Agree 100% another former fat guy here. What you think you are eating be what you are actual putting in your body are two different things .. listen to Fire Titan my man knows his stuffMy new friend....trust me when I say "watching" what you eat just doesnt fly man!! Honestly, the best advice I can give you is that if you actually want to learn about dieting and be able to gain control you need 3 tools. A pencil, a notebook and a scale.
Weigh/measure EVERYTHING before it goes in your mouth and record all of it in a notebook.
The notebook alone has been used in one study where they asked participants to use a notebook and record what they ate just 1 day a week and they found thAt, even when people were not trying to lose weight, the simple fact they were recording their food intake created new and healthier eating habits.

Great job in the progress! That is a huge amount of weight to lose. I started off around 300 pounds at 5'8''. I didn't go from eating Chinese food and take out food every day to just doing everything right. I still don't do everything right. But just getting some basic things together and starting to exercise regularly I lost 40 pounds over about 18 or so months.
Over time I became more and more disciplined and learned to adopt new habits over time. I actually had fears and anxiety over dieting...we are always warned not to eat too little or be unhealthy when dieting. But once I decided to diet and be strict, I made much faster progress. But it takes time and it is an interesting journey to look back and compare how you felt at the beginning to how you feel when you get to "the other side".
In agreement with the log. But I really didn't realize how bad I was lying to myself until I started weighing my food. Youd be surprised at how "off" you are with guesstimates! But, I started weighing my food, them logging in MyFitnessPal and starting seeing results. Once youve done it for a while, you can more accurately guess the weight of certain things if youre on the run or without a scale. Like, I know a chicken breast thats the size of my open hand is approximately 6oz. I promise, we goof off so much, but we would never tell you anything inaccurate! We usually know because weve done it. And, if we dont know, we will direct you to the appropriate person for the job.

FYI, I know a few of you get butt hurt if I dont reply or post after a little bit, so Im forewarning you. Tomorrow (Saturday)will be different. I'm leaving the fire department a few hours early and taking my son hunting, thenndoing a little cardio, maybe, I have yet to sleep, then Im off to bed for the day as I have to work EMS tomorrow night. So im thinking Ill take the first dose at 0400, hopefully my colon will attack BEFORE I get to the woods, but that way it wont interrupt my day sleep. Then the second dose will be sometime before I start my shift. Should be good times!! I actually thought about both doses before shift, but not sure. Ill make up my mind.
