Niacin supplementation

So Ive began taking 500 mg of niacin (not extended release/not no flush) once a day. Been going through a little funk and I feel like it helps with anxiety/depression or just overall wellbeing for me when I am taking it.

The cholesterol benefits are debated I understand but not really too interested in it for that. I also know it effects insulin resistance which is not optimal and would like a little info on what to counteract it or maybe a 5 on 2 off method or if at this dosage it really isn't a problem or just your experiences with it... Ty in advance and I'll keep studying too.
