Dude, you weren't getting what I meant. Of course people overtrain. But according to some people in this thread and beyond, overtraining is totally CNS related. They are using words like "overreaching" to describe people who make no gains when they train too hard or too often. They are saying that overtraining is a rare phenomenon because a few hours of weight training each week isn't enough to tax anyone's CNS. **** that, I'm old school. If you're not making gains because you are training too hard and/or too frequently, then I call it overtraining. You also have people who will insist that one's sleep and diet is always to blame for lack of gains - these people, too, will tell you that overtraining is hard to do. But we all know this is bull**** because we've all tried eating 6,000 calories a day while training our arms 6 days a week, drug-free. If that worked, everyone would have 23'' arms (well, maybe only 20'' for those with average genetics. Haha.)
