MS in chemistry vs MBA

Anyone have any knowledge of either of these fields. I'm torn in what I want to do.. Chem major but the field looks bleak... Should I continue on or go for an MBA after a couple years of work.
I know "if its your passion do it" and what not buy from an outside perspective if I loved both which would be best

I know a guy who graduated with a MS in chem this past year and is already working at a pharma company in delaware doing QC type work on formulas.

A lot more people have MBA's and are going to get MBA's than people with graduate science degrees. Also just depends on what you want to do...be a scientist in a lab or something more business related?

I say go for the science degree.

If anything, I would imagine your prospects would be better with an MS in Chemistry. An MBA means nothing without some experience. You'd have to enter into a program that would set you up with internships through the duration of the program/before you graduate. Otherwise, you just come out with a piece of paper. An MS in chem carries a little more weight. This is just me speaking just speaking relative to the prospects of each degree, since that's what seems to be your concern. What you do with each is up to you and what's available at any particular time. Medical research is hot right now, so are pharmaceutical labs producing research and clinical drugs.

With an MS in chemistry your best prospect would probably be working on a production lab in an industrial chemical plant. You'd want the full PhD to really get dynamic career opportunities in chemistry. With an MBA you have a much wider variety of options.

Thanks for all the responses. So say I go out on a limb and possibly get the MS go work in industry for a few years then possibly do an MBA I'd prospects/decide to head that direction.

I know it's just extra money/schooling but it would still be faster then a Phd

Id think that would be a good combo there
