Mr iForce Dusty Hanshaw...journal to the USA's

Good luck. Its always very enriching reading about the experience that you enjoy as a competitor while transcending lessons as a person. Very much an extension of you. :) God bless. I am sure you will kick ass.

Shawn, thx for the words but as you know no luck is needed. This show has already been a success and I am enjoying every step in the process. No matter what happens on stage I will be my best and have no regrets.

Hey Mr. Hanshaw just wanted to say that I watched a vid you had where you were showing your meals and I tried the chopped up potatoes with spices and it was great ! Good clean carbs

Glad you liked them. They are one of my favorite carb sources for both offseason and precontest

Man did I ever hit the wall yesterday! Woke up at my normal time and went in to blast out my 30 minutes of intervals on the stepmill, did my stretching/rolling, hit abs and then started my work day. Like every Monday I worked in my store for 10:00am-8:00pm and ate four meals while I was there (meal 2-5) ABout twenty minutes before closing time I could tell I was really feeling the exhaustion of the day so I decided that I would drive straight home and crash for 20-30 minutes before heading in to train back. Walked into my house at 8:50pm asked my wife to wake me up at 9:20pm and within what felt like seconds I was out like a light. Crawled to the gym about 9:35pm rolled for about 15 minutes while I waited for my Hemavol and Conquer to kick in and proceeded to have an insane back workout. By about 11:20pm we were done and I was beyond done. I literally had to force myself to walk to the car and make the two min drive home dreading the fact that I still needed to cook my green beans and my 16oz tilapia. Needless to say I was beyond stoked when i walked in the door and saw my wife had already prepped, cooked, and measured my meal so all I had to do was knock it down and crash for the night. Knowing I am starting to really feel the prep I decided to sleep in a bit later and did not head to the stores (work) until almost 2:00pm and now I am feeling great and looking forward to blasting out one of my last arm days before showtime in Vegas.

Man bro that's dedication big ups to you man I feel the same sometimes . I only have time to train early am time 5am-730a then home shower get the children fed get ready for work come home 3days out of the week I work from 3p- 11p and those days suck from being up all day but ya gotta train no matter what! ???

Dusty, what is your current calorie total and macro set up right now?

As I sit here physically exhausted but mentally more focused than ever it is almost hard to believe that I am just 5 days our from stepping on stage for pre judging at the 2013 NPC USA's. I know that every person who competes always says that they are bringing their best look of their life to the stage but in all honesty assuming we don't make any stupid mistakes over the next few days I can honestly say that I know people will immediately be able to see the changes I have made since Nationals 2012. Will it be enough to win and finally achieve pro status? Honestly I cannot say with so many amazing athletes set to hit the stage next weekend but I do know that it will be enough to show my fans that I did everything in my power to be at my very best for this show since having such a sub par showing at Nationals late last year. I'm not going to go into explaining all of the positive changes that we have made with my physique since adding Chris Cormier to the team but I will say that I feel they will be noticeable and that they are just the beginning fo what is to come once I have time to spend a full length off season focused on continuing to improve.

One thing that i get asked all of the time is "if I win" what show do I plan on doing? The honest answer to that is that i have not thought that far ahead because I must first know what happens at this show before making any definitive plans for my next show but I will say that I fully plan on taking a break from the gym and diet for at least six weeks to recover. Do to my travel and appearance schedule that break will not happen until after the Olympia but none the less I know it is needed so no matter what happens at this show I will be taking that break prior to going into full off season mode.

As far as diet and training goes after the show I plan on giving myself two full days to do whatever I want following my final photo shoot but after that it will be right back to the diet and over the course of a few weeks I will be reverse dieting to make sure that I don't blow up to fast. At five days out my weight has been sticking pretty solid at about 270lbs so my plan is to not get over 285 until at least early Sept. By doing this my body will feel best, stay healthy, and it will have the most beneficial change on my training since I will avoid severe back pump, water retention, etc...

Dusty, we are all proud of you. Congrats on cracking the top 5! We all have our opinions on where we feel you should have finished, and most people feel you were higher. Regardless, you are a huge inspiration!

This. You rocked prejudging, and were obviously in a battle for 1st/2nd with Max, and then you came back for the night show looking even BETTER. ****ty outcome, but you brought your best package EVER bar none. You looked awesome man.

I agree with Vaughn...your conditioning was the best of the bunch. I'm sure I can speak for the others here and say that we are disappointed with the outcome.

Stay strong dusty, we will all be following your future journeys. Your love and passion for the sport, and what you bring to it, is far more important than any card of achievement.

Mike
