Montego an Snagency tag-team with FINAFLEX in the corner

dude you are in the houston area - you telling me you cannot find a posing coach who will set up a few sessions and nothing else?
I know a lot of those guys like to go full boat on you and charge you for their "cookie cutter plan" and set # of sessions, but still..oughtta be somebody you can find that will drop basic poses on your for fairly cheap
alas - the time to figure this out and try to get something together is NOT 3 weeks out from your show..this is why I have been harping on you for so long now

No there isn't anywhere fairly cheap. I've called about six different places and it's all the same stuff. Put that on top of my whacked out schedule and there you go. Also the money issue is another large factor. Like we just talked about money is strapped.

I'm meeting with a friend this week who owns a supp company and competes. He is going to help me out as much as possible and I learn quick so I'll be as ready as I can be. The guy knows his stuff so it's my best option.

aye - competing (and doing right) is not cheap, no doubt
you've done well to this point learning on your own, it's just different in person when you can get first hand guidance & critique as you pose, in real-action time .... I think you'll be fine, and even better if/when your guy can at least eyeball you in action, but my point here is that it is VERY common for guys to not put the same kind of effort into learning the art of posing as they do their supplements & drugs/food/etc, and by the time they get close and realize show is around corner, it's like whooaa.....and then it really hits home if they have a judge them flatly their posing sucks (I talk from real life experience here - cost me first place one time, when I was in same division as another guy who looked great but he was a damn posing god, and head judge told me straight up dude you have a great build, but your posing compared to other guy was atrocious)

Totally understand. I've been hammering out the sessions at home in the mirror tweaking things. Much more fluid now and it doesn't take me as long to get into position anymore. Still my front and rear relaxed are annoying and the hardest ones to get close atm.

Don't worry guys. I'm working my ass off.

Routine music.

Eminem - Cinderella Man [LYRICS] [HD]: Invalid Link Removed

The very first part where he is talking hits home with me. The chorus between verses too.

The whole song has great parts that I wanna use lol.

Eminem - Won't back down is still close second though lol.

wow interesting choice (and not that it matters but - my least favorite song on that cd LOL)
but yeah the part you highlight there, sure I can see that
one thing to keep in mind too - not all shows (but certainly some) will DQ you for offensive or lewd lyrics and music..
always good to know the stance of the guy running the show, before making your choice of music
if such is the case, you may need either some editing software or a PG version of the song, whichever suits you best

Yes be careful not to have any portion of the song that is illicit in description or cursing.

By the way Monte swung by to pick up a posing DVD from me this morning, he didn't get out of the car but I could easily see how lean he was. Face gaunt, veins everywhere in his arms. He is looking good!

hmmm
not sure I've ever heard "gaunt face" be referred to as a positive thing before..
LOL good stuff tho, of course I know what you mean
no secret - the man is on a mission

Haha, I kind of figured that would sound odd but I also knew that those who had been through the process would know exactly what I was referring too.

I was doing curls while circling the block so I was extra vascular. If it's one thing women love it's a vascular man :P

Thanks again Chris. You really have helped me quite a bit without even knowing it during the prep along with everyone else. Hats of to you guys for sticking with me!

Nice so you did steering wheel curls eh? Nothing wrong with a little isometric action while driving. ;)

oh my workout this morning - something a bit different
chest/abs

8x3 flat DB bench
3x8 inc DB bench
3x12-15 hammer strength inclines
3x12-20 inc pulley flyes (these were pretty hard)
10 sets of ab work
out

tennis on deck at ~315p...loving me these two-a-days, been missing them while I took last week off from tennis

Going to go in for shoulders later. Should be an eventful session and I'll see about getting some pumped pics put up..been a while on those.

Nice! I need to get mine soon for the El Paso August beginners competition. You can get them the day of.
true - but I don't like doing anything last minute...preparation makes things so much nicer

tennis was good, well played crisp game...got 2 sets in before the rain came, pair of 6-3 wins for me
this might have been best I played all yr, was doing everything I wanted to out there, painting lines like van gogh, serving like a beast..
knees were absolutely pain-free and moving with no problems whatsoever
my kid better be prepared this week :D

As promised

A bit flat. Was a long hardcore session. Best one in a month hands down. Guess glycogen was all gone by the time I took pics I.e. not much vascularity.

What are the average dues for tennis clubs? Been playing since the college days, but since moving to El Paso, haven't played cos I think the club fees are too high. What is a decent club due?
club fees are silly expensive, at least around here
I play outdoors, we have several public courts at parks that are very nice and well kept, plus couple high schools with newer courts we can play on as long as school team is not practicing or having matches
tennis is very underground here so-to-speak, but there are couple diehards I know (thank god) plus some guys in USTA (as am I), so it's not too hard to find a game pretty much at will

sidenote: hell I played my ex-wife not too long ago - good golly has her game improved!
was shocking, but she's moving around better and has much better footwork and more power in her stroke now
tough to keep pace with all these peeps, when I am on the decline myself lolol....

Quoted so I can be Mirin your gains
Wait... Wut

Edit: Monte you've made such great progress, damn brother

nice solid leg session today, really enthused about it since I played tennis 2 straight days prior, and was still strong like bull and not really sore..

3x5 BB squat
2x8 machine hack squat
2x10 leg extension
3x5 BB SLDL
3x8 leg curls
3x10 BB standing calf raise
2x10 seated calf raise

veins in legs were pretty damn profuse, peeking out at me from underneath my shorts here & there..

Posing tweaks.

Tweaked side triceps with juniorab advice. Grabbed my wrist instead of my thumb and curled my wrist towards my back. I just got done doing pullovers so I had a triceps pump and there was some separation lost but this position allows me to place more tension on my triceps and really makes my shoulder pop.

On the lat spread I moved my hands up my waist a bit so my hands were pushing in on my floating rib as MrKleen73 suggested to me and it worked perfectly! Actually moved the v taper up and enhanced it quite a bit along with opening my back up even more.

I've got a vein that peaks out from under my shorts sometimes but it's the main vein :) *da dun duh*

posing looks good hombre, much better, very smooth & confident - great smile on that tri shot
don't forget to paint that damn smile on your face the whole time you up on stage

Front relaxed: Invalid Link Removed

Used my door to keep my shoulders back. Almost there......better at least.

Might want to smile during all your posing practice. Your smile needs to become automatic every time you pose, 2nd nature so to speak. You don't want to be thinking on stage about smiling, it just needs to automatically happen.

BREAKING NEWS!

I will be entering the novice class as well as the open. I was going to skip novice but talking with Kleen I decided to do both. SO! I might have three trophies at the end of the show :P

I used to play with senior city management. So much for not picking up the golf clubs....I thought tennis would benefit my career more.
I never answered your question specifically did I? :p
rough guidelines on club pricing in my city: they have several levels of membership depending on your age and other factors, but for adult, you have enrollment fee and all that jazz, then ~$30/mo for membership - BUT, you still gotta pay for the court in hour-long blocks, even when you are a member....court costs $20/hr with member discount, and if you take a non-member in you have to pay like $25 guest fee per hour

I thought about doing it in winter time, just so I could keep my game sharp in off-season, but I choose to save that money and instead rest/recuperate from all the wear & tear I do to myself during summer

I like the sound of this... good luck brother.

Will be great experience, and double your chances of winning or at least getting noticed by the judges for your next competition.

Looking good Monte!

Monte your posing is much better, especially the rear shots.

For the front relaxed you have your arms too wide, and you're not spreading the lats enough..
Chest up abs vacuumed, lats spread without arms getting too high

Yeah. Still working on this one. My fkin rib cage is so wide I dunno how much lat will be able to show. Still working

Feeling rough today. Instead of my normal cardio I did an extra long posing session last night. Soooo this morning my abs and back are sore lol.

Also another night of little sleep. Maybe four hours? All gonna be worth it though! Gonna get some chest in and tan. Here we go!

Btw.

Since I'm doing novice and open I had questions about if I would do two routines at the night show.

I emailed Brian Dobson the promoter and he said since novice is judged first at the night show I would only pose for that class and it's a sixty second routine.....but open class is a ninety second routine.......

Steve didn't you do both your first show? Anybody else have a definitive answer?

one free-posing routine is all you will do
but why the differing times between the two divisions? never heard of it, makes no sense either
in any event, just get your 60sec down and memorized, and even if you are in the 90sec class it won't matter, you don't have to go the 90 distance no worries

Aww that kind of sucks that you don't get an option to choose. I would definitely choose to pose in the Open class if I had to pick though. Then again, might be nice to only have been compared to other novice competitors. If you stood out above them and they move your scoring to the Open posing routine it may work out to your benefit. Other guys scores will be compared to other experienced posers while yours would be scored from being compared to novices.

As far as the posing i wrote up comments yesterday and somehow didn't post them. The hand position on the rear lat spread looked much better and not pulling the skin made the back look tighter. You are showing a lot more lats in the front relaxed but we will work on them tomorrow night to get them popping out better. The can go wide because we can see them plenty wide when you do your front double biceps so it isn't a limitation of the rib cage. Just gotta tweak the movements a bit until they just drop out. Once I am watching you I will be able to figure out what is being tensed that is keeping them from coming out as far.

Yeah they call you by number not by class so since I enter the novice first that will be my routine.

Well....my song choice isn't gonna work lol.

Any suggestions?
