Montego gets FREAKY

I'm surprised your biceps don't hate you with the weight on the bench and squatbar w/ that volume....must be those DB curls keeping you healthy :)

The high intensity db curls keep injury at bay :)

I would start a little 5x5 training if it wasn't do freaking boring. Back to loading the weight on the bar.

Good stuff in here and I am not really overly excited about Krispy Kreme donuts. We go to a few Mom and Pop places around me for donuts but out of the chains I prefer Shipleys. I am fat by my self imposed standards right now so no donuts for me.

Donuts... mmmmmmm

Back day. First time I've deadlifted in months. After I had the stint lower back pain I removed them but, I decided to put them back in today.

Deads
Sets of 5 working up been 40-50 lbs per set
Final set 405x3 not nearly what I expected but ho hum it's a start. I guess it's true if you don't use it you lose it :)

Chest supported rows (weight per side one arm at a time)
70x12
90x12
115x12
160x10
185x8

Standing cable one arm row
120x12x4

Single arm pulldown with iso tension on opposite arm
50x12-10x4 (forty five seconds per arm on the iso tension)

Nice deads. I had to put them on hold for about 3 weeks myself for similar reasons. Did them again 2 days ago and it felt great getting back. Lower back feels great so the temporary layoff worked

Mines already a little bit tight :( . I only belted up on the final working set because I thought I had another couple plates left in me. First two reps moved nicely but were much more of a struggle then I expected. Last rep wasn't a grind but form went out the window and the next attempted rep was about six inches then stalled.

I'll continue to keep them in my rotations but won't ramp the weight in this fashion for a while. Some higher rep work for a couple weeks should get the form back then I'll add some banded resistance before pulling the heavier weights again.

I was surprised with the chest supported rows though. Haven't done those in a long time either and they felt rather easy/good. Next time I'll strap up on those and pile a few more lbs on.

After reading all these threads about home gyms I've decided as soon as I get s garage there will be a monster setup installed. So jelly right now

Yeah buddy .... home gym is where its at. Not as many different pieces of equipment but if you have a solid rack, and a good olympic weight setup you can do just about all you need without all those fancy pieces of equip in the typical overcrowded gym. I went home gym style 4yrs ago and have never looked back .... especially after reading all the posts here on AM about the douchebags in the gym etc....

As for the deadlifts .... I have yet to invest in a belt but I am seriously considering it at the moment. As I get older and the weight continues to go up I think I am gonna have to get one.

I'm looking for a house with an old barn or a big ass shed when I buy. F the local gyms. Too many wanna bes and meatheads here

Id recommend the belt. I love mine. Im pissed it's outgrown me...

You'll find a fat guy to sell it off in no time....
Montego1 deads most definitely fall off hard once you take a few months from them.....much like grip really. It'll come right back if you get consistent again.

Jerks.

I had a sweet tooth so while I was grocery shopping I grabbed one of the Quest Bar peanut butter cups.......AWFUL. Dry, chalky and horrible taste. Stay away from these.

I put a pool table in our front garage years ago, but told the wife that I was going to turn it into a gym. She said as long as the pool table is moved to the back porch ($400 to move an re-felt). I'm worried I'd have it moved and before I had the money to get a rack she'd decide to put something else in there.

Every bar I find at a grocery store is dry. I don't think they sell enough of them.

Still here.

Also, you tried something like the rehband or SBD sleeves for your knees? Might help for your lower body days.

It makes things a lot easier, especially if you work long hours.

I should be closing on my house in February and already went and took measurements to see how big of a shed I can put in the back lol. Mine is in the garage at my mother's house now, but I want the garage in my new place to house my classic Chevy lol.

I like them mixed in with some greek yogurt or blended in a protein shake. By themselves, not so good.

the ones I have had, have tasted ok, just need a liter of water per cup!

Oh, crumbled into protein ice cream they are good too!

I trained chest and shoulders again today. Passed legs to give the knees an extra day.

Incline db press
40x12
65x12
85x12
100x12
110x12
120x12
130x10 90x12 60x12

Guillotine press ss side lateral
155x15x5
35x12x5

Incline Smith close grip (not focusing on triceps just upper pec)
200x10x4

Heavy side lateral ss db shrugs
50x10x4
90x20x4

Rear Delt Destroyer set
50x60
25x30
15x20

Calf raise on hack machine
225x25x15

Workout went really well. I had a little muscle pain in my upper left pec/Delt tie in more towards the pec on the final two sets of db presses.

Massaged the area between sets and it feels fine but spooked me a tad. Felt like a strain so I just kept conscious about it moving forward.

Crazy strong DB inclines.

Those are some serious side laterals that's for sure. Nice work :notworthy:

Lol I'm wirey lately in the strength department :)

So....How bout them patriots. Another scandal I see lol.

And after a big workout a guy needs a big meal.

Honey B Ham here has a special that's two burgers, two fries and two drinks for ten bucks....yep I'll have some of that please. Killed the burgers and one of the fries. Both drinks were unsweet tea. It's a little early on for my cheat meal but hey.....It's the off season :)

My kind of workout(albeit a tad heavier than I can go lol) and my kind of meal for a beast workout!

Oh the burgers were awesome. This place gets voted best burger in the county all the time. There is also a place down the road called Burgerfresh that I love. They have bison and all types of exotic meats and combos for burgers. I dunno the obsession with Five Guys in the first place but these two places keep me out of there either way lol.

My favorite burger from Burgerfresh is beef patty with a fried egg and peanut butter. A freaking mazing.

These in the Woodlands? I've never heard of them but they sound awesome.

There in Conroe homie. I would go to burger fresh first. It's just awesome with all the different combos they have.

That's not terrible, I'll probably go after squats on Saturday.

If it sucks, I will be expecting you to refund my purchase lol.

Lol. It's off of 45 gladstell. Coming from the woodlands you exit gladstell take a left under the overpass and it'll be on your right in a little strip center. It's the only thing there and it's a hole in the wall. I suggest sourdough jalapeno bread btw.

Use to get fried egg on burgers over in Germany! Quite tasty!!

Subbed. Am I too late for the party?

Dude your dumbbell inclines are like as strong as my flat dumbbells
DANG (Joe Dirt)

I don't use a very steep incline on those. Just the first notch on the free bench. I actually feel the upper pec much more this way instead of incorporating shoulders as much. So probably not as impressive as you think :)

Yeah this. Definitely do whatever you can to undermine and discredit your own success & progress. It's, um...the right thing to do?

Just being truthful lol. That 45degree incline stuff is for the birds man. I can't get a great stretch in that position to begin with without some major discomfort.

With the lower incline I can easily touch the Delt/pec tie in with the inside of the dumbbell every rep without any discomfort.

Legs legs legs

Leg extension
Five sets of ten with three second holds at the top and a pause at the bottom to eliminate momentum. Only worked up to 110 on these for the warm-up.

Lost count of sets but I was in major pain....I don't normally make sounds while lifting but there were some grunts on these few final sets. 150 for all of them

No more!

I tried intra workout carbs again today. I have used them before many times and wasn't a fan. Vitargo,Glycophuse,Karbolyn tried em all. Today I tried 50g Karbolyn (new formula) and 15g BCAA/SAA. Placebo maybe but I felt pretty darn good during the session. I've got a giant tub of Karb left so I'm going to go through that then try Intra-MD if I continue to like the way I feel.

Holy volume Batman! I'm glad my leg day tomorrow is moderate. Your volume is just insane!

Didn't expect the session to go like this honestly but, my knees felt great and I just kept going lol.

Awesome. And consider some knee sleeves like Jim Buick mentioned. I never started wearing them "for performance". They don't do jack, except maybe the first day you use them cuz they're brand spanking new. I got them because I had chronic knee pain from squatting 5x/wk for a few months. They let me train through it they made me feel so much better.

Oh and I also only do a slight incline - waaaaay nicer on ma' shoulders. I was just saying that you should own your accomplishments just like you'd own your failures. Sure there's tons of people stronger but you worked hard to get where you're at and there's nothing wrong with the satisfaction that comes with hard work.

Ah I see what you're saying. I have more then 130's in the tank though :)
