McNabb's Comments on ESPN

They trash Clarke all the time for the moves he makes. They still don't like Schmidt and think he's a whack job. Same goes with Carlton.

They are pissed off fans in a championship starved city and they will do and say anything to justify slamming the athletes that don't get them a championship. You feel you deserve a championship from the players but sorry, you don't. Keep treating your superstars the way you do and you will find more athletes leave. Look what happened to Phillies already and the Eagles continue to lose players year after year and you choose to bash the one that give you the best chance of winning and has never said one bad thing about the city, the fans (even they booed him on draft day) or the orginization. And thats Mcnabb. He's done nothing but win, except for a SB. But single players don't win SB's. Teams do.

So all Philly fans congratulate Duce Staley because he now has a ring.

That is nuts. I've lived all of the place and its not even close. Elway never received the kind of criticism before he won that you will see in Philly. Same goes for Marino and Manning today. Philly BY FAR is more harsh. Its not even close. NY is a close second.

Steve Young was on the verge of being traded because the defense gave up 30 points to Dallas in 1992, and 38 to Dallas in 1993 when they lost in the NFC championship game LMAO, but he didn't have to go through the personal insults and being booed on draft day. Getting booed on your draft day has got be terrible, it's like your customers spitting on your face and you haven't done anything wrong LOL.

Philly fans are nuts. When the 'skins went up there about five years ago the Redskin ( a old guy who dresses up in Redskins outfit and goes to all the home games) was beaten so bad he was put in the hospital. The guy is like 70+ yrs old.

You have no idea what you're talking about here. Elway had a lot more scrutiny in Denver than McNabb will ever have. The press would follow his kids around and report what kind of candy he gave out on Halloween and then criticised him for it. Not even in the same ballpark. The pressure that was put on Elway by the city of Denver after 3 blowout SB losses dwarfed anything that McNabb has had to go through or ever will.
 
No, actually you don't have any idea what you are talking about. My brother lived in Bighton for 4 years (or somewhere around there...was 10 years ago) so I know EXACTLY how the media is out there and its NOT EVEN CLOSE. Comparing the Denver media and pressure to Philly and New York is laughable.

Obvisouly you haven't been to Philly much because the pressure their fans put on their team outweighs anything you will EVER have in Denver.

But then again I forgot the world revolves around Denver to you.

We need a poll to see who is crazier, Raider fans or Eagle fans LOL. I've actually seen a pretty crazy Eagles fan AT CANDLESTICK in a game between the 49ers and Buccaneers throw a urine bag at a 18-20 year old guy wearing an Aikman jersey :rofl:

It happens everyday on talk radio. They insult him everyday from quesitoning his manhood to calling him a choker and coward. There is a reason the talk radio here gets national attention and its because they are so brutal and downright mean. Many of my friends live in New York and even they said its worse. WFAN is timid when it comes to WIP.

It's not just the Denver media, it's the entire state of Colorado that revolves around what the Bronco's are doing. In Philly you don't just have the Eagles but the Phillies and 76er's that share(and somewhat the Flyers) the spotlight. Despite the fact that the Avalanche have won the Stanley Cup and the presence of the Rockies and Nuggets, it all revolves around the Broncos in Colorado. When the Eagles can sell out 10 straight years, then come talk to me about the fervor of the fans versus Denver(who are going on 40+ straight years of sellouts, even back in the 60's and early 70's when the Bronco's sucked, which is the all time franchise record of any pro team in any pro sport.) I used the halloween candy thing as an example of the minuteau(sp?) that is observed concerning the Broncos(and Elway). Now just imagine how bad it gets when they(the press and fans) get serious.
 
The whole situation is a joke.

It is OBVIOUS from the quotes that McNabb turned it into a racial issue. The only way you can argue against that is if you can read Terrel Owens' mind.

Yeah, but that was the VET. Lincoln field is a whole 'nother deal. I could go to see the Eagles at the vet, pay 18 bucks to sit in the 700 level, if the game sucked you could always see a couple of good fights in the stands. Especially, if somebody had the balls to wear a Giants or Cowboys jersey. Lincoln is a $200 day, just to park and watch the game!

I think that Elway was similar to Mcnabb in alot of ways. Their playing styles are virtually identical. Elways has the hall of fame gun, but Dmac has better wheels. They were both stifiled by offensive styles that are too pass oriented. When Shanahan brought the run to Denver, they became Champions. I hope someone tells Andy Reid the secret...Offensive lines with big running games , win big games! (Hello Pittsburg)

Criticism-wise, Elway got more from the national media, while Mcnabb gets it more from home...but haters hate, that's just what they do...

I hope Mcnabb's ego can allow for some help from the running game. It was obvious that it could not handle the help at wide receiver!

The truth is Mcnabb is black. I cannot imagine that he has not heard some kind of race or color related criticism before he entered the NFL. That's life in the USA.
I thought Ricky Williams was the better pick at the time. Boy was I wrong! Mcnabb has already had a better career than I ever thought was possible!..BUT I STILL WANT A SUPERBOWL WINNER...and when you **** that up, I will let you know about it!
I don't know if Mcnabb can finish like Elway. Time will tell!...One thing that I know is certain...Dallas will always suck!!!!!

Sorry, its obvious you haven't been there because the Eagles BY FAR have more attention than all the other 3 teams combined. It doens't matter if your whole state covers them, you don't even come close the population of Philly and the tri state area. Philly has 3 times the population in just the city itself. You are the 25th biggest city in the US. Philly is 5th. Both newspapers here have a higher circulation then your one! You aren't even in the same ballpark. Oh yeah, Comcast is based there as well.

Sellouts mean nothing. By your standard Denver has more a media and fan base than New York which is laughable. You simply have less going on.

You seem to forget that I have seen it when it was serious. Its not even close. I have seen both and the local media here is MUCH larger as well as teh fanbase because they are tied into New York since the same companies who own WFAN and the New York post own their Philly counterparts. A hell of lot more happens over here than in Denver and they are STILL front page when its football season.

Ferver of your fans? Give me a break. Fans here phyically attack other teams. Go ask Jimmy Johnson....or Tie Domi....or the host of fans of other teams that dare to showup with other teams jerseys.

I have seen it. Its 10x more laid back there than Philly. Comparing them is ridiculous. I like Kornheiser's description.

And it's not just Philly McNabb gets punked in. He live in the corridor btween DC and NY. The media in both towns cover the Eagles. Why? Because they are in the same division as the "Skins and Giants.
When McNabb came out with that interview with Mike Smith every station in DC and Baltimore had local commentry on it. I mean three to four times a day.
 
I don't get it, why would the fans be so hard on him ? Do they really want McMahon to be the QB next year ? Philly fans just don't know how good they have it with McNabb. I'd take him on the 49ers in a heartbeat. He was hurt for the most part all of last season, I think after taking the team to the NFC championship game 4 years in a row, and 1 Super Bowl deserves a little more slack than what he's getting.
