You can send that $5 to me now. Of course it will, tons of amazing new music out there. Not everything new is crap, and not everything old is gold.
The things that meant something to you back then and remind you of that time will always be better for you. That's just being nostalgic, and in 50 years the people who love the new stuff will also be nostalgic for the music of their era. I am sure there was music your parents loved that you thought was okay or even good but didn't love like them, and I imagine they thought a lot of your favorite bands like Ozzy / Black Sabbath was horrible and crap. Same thing.
There is no way that Linkin Park, Metallica, Papa Roach, 21 Pilots, My Chemical Romance, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Jay Z, Maroon 5, or any of the TOP entertainers won't still be getting listened too on classic radio stations. People are still listening to rap, and new wave / pop from the 80's and 90's. Every genre has it's classics and they stick around as long as the people who loved them. The greats of any genre are always going to be the greats and there hits will always be considered classics by their fans.
Tons of great rap out there too, deeper, and lyrically amazing stuff. Most of that never makes it to the radio but trust there is lots of good quality stuff. It just isn't for you. Like I said tons of good in the new as well as the old. Just different strokes for different folks.
Loved the shining!
