That sounds good, I usually don't do the competition lifts at all personally.

The strongman lifts I'm assuming, by competition lifts I was referring to my usual PL deload.

211 dry this morning, guess I have my work cut out for me this week.

200 and below...

Back is looking beefy, and stomach too unfortunately.

I actually don't usually do the powerlifts before meets either.

Mostly blood flow work and mobility.

Gotcha. I'll stick with this since I have a PL meet the weekend after.

Thanks for the input.

205x0 tight belt doesn't work here

Banged the hell out of my right quad on the 205 fail, made the rest of the workout more sucky.

Bench felt awful, but moved fast. Bringing the 265 down felt like I'd fail hard, was contemplating just bailing on it, sat there for 3-5sec then ended up pressing it faily smooth.

Workout from hell.

207.2 dry this morning.

I'll either make weight tomorrow afternoon, or have to skip weighins if my class isn't cancelled and weigh in the day of. If it's the latter, I'll carb up anyways Friday night and try to come in as heavy as possible since the next class is 231 and below.

206.4 dry day of weigh-ins...

70% chance my class is cancelled, and the spitting begins...

Ballz. Small bathroom with a hot shower? Epsom salt bath?
Only problem is I have class till right before weigh-ins, so I'll just be spitting and crank the heater anytime I drive.

Garbage bag under a hoody will go a long way.

Class not cancelled...goal is to compete at 215 tomorrow in the 200-231 class.

I know I cannot win bc my buddy (who is doing it bc I told him to) is in that class and is a giant beast.

And 212.6... Let the ass kicking begin.

Nice. Strongman stuff always seems so interesting...good work.

Northern California Strongman Championships

6th out of 11 MW 200-231lb. 1st place guy was a beast, he block pulled 805 for ****s n giggles even though his 785 won the event and class and did all 5 stones in half my time.

Axle Clean & Press 9th place
183, 203 good lift (double overhand)
213 no lift
(couldn't DOH, I power cleaned using mixed grip and couldn't switch grip in the rack position)

Farmer Walk & Zercher Carry Medley 7th
26.5sec w/ 225 per hand for 100' & 375 for 100'
(I dropped my right hand a few feet in front of the finish line, cost me time & a few places)

18" Block Pull 3rd
585, 635, 695 good lift & easy
(should have opened heavier and went for 745 and battled for 2nd)

Atlas Stones 2nd
37.78sec for all stones (220/240/270/300/330)
(Was 1 of 2 of my class to load all 5 stones, every stone was a PR, felt awesome to load the 330)

A lot of fun and my good buddy took 7th place to me even though he beat me on a few events, was a great competition. Had I made it to weigh-ins early and made weight, I likely would have been battling at the top in the LW 176-200lbs, as I would have won half the events with what I lifted.

Nice work NomZ. I like the shades and hair tied shirt look doing the stones :biglaugh:

Strong stuff NomZ

Thanks guys, was a blast, a lot of hard events.
rob112 It was to keep my shirt from rolling up with the stones, that tacky is seriously sticky, plus it was athletic tape, not a hair tie!

Lol makes sense. That would suck balls to have your shirt rip up when trying to focus on not dropping a stone and breaking your foot.

Strongman looks from you and Jim's vids

That looked like a hell of an awesome day! Now I wanna do strongman just so I can lift in shades. Was that Big OB judging your Axle C&P?

Thanks rob112, it sure was a lot of fun, I look forward to my next one (no idea when there is another...).

lol the shades were nice in the full Cali sun.

Was waiting for someone to recognize big Robert Oberst from WSM.

Only disappointing part was that they cancelled the trucky pull bc of time and the taco truck never showed up to pull...

A taco truck pull? That would've been awesome. I pull the entire contents of a taco truck home with me every time I run into one, though.

I knew OB was judging a competition today, but I didn't know you were at that competition! I hope you spent a bunch of time learning from him!

I like how you one motioned almost all of the stones, I also like how you tried to one motion the 300 lol. As far as the 330, it looked like you didn't sit low enough in the lap to get it high enough on your chest to get an easier load.

I was also a big fan of how easy that 200# axle clean was lol. It was just a fancy looking reverse grip curl for you....

As far as flipping the grip goes, you should have done that while it was still on your belly (or put it on your belly, and then flipped the grip) so that you could have pressed the heavier weight!

Sounds like a fun day though, I love when big time strongmen show up to shows. My first show had Travis Ortmayer (really cool guy BTW), second had Marshall White (whom I was training with for awhile), and then Dimitar Savatinov at TSM.

So much knowledge......

herderdude I had late night pastor tacos last night and my car still smelled like them today...
I knew OB was judging a competition today, but I didn't know you were at that competition! I hope you spent a bunch of time learning from him! I didn't know he was going to be there, I asked him a few questions and he also cued nearly everyone on the C&P trying to help people out. I talked more with the guy who won my class, strongman from WA, I think he C&P 300+.I like how you one motioned almost all of the stones, I also like how you tried to one motion the 300 lol. As far as the 330, it looked like you didn't sit low enough in the lap to get it high enough on your chest to get an easier load. Good to know for next time. I went into this having not touched a stone for the past 3yrs, and was the first to load all 5. Felt awesome.I was also a big fan of how easy that 200# axle clean was lol. Ya was pretty cool overall, Dan Green judged the deadlifts. Thanks for all the pointers, I appreciate it.

Yeah, your'e just a strong dude. Not a lot of guys can just walk up to a 330 stone without ever doing it and throw it to a 50" platform lol.

One thing I noticed, looking back at the video, was that your feet were pretty wide on the last stone. This is fine for when your picking it up off the ground (and might even be preferred), but when you go to sit back into the lap you should bring them closer together. That way the stone can sit on your thighs, and you can sit lower to really get it as high onto your chest as possible and then just throw your hips under it as violently as possible and it will fly up.

lawl I'll take it, thanks resident strongman.

Again, good to know, thanks a lot. Also would make me a touch taller on the load with a narrower stance.

Raw 198 meet this weekend...

Sean1332 openers: 475/265/600, goal 3rd: 530/290/650. I believe the raw 198 deadlift state record is 674, so if I get my 3rd I'll probably ask for a 4th and go for that.

Thanks country.

I'm pretty sure I say that I've never cutting again, every time I cut...

On the recumbent bike layered up with my hot pants on and spitting. 1lb till weighins.

Nope. 199.6lb weighin, after waking up at 202.6, wasn't going to sweat off another 1.2lbs.

I lost 12.4 total, next time I'll need to try an Epsom bath if I plan to drop 14lbs.

Or, it's time to be a 220. Let's make it happen today!

Raw 199.6lbs

475/501/530 all good lifts (501/530 PRs).
265/281/293 all good lifts (281/293 meet PRs).
601x/601/640x

1421 Raw meet PR.

The strongman meet really tanked my deadlifts. I had zero upper back tightness and couldn't retract my scap for ****. Also my right index finger callus was cracked wide open going into this.

Happy with the squat and bench PR tho.
