Married men, what kind of wedding ring did you buy ?

my wifes (picture a page or two back) is a D that is certed as a SI3, but was laser drilled + filled so its actually a VS1 other than that. but since it was drilled it has to be listed as the SI3. absolutely eye perfect, and throws colored reflections all over the car roof when the sun hits it while her hands are on the steering wheel :)

thats another thing about the trillions too, they look way bigger because they are thin. so the 1.25 ct trillion looks bigger than a 3ct round

where did you get yours from and what was the cost?

it was around $3200 in that custom white gold ring, from that Invalid Link Removed . if you look at their work, they really enjoy the custom crafting, and their markup on the diamonds is minimal. they are physically in portland oregon, but do most of their business online. really nice people, i've visited them in person as well

EDIT: I was off, the stone is 1.23ct, I paid $2668 for the stone, $255 for the ring, $40 for insured shipping :) for a total of $2963 in august 03.

well as long as you handle the insurance and the appraisal, she will never know the true value. the cheapest way to insure a ring is through a homeowners policy.. its an easy add-on

If you cant tell the difference between a real rock and a lab created one without the use of a diagnostic machine.. then whats the point in supporting Debeers?

Debeers....bleh. They are a cartel and monopoly.

lol

I can tell the difference between a zirconia and a real diamond with the naked eye. However, I can't tell the difference between a real diamond and a moissonite stone, even using a loop or magscope.

zirconia after you get familar with diamonds for awhile is easy to tell the difference. I can but I have to touch it.

moissonite/diamond you have to be pretty damn good to tell those 2 apart without any type of equipment.

I "heard" the diamonds are not actually rare at all. Debeers just bought as many as they could up a century ago and stores them in a vault to "artificially" make them appear to be rare. That's a smart tactic, but not one I have any desire to support.

I love the idea of the "synthetic" diamonds, especially since they are real diamonds and not a fake substance. I hope after seeing movies like "Blood Diamond", that the synthetic ones rise in popularity as they are more socially and environmentally friendly.

Maybe the size of the diamond should be inversely proportional to the number of guys she slept with before you :P

Dabeers is a cartel and monopoly. They squash out all their competitors and sell with a mark up of 1000%+

Everything you heard is correct. They are not rare per se. Dabeers just makes them rare.

yea man, ive heard the same rumor before. apparently they have a flux of small diamonds which is why they are pushing those 'journey' pendants with the 4-6 smaller diamonds.

DeBeers controls something like 50% of the market (probably more through trade agreements). My gf watched Blood Diamond and next thing i knew, she was googling lab-created diamonds. As long as it sparkles..she doesnt care how much it costs. Shes in law school in miami... so there is a certain 'status' associated with the ring on your finger... luckily shes ok with shortcuts.

i love love my ring :) hm, it was $3200 and the center is .75 carats and the outside is .25 but i have really teensy fingers (size 4) and the design itself make it look much bigger.

i know of someone who complained that her fiance bought her a 3 carat diamond instead of a 4 and so she was upset and thought that it looked too small. crazy girl... i'll take a three carat :)

pretty cool site. Can u give a pic of the ring...maybe options u selected. That would be cool.

I got her a simple ring. We both like solitaire settings. She probably would have beat my azz if I spent more. She understands the concept of the joint account: I make the money, she controls it

That woman is uneducated. Even if the diamond is 1 carat, the other 3 characteristics of the diamond can raise the value of the diamond significantly. I would know having just bought one for my fiance. If you get a colorless, excellent cut, internally flawless, at a carat, that can run you easily past 10K. What's better, a huge ass yellow-tinted diamond with flaws inside or a smaller one cut well so no light is lost in refraction and no internal flaws colorless that looks bigger because it is so brilliant. Ya know?

My wife and I have a matching set of Tiffany's black titanium and silver rings.

Hell, I'm going to be on my THIRD one not long from now...lol. I already purchased an engagement ring that I had custom made for my chick. It has a 2 carat radiant cut center stone. I wanteda quality diamond and went all out on the rating instead of just size. The diamond is mounted with a antique setting, square at the top with 112 diamonds mounted around the top and sides of the setting and on the three sides of the band. All is set in white gold. I paid $16,000.00 for it, but it has been appraised for over $20,000.00.

The wedding portion I still need to have made, but it's going to consist of the same diamonds as are set in the setting and band, just a lot more. I'm just broke now...lol

I was listening to the radio this morning, and they usually have a topic that they talk about.

There was a woman who was 26 who called in that recently got engaged (3 weeks ago). The guy bought her a white gold ring with a 1 caret diamond.

She was calling in to the radio b/c she was upset and she wanted a 4 caret diamond in platinum, not white gold.

So because of this, she hasen't told anyone (friends/family) that she was proposed to by this guy, b/c inevitably they will ask to see the ring which in her words, she is incredibly embarassed about.

She only wears the ring around him, but really hates it and says she has 'high' standards and shouldn't settle for a ring that she dosen't want.

One of her solutions was to "accidently" lose it.

Discuss. The phones are open.

Her ass needs to be fired...pronto!!!!
In the long run, that is NOT the type of woman you want to be with, and that will never leave you. :run:

If I found out, id get the ring back, and and probably do the break up in a bar, from the mic on stage or something. So everone can know what this woman is like. j/k

Either way, I seriously hope he finds out what he really has on his hands, and shows her the the door.

The flip side is:
If a few years down the road, a guy wants to replace the ring with siomething really sweet....have at it. I know a lot of people do this.
I commented on a ladys looney toons size diamond ring at work recently. She said her husband got it for her on their 10th wedding anniversary.

somewhere i heard that the cost should be about equal to 3 months pay. the type of ring it is depends entirely on the girl and you, and your feelings about her, and expression of your love and commitment to her.

i bought my wife an okay ring several months after being married, because you're supposed to have rings. i meant.. ex-wife.

a buddy of mine bought some cheap junk out of the quarter machine at target (kmart/walmart/whatever, same stuff). well, for his ex wife anyway.

it is what it is :)
