SO if you had only one meal to have carbs in which meal of the day would it be?

Pre-workout
Post-workout
First meal of the day?

you can use supplements to make up for times that may need carbs but you do not have them...(i.e. pump products)

Pre w/o that's what's going to drive your training.

I would try and space out what carbs u are using though.

I love carbs so I'm biased :)

Carbs are a source of energy mainly.
That's why you would to time it around pre work out. Also it will shuttle nutritents to your muscles which would be good for post work out.

In the morning for energy. :)

Thats my views on em.

All day long :D

Pre w if you had to have em, throw in a nice GDA like bulk Na-R-Ala from NP or SS or Glycobol and you'll notice a bigger impact from your carbs. It helps big time if you're going stim free for a bit. :p

ok so you feel it is most important to have energy pre workout? even more than spiking insulin and driving nutrients into cells?

No. Nutrients into cells is better. You can use energy from another source to make it through a training, and a lot of people train fasted.
Get the nutrients into your muscles :)

Think I voted wrong should have voted post w/o

now thats what I'm talking about!
you can use things like Glycerol, and other volumizers to get the pump, citrulline for endurance and NO production and stims for energy. I looked my best when I trained fasted in the AM. but you need a solid Pre workout and lots of BCAA to do that :)

If i could only have carbs i would have them after my workout. I did a keto diet for a while and got used to fat + protein pre workout and it was fine, saved most of my daily carb intake for post workout and i really saw a difference. Your body can run on fat throughout the day, but carbs are as necessary as protein after a workout.

totally agree with you on this

personally i take soem carbs with my whye pre-wo but Post-WO I REALLY have my cabrs.
say 20gcarb/40g protein pre-wo + 2-3g creatine, then 40-50gcarb/30g protein Post-wo + some creatine.

been usignmostly POSTAL from LG for my Post-wo carbs i just add in extra bcaa's

Post. (High glycemic) Hands down.. If I had a second choice it would be breakfast (high and Low glycemic) I am always starving when i wake up and thats even if I have a meal B4 bed.

Yeah that's why I try carbs through out the day.

But after work out to get the muscles fed like I stated before and then breakfast. It's hard for me to elinimante carbs, but I try and have all carbs before 7pm.

One question protein shakes have carbs you guys are counting that right?

How many carbs a day would be considered low carb?

You count everything, no matter what. Even count calories from BCAA drinks.

Low carb for me won't be low carb for you, or for someone who is 250lbs lol. There's keto, and then there's extreme keto, and then there's simply low carb. I would reckon though that anything under 100g carbs a day will be "low carb" for most people around here. If i'm wanting to gain some serious weight i might eat 400g carbs or more a day easy. When i cut i eat under 100g of carbs as it's the easiest way for me to lose weight.

i've usually heard that 50g a day is considered KETO....

the carbs in protein count yes but most solid proteins carry only 2g of carbs or so per 25g protein.... it wont break the bank.

wtf? Protein does not 'carry' carbs bro dawg, protein can be converted to carbs through gluconeogenesis, but thats a pretty inefficient process as far as I know.

Agreed. For the most part and I say most part I'm usually around 100-150g carbs a day. :)
With that I should stay around maintenance and I should be alright.

I like carbs.

Thanks Shaun for the advice I count for the most part but I'm sure I'm a couple grams off every so often :)

ummmm.... settle down a bit man

i was saying that protein POWDERS carry a couple carbs per scoop ( forgive me for not writing POWDERS, although im pretty sure AaronJP1 knew i meant from powders as he asked about protein shakes) .... not protein itself that wouldn't even make sense, why would I say one macronutrient would carry another macronutrient?

For those looking to FULLY replenish glycogen in the muscles you are RIGHT, gluconeogenesis is very inefficient for that. Protein never enters the Krebs cycle, it must First be broken down into amino acids.

Settle down? I was just blown away some one said protein carried carbs, was unaware you mentioned powders previously so I'm sorry. I'm just here to educate and be educated not start arguments. :D

no harm done, i apologize for getting riled up as well.... sometimes reps try to get under eachothers skins, glad you are not one of those :) hapy friday!
