napalm: 12 weeks to WPC Worlds...ya, really...

Yeah we were texting back and forth last night. He said he's been working straps up this week. He basically says my walkout sucks. I got some time to work on it though...

Will there be a mono lift? If so would you still walk out? I know it's all preference and all.

Yes, and by no means am I good at it. I have trouble setting up with my feet in the correct position. At nationals I did a 1/2 step walkout. TBH, I'm not sure I should do that w 407. It was really heavy. I'm gonna have Alex w me for warmups, so he'll assess my set up and get me to where my feet are correct.
 
Good point. I'm gonna have to start adding walkouts in the coming weeks as I never touched what I want to squat...well the range.

I hear you on the foot thing. I still love squatting out of a mono though because you can always shuffle your feet wider or narrower without having to step back, which can throw your foot positioning off a little in its own right. Well, it does mine, because I havent' squatted long enough to ingrain the same pattern I guess.

Yep, IMO the unrack is so important that it would be silly of me not to devote some time to it over the next month...
 
I did walkout with 405 before the meet and it felt heavy as ****.

Unracked 402 at the meet and it felt like a feather.

My review of the stick, by napalm:

This thing is pretty sweet. You can really mash every part of your legs w it. The easiest way to do hamstrings is to lie on your back. When I mashed my adductors, I almost cried. It's not really direct, like a tennis or lacrosse ball, it mashes the whole fcking muscle.

I'm gonna see how it does on my back this evening. You can get your lower erectors with it, but that's about all you can do on your own.

Solid review. I like that thing for calves and IT bands a lot. You can really bend the **** out of that thing.

It also makes a great conversation piece when pulled out of the gym bag.

My whole fcking body still hurts from Monday for some reason. Don't know why, it was only 83 and 87%.

I'm reasonably confident that I weigh like 198 right now. The two scales have been consistent. I've been losing 3 pounds overnight for the last few days as well - also on both scales. One month out I'm thinking of trying to put on like 3 more lbs so id be 198 in the am, and worst case is I have to lose like 3 lbs when I get there.

Thoughts?

Bench tomorrow...
 
I'd err on the side of light, just in case the long flight and other assorted travel bull**** causes you to hold water.
 
So close to comp I don't know how much a few lbs will differ...if it were me the. I'd be you and then what I would do is just stay in the range I was at :D

I guess my thing is "I'm reasonably confident" vs "I'm 100% confident." Now if going in and getting 220 weight wasn't a big deal and really just moving weight was all that mattered I'd say do whatever it takes broham.

Reasonably confident? Where does that get you? I guess the founding fathers were reasonably confident that the deceleration of independence would work. If not, hey it's only a treason charge against the crown.

I guess Brutus and the other 6 were reasonably confident that killin Cesar would be beneficial. Et tu brute?

not a very good touch, but it came off my chest pretty good. i still am a little slow on the eccentric and i don't know fcking why. the manager of my gym, who spotted me said he thinks 275 is there. 2 months ago i would have been happy w 250, now, i'm not sure where i am. i def don't want to leave anything on the bar in prague, but i also don't want to waste a pr in the gym. i think i'll try 260 next week and concentrate more on a faster eccentric and a better touch.

any input is appreciated...
 
You can go faster on the way down next week if you want, as long as you stay as tight as you were there. That was really good stuff.
 
What's your best triple on the bench so far, napalm? How many weeks out are you? Because of your shoulder, do you have any problem attempting for a 3RM PR? Just wondering.

I did 210x3 about a month or so back. I underestimated my template having only benched for around 3 months this year. The shoulders are feeling great - thanks iforce joint help, so I'm milking it for all it's worth. My torn brachialis also feels ok, and that's making a big difference stabilizer wise. I really don't like to go > 3 reps too often though to save wear and tear.

I could prolly do 235-240 for a triple based on my bar speed the last couple weeks. I really don't know ATM, but should have it figured by the time I get to Prague. From today, I think 270-275 shouldn't be that hard. Hell, based on how 260 goes next week I might even bump that up 10 lbs. the big thing right now is that I don't miss one...

Thanks Christine, it's slowly coming along. Getting ready to finish off the chili in a couple minutes.

The stick is great. I really like it. Gonna bring it to the gym to warm up with in weds..

I think your two options are stay the course (meaning stick with your plan of chasing solid singles) or even doing a few extra singles with 250-260 next week. I, too, think you're good for 275 based on that bar speed but would have felt more comfortable making that statement knowing you had done something like 245-250 for a triple very recently. But we're all different, and that bar speed looked easy, so I say you should at least get 275.

Form looks good, but just work on confidence and speeding up that eccentric without losing control of course.

Lol, I really don't have an answer to my 'pumping the brakes' on the eccentric. I'm surprised a certain member who's name begins w r and ends w odja didn't light me up for it! I think it was around that point that I said 'why the fck are you going so slow?'

That's def something I have to be mindful of, I don't want that coming out at worlds. 3 or so singles w 260 sounds like a good idea for next week. I'll film all of them so we can dissect.
 
thanks Sean, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, I haven't pulled an opener yet. However, the best case scenario is 1090-1095 if everything goes well.

The bench eccentric didn't look that slow.....

It slowed down a significant amount in the last inch or so, but it still looked faster than my 251 in Aug.
