We are an educated crowd of supplement users here, and also a very small fraction of consumers in the industry.

Over 500 Canadian athletes completed a survey on their supplement use and answered why they are using each.
"When athletes were asked to evaluate their knowledge of the reasons for taking dietary supplements six percent were “not sure”, 22 % said they knew the reasons for “some” of the supplements, 30 % said they knew the purpose of “many” of the supplements they took, and 42 % reported they knew the reasons for taking “all” of their supplements."
This is interesting to see athletes not even caring to research what they are taking (albeit age ranges went down to 12, but in the upper age group to 25 the answers were about the same.
A big part of the supplement use reasoning was that they were "told it helps"
^this is why flashy labels and big claims work.
"Protein powders, BCAA, and glutamine were strongly linked to performance reasons for supplementation; however, beta-alanine was not. Energy drinks were associated with muscle mass/strength, endurance, increase energy, and recovery but not overall athletic performance. Sport/electrolyte drinks, sport gels and gummies, sport/protein bars, and recovery drinks were associated with all performance reasons as was creatine, with the exception of increase energy (Table 4). Plant extracts were associated with muscle mass/strength, increase energy, overall athletic performance, however, the association was not as strong as with many other supplements (Table 4)."
Did you guys see a performance aid there? (Top)
I saw BA, which they apparently did not associate correctly.
But never fear, apparently energy drinks = muscle mass but not performance.
Wait, what...?
In a market saturated with misinformation (as is a lot of the fitness world) and also a general lack of research put in before purchases we need to step up.
Particularly because of how young some of these athletes are starting..,
As annoying as it may be to people I will always strive to inform the uninformed. In the gym, online, or while watching someone spend a fortune on detox drinks.
