous

Spurfy...

Iron Lungs. I used to be way more active, just not enough time anymore and there was nutraplanet with it's crazy new years sales, I'd stock up for a whole year lol.

A few guys that were active passed away since I got here…. You have to assume that is always a possibility

Joined 2002 here I remember B52, Bobo, some doctor was on here for awhile. anybody remember the yellowjacket fiasco?

@DR.D

I think he still comes on sometimes...super knowledgeable and a good dude

Yellow jacket sounds familiar...what happened?

Bobo ran this board back in the day, right?

Hey brother!
Yeah, it shows me joining in January 2017 ... but I lurked for years, before that.

I had been active on the old PHF board, and bought a lot of "supplements" from there, gained more knowledge, and some great contacts. And I lurked on this board, and a couple of others for years, gaining knowledge online, on this board (and others), and did a lot of "lab research" of my own (LOL).
This is a Great board (not Quite what it was a few years ago, but still great)!
Seen a handful (that I know of) pass away ....

God has given me a soft heart, and I miss people when they're gone. A close friend and (nonlifting) Brother is on his exit journey now. He's one of the finest men I've ever known, and he'll be Sorely missed, by more than a few.

It makes me happy to see some of the old crew on here!

I changed States, careers, friends (except for a few), etc a little over a year ago. I'm much more successful career-wise, and financially. ... But honestly, I've never been overly distracted by money. People are Important.
I'm a LOT busier now, but I like that. I like the things that I do. Work, church, garage gym, classes, studies, friends....

What keeps your interest and time these days?

I'm the same as you. I don't care about money as long as there's enough. I made some career moves and I'm still in the process actually but the funny thing is even though I'm making a decent amount more money my bank account looks exactly the same, my kids and my girl just seem to need 10,000 more things now that I'm making more money lol. So we're still broke all the time we just have lots of items around the house that nobody needs 😂

I remember 10 years ago or so when this place was booming. I'd frequently get in trouble at work when I was an accountant for constantly being on these boards and not doing my work; as there was such an awesome community here...good times

Well, not an OG myself, but been around the block long enough to see some good members dissappear. RIP BigT, Rocket, Puccah, a few others I know I'm missing.

Haven't seen @ZOO in a minute... also @BOSSMAN @uforce might still be around...

I missed the whole first decade of this board, but didn’t spend too long lurking before joining in’12.

It’s surprising to me the number of people who have actually passed away in that time. It’s a good reminder of how things can come & go so fast in life.

He was under ground pumping vials of liquid gold I think he wanted off the radar 😉

I think youre talking about @yates84
Someone told me he got pinched. So either that or just needed to cool off, but he was always a genuinely helpful & good member.

I didnt know Rocket passed....damn...

What happened?

I came from PHF after being on there from 2009 until BA, Pure Oils etc collapsed….great times and unique products that I should have stocked up on. A crap ton of guys came over from PHF. Anyone know what happened to LGTwhitney? Bought a ton of stuff from him then he disappeared

Yeah, I remember that dude...

I think he got out of the game

PHF was a good forum too....

I remember there was a dude on there named "Dml" something....he was on like every PH on the market all at once (Supposedly)

Everyone gave him **** for not just pinning

Thats what it's all about, brother. Family, friends, it's all we got.

Ive stayed pretty consistent over the years with training...for the most part.

I have two kiddos and a wife I've been with 20 years...

Ive had my struggles with alcohol over the years, but I've been able to stop several times...

Im on a good run now, and don't plan on looking back

You guys remember Trip Dogs Banana Cult club in here? 😁

Looks like a few of us are in the same boat. I was misdiagnosed with a degenerative joint disease which caused severe pain when lifting and eventually moving. The "treatment" alleviated the pain but couldn't go back to the gym...I nearly off'd myself when I had to stop lifting. I went from bodybuilder to powerlifter and loved heavyweight PR in the squat was 604lbs and in just a couple weeks time it was over. A couple years ago though I got really sick and it wouldn't go away...ends up I have an autoimmune which affects my interstitial and connective tissue. After over ten years I got the right diagnosis and treatment and back to the gym I went. Over those years I dove into my work, got just under C level exec, learned to meditate, and got fat. I've lost all the fat finally and am smaller than ever but it's just being in the gym, moving weight, and grinding away at the diet...freakin awesome. You truly don't know what you got til it's gone and now I got some of that back...hence my return to this board :)

Glad you made it thru all that

I just turned 40 too bro, we age like fine wine around here, until we drink the wine and have to start over again , 2019 I quit drinking, 2020 I was back on my regular gym grind and now I just finished a cut and I'm actually the same body weight in this 2020 picture as I am now when I'm shredded (or trying to get shredded)😂Screenshot_20250625-141527~3.webpScreenshot_20250616-132429~3.webpIMG_20250709_061251_600.webp

Im on this forum almost daily, I've had ppl make comments if we have a disagreement about how I'm always on here. I don't know how that even fits into a argument but the reason I have stayed so active on this forum is for 3 main reasons.

1. I gave up social media at 30 years old. No Facebook or nothing. I don't even scroll through Instagram nor do I have an Instagram account or SnapChat or any of those other things. I am sure there's 10 other ones I don't remember. Although I need to get on Facebook to advertise business now, I don't enjoy social media. Too much crying and complaining.

2. This is my accountability to stay fit, I have other ppl here that I don't even though they're real names that we have had accountability checks back and forth with each other openly in threads or through DM for the past 10 years on and off. I've ventured to other forums but I come back here because here's where my time is vested into myself and others. I also have a few ppl here who became clients of mine and they never posted on the boards. Ppl who were lurking and sent a DM asking if I'd give them a meal plan or exercise program. I never asked anyone to buy nothing or be my clients. I'm pretty sure I've never even tried to push personal training or meal plans or anything on a single person on this forum. If anyone has ever seen me do that I'd like to know actually because I really don't think I ever have. So if make them something to follow and eventually they might come back for some more training and nutrition tailored specifically to them or whatever and then we end up doing a little work together.

3. Brings me to number three, there's about 2 handfuls of ppl I bullshit with here daily. It's become second nature to come check on people here, the same way I check on my friends in the real world. There's probably another 10-15ppl here I might only talk to once or twice a month. But for 10 years straight.

I'm not here searching out answers to get jacked or steroids like ppl who just signed up might. I'm here to track my workouts, experiment with pharmacology and ways of dieting and and get feedback and hear the thoughts of those handfuls of ppl I trust.

Over the years @Hyde has become my go-to for strength training/programming ideas. He's also the person I'm usually waiting for to tell me I'm doing something wrong or im misunderstanding the literature on something and he catches it. I really don't even have to ask him for anything because I know he's going to correct me when I miss something. We live in a world where lots of people can't handle being told they're wrong, but I love being corrected when I actually am wrong. That's how we learn, and that's how we grow. Inside and outside the gym.

@MrKleen73 has opened my eyes to training and possibly competing as I get older. Watching his prep was inspiring to me. I hope he doesn't mind but I've even showed his contest photos to some of my clients as a way to constructively shut down their argument that they can't loose fat or build muscle because they're 48 or 55 or even older. I just got a client who's 70. He looks and acts younger in every other aspect of life but he limits himself in his mind what he can and can't do with the way that he looks because of his age. There's another person here on the forums who never posts and there's 65 and they look 40 and he's jacked. One day while he was messaging me for some advice, in my head I'm thinking I should be asking this guy for advice! And I did. That person is like the role model I use to motivate my 70 year old client. (Who's lurking on this forum and not posting CHRIS!!!!) LOL. If you're reading this say hello to everyone 😂

This forum is pretty dead in comparison to how it used to be. But there's still lots of goodies here, and this forum has helped me a lot on my journey to become a normal Functioning member of society 😀

There's plenty more people on here whose names I haven't mentioned I just didn't want to start tagging 20ppl. But I like to think that I've helped a good amount of people here, but I definitely know that a lot of people here have helped me.

Even when they might not know it. Sometimes that's even more important

If I ever come off as a dick, just know that my family & wife have always said I tend to be too blunt & honest, so maybe I am? BUT to whoever needs to hear this, just know that I just enjoy talking shop with people, helping & learning. And I feel like I’ve only lifted whatever I have in anything not so much from any aptitude, but rather moreso what I’ve been able to learn. So I always want to share that stuff if I think it could help someone else.

@Smont

You and I could pass for brother in person bro...no doubt

Everyone in my family thinks I come off ass a dick for the exact same reasons lol. I regularly have to tell ppl I'm sorry, but at least I'm being honest 😭.

My girlfriend regularly says "why did you have to say that" and my response back is, "do you mean why did I tell the truth?"

He still pops up. What happened to Yates?
I was keeping up with him personally for a while after he left the board. He and Amber split, and things got a little crunchy then he got back in some trouble after the divorce when no one was holding him back from taking bigger risks. I haven't heard from him in years. He was a good dude.
I missed the whole first decade of this board, but didn’t spend too long lurking before joining in’12.

I feel like I have been here forever, I joined in 08, never lurked, not really a lurker, I love the conversations. It brings more learning the more people discuss a topic.

Thanks for the mention there @Smont, and feel free to use any of my pics to help motivate people if you believe it will help them. I agree with your sentiments about @Hyde as well, one of the most helpful, and knowledgeable people on the board.

I tend to get the why are you so blunt comments too. I often tell people not to ask me questions they don't really want the answer too. I have asked many times "are you sure you want me to answer that no holds barred, you might not like my answer." I would much rather warn them ahead of time that if I am asked something honestly, I will answer honestly, and it might not be what they want to hear.

Sometimes when I offer advice or mention something that was said that was not the way things truly are I feel a little bad about it because it might be taken wrong, but I would rather that than lie to make them feel better if the lie is going to lull them into comfort and not help with the change they are seeking.

Another person I did not see mentioned here was Snags AKA Snagency or Snagency2.0. He and I did not always see eye to eye on things, and had some headbutting sessions over a few things, but he had good intentions and had a lot of knowledge. Such a shame he chose to end his life. There have been so many good people come and go around here, some passing, some just passing through. I consider myself lucky to have made the group of friends I have on here now. Even though this board may not be busy, I get what I need out of it, and hopefully provide some of what others need in the process.

Don't forget hulk smash, pretty sure he robbed half the forum and disappeared.

I actually met him at a bar in Massachusetts probably 10-12 years ago and he didn't know it was me nor did I tell him. On the boards he used to always talk about his 20 inch arms.

And he absolutely has 20 inch arms, because he was morbidly obese...... He probably had a 48in waist, or bigger.

Don't remember him. How bout @Abe Lincoln It looks like he visited the forum in March this year, but I don't remember seeing him post and probably 10 years.

I'm not the greatest with time frames but it's been a while
I remember Abe a little bit, I think @DR.D was a lot more active on here before you came along. He had a HUGE Oral Pulsing thread that had a lot of good information in it, but also had a lot of people hating on it at the same time. Dr.D definitely knew his stuff though. I have seen him on here a while back, but not sure if he still hops on on occasion or not.

Do you all remember Hairygrandpa he was a nut. Dude would try anything, gear, crazy workouts, crazy diets, he truly was a mad scientist, but he ran into some health issues and then disappeared. I hope he is still alive, but I know he was not doing well when he dropped off the board. I remember him always telling us about his tilapia farms, and how things were run down there in Bananaland or whatever he called where he lived.

What happened to HGP?

No sure, exactly.
Like Smont said, he had some health issues.... And then he disappeared.

When I saw your name pop up on my notifications, I Almost remembered another guy's name that was a regular, and disappeared.
... I'll probably remember in a bit.
