Need joint help for my wife who’s on an AI.

She on an AI as hormone therapy for breast cancer. Obviously she’s having joint issues especially in her lower back, hips and ankles. So I was looking at Cissus but doing my homework it appears as though it could increase estrogen and/or testosterone. However the understanding of Cissus and estrogen is way over my head. What I’ve read suggest it could increase circulating estrogen. This is where I’m lost. Does that mean it signals your body to make hormones or does it just increase what you already have. Basically I’m trying to figure out if Cissus is safe for my wife to take.

Thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Which AI did they put her on? Is it a 5yr plan?
When my wife had her mastectomy last year I was praising God that they did not add chemo/radiation or Tamoxifen for her becuase it was expected to be a 5 year Rx. Instead she did get the full amputation but the blessing was in clean lymphnodes.

personally, I had great results from Joint XT and even simpler, I have always found that a high quality fish oil like SFH has helped me a lot during winter but what she's going through is pretty harsh right now and if I were you guys I'd honestly talk to the doc a bit to see what they recommend

if your scenario is anything like ours was last year she likely has an entire cancer board of professional experts that have been reviewing and working her case. that's a lot of brains to grab ideas from...

Incredibly your wife’s situation is exactly like ours. Yes a 5 year plan using letrozole as her AI along with a monthly shot that puts her into menopause. No chemo, Rad or Tam. She had a double mastectomy but her situation was a little unique because she’s 48 and pre menopausal. Her cancer was purely hormonal. Gene test came back negative and she was HER2 negative. God has blessed us far beyond what I deserve. My wife has had a terrible 3 years. 2021 Father’s Day she had a seizure and we found out later that day she had a brain tumor a “meningioma”. It was very large, about the size of a dollar bill. After about a year of recovery everything was great. A year after that in Nov 2023 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. My wife is a nurse and thankfully she’s had great care from her co workers and her “cancer Dr friends”. I hate it for her, and it’s taken a toll on us all including our 9 year old. Earlier this year I became severely depressed. Never had this happen to me but I guess it all kinda caught up to me. But our faith keeps us going and as of now everything is going well. Thanks.

I can’t speak to anything other than when my E2 is crushed, 2-3g combined EPA/DHA masks the joint issues.

I’m sorry for what y’all are going through.

Wow very very similar. My wife did the single mastectomy, 52 and no menopause yet, or pre... everything else sounds really similar. We had 3 female friends in their 50s/60s all find lumps at the same time last summer. The rest were either benign or a small lumpectomy thankfully. But we didn't have to do the brain tumor, when it rains it pours!! I'm glad you guys are doing well, the depression makes sense. You were running off addrenaline and fumes for so long. I know how those doctors appts are. for weeks and months at a time you're in a "hurry up and wait" state. Then you get some good news finally and it's like this huge emotional roller coaster cause after spending so much time at weekly drs appts you're just not sure what life looks like anymore. Hang in there homie, I'm glad she has had so much great care and I'd bet the house that she's grateful as hell that you were there beside her! Through all our struggles my wife and I both say that her cancer experience had a positive effect on our relationship. we really were focused on her health for such a long period of time and developed a strong spirit of gratitude. From the ashes can come great things.

You are absolutely correct. I didn’t have time to realize i wasn’t in a great place until months later when I was finally able to take a breath. I wouldn’t have said anything about myself anyway because I didn’t want anyone else to have another problem worry about. However it just hit me one day when i realized i wasn’t all there. Never felt like that before so i didn’t understand what was going on with me. It took a little time but i was able to pull myself out of it. I really enjoy running, especially on this greenway we have in my subdivision. I wasn’t able to run much while all of this was going and because of the weather but when I started back running, the antidepressant effect of strenuous running helped me mentally more than any pill ever could. That and prayer.

It sounds like your wife is a badass like mine. I found my gym sessions to have a new vigor and "toughness" when I contemplated how much she had been going through. It sorta made me want to grind harder. She kinda set this bar of what a person can get through for me. Forgive me for posting Elton........... Invalid Link Removed, maybe the day before her surgery when I hit my deadlift PR and criminy, it still hits me in the feels cause I just think of her every time.

Amen to both!
we are only about 6 months post her most recent surgery and are exactly at the 1 year mark of her bad mammogram (things moved fast) but when contemplating the whole process it feels me with a renewed appreciation for her again and again.

XPG Curcuprime gel is probably the best thing I've used for joint pain relief, added bonus being it can be applied directly where the pain is. In my personal experience, cissus is better used for ligament/tendon pain.

Cissus isn't going to increase estrogen or testosterone in the real world. That's one of those things where researchers get into talking theories that just aren't applicable to the real world. As in something that you may can make happen in a lab in a certain environment that isn't going to translate to real life to any noticeable degree. I said the same thing when some companies tried marketing it to increase testosterone - it just isn't going to do it in the real world.

We have people that are serious 90 years old taking Cissus XT and no one has ever reported any hormone effects - positive nor negative.

It's great for tendons, ligament, and joints.

However, I don't think its the best product for her case anyway. I think she'd be better with Joint Support XT or Joint Edge.

Great post and I absolutely agree.

Cissus XT is a great product, but its better for tendons and ligaments imo as well. It helps me a lot with mine, but for joints themselves I like Joint Support XT or Joint Edge and then CurcuPrime Gel which helps me a lot, especially with the tissue damage in my leg.

It looks like this was a multiple thread - someone had tagged me in the other thread and I had it open to reply and now that thread it gone, which is a shame because there were a couple of good replies in that thread.

Joint Support XT or Joint Edge would be the way to go for this.

The reason for that is that both are great for actual joint pain and help thru a variety of different pathways.

I don't think there's a clear cut best out of the two - both are great and have some similarities and just slight differences.

Thank for your response. Yeah somehow I ended up with several threads on this when I only hit send one time.

EvoMuse Nerve restore

Sir, I would highly recommend Nerve Restore by EvoMuse. I Finished 2 bottles ordered two more just yesterday. This has my lower back issues and sciatica nerve feeling great literally no issues. Helped alleviate elbow bursitis issues as well… You won’t regret it Invalid Link Removed

I forgot about Nerve Restore. I love Evo and his products. AndroLo is one of my favorites for my stubborn love handles. It works great. Thank you.

It's easy for that to happen. A lot of times when you go to post a thread, you'll hit post and think it doesn't post because the screen won't change, but it will actually have posted.

It doesn't bother me at all. The only reason I mentioned it was that there were some good replies in the one that got deleted.

Xtreme Performance Gels is a separate company, but I help with formulation, raw material sourcing, etc.

Par Deus, who was the owner of Avant Labs, is the Chief Science Advisor for Xtreme Performance Gels.

Avant Labs was the original company to introduce td products to the sports nutrition industry and they were very popular here and the owner used to post here years ago. He's one of the smartest, most science minded posters in the history of AM, so he's very well respected by a lot of the members that were here back then.

All of the XPG products use the Avant Labs carriers, which a lot of people consider to be the gold standard for td carriers, and Par customizes the carriers based on the individual formulas and ingredients.
