I just saw a thread on a certain bodybuilding forum ..... that asked "is it okay if i add hersheys chocolate syrup to my weight gainer to make it taste better?"

just had to share!

That other site is a god damn joke in general lol 5 years there I learned 10% of what I learned here in 2 months
This is exactly how I feel about TOS.

Then you did not use the site properly. Both BB.com and AM have their perks and knowledgeable posters. The smart consumer will draw their own conclusions from the two different schools of thought and apply them accordingly.

ive been a member off and on over there, this site is less cluttered and more member friendly...i randomly add dark choc to plain greek yogurt for flavoring and anti ox capabilities......its more of a treat though

This...there are plenty of stupidity on all boards, its just the nature of the internet.

eh...i disagree to an extent. i dont see NEARLY as much dumb threads/questions on here vs over there. literally every other thread or possibly even more is dumb and stuff that can be googled.

Right, but the brightest members of that board are also more knowledgeable than the brightest members of this board. Again, both have their benefits. One place is ridden with politics, the other is very open to people (I won't name names).

yeah but its also more popular. i mean, when a newb wants to join a forum, does he think of body building or anabolic minds for his google search? i know i would search body building forum....so they have a larger crop to choose from. kind of like public school sports vs private school sports.

and the brightest members of this board dont post on here often to share their knowledge because they have a good job! haha

I never meant to imply amounts...some boards have more traffic than others but I will repeat ALL boards have ignorant stuff posted on them.

I hope you told him that it was absolutely not okay for him to add that garbage to his weight gainer.

Everyone knows Nesquick is the only way to go.

Haha my roommate won't drink his shake without adding some nesquick to it, true story

omg lol.

Well if he's bulking and needs the calories post workout then ... meh.. I still disagree with the high fructose load of sucrose in general but doesnt that stuff have HFCS? Regardless, funny lol.

Whenever I go on that forum all I ever see is people whipping out their junk and having a size contest... evidently that is directly correlated with how much knowledge and expertise you have in the area

what forum are you posting on?!?!

most weight gainers are full of maltodextrin so i few tablespoons of chocolate syrup wont make a difference. I dont see why that was such a dumb question you that had to repost it.

lol I think it was a metaphor ;)

I really wouldn't be too concerned...I don't actually add it, but if I had a ****ty tasting protein powder, I'd certainly consider it. Simple carbs post-WO, and not to argue it up with you, but it seems like more and more most people are realizing that the "scare" behind HFCS is mainly just a hype. I agree fructose isn't the most desirable simply sugar to supplement a diet, but personally, I'd be much more adamant about avoiding hydrogenated fats and such that add trans fat to our foods than I would be towards avoiding a certain carb source.

Actually, now that I'm looking it up, it doesn't look like there's any HFCS in nesquick. So that argument is kind of moot lol.

Also, I noticed in the store the other day that they now make nesquick that's like 20cals a serving. If I even do get an awful protein powder, I'd certainly consider it. Not much of a caloric load, mainly just some artificial sweeteners more than likely.

Hehe, my beef was more just against HFCS as one of my friends downs 2 cans of coke post workout saying the HFCS is great as PWO. Granted he is pretty heavy and definitely over 25% bf... HFCS's liver metabolism is my only enemy. But if you are burning more than you are taking in, it is LESS detrimental than if you were just sitting down consuming those 2 cans of coke. :)

Fair enough.

And to be honest, I never really "got" the whole concept of drinking carbs post-WO. I understand if you want maltodextrin or dextrose specifically and need it in powder form, but when it really comes down to it, why not satiate yourself with food rather than downing drinks? Same with protein...would rather eat a pound of beef and get 100g protein than downing 4 scoops of whey in a shake lol, even if whey essentially has a better profile than most of the whole food sources we can obtain (beef still has an incredible profile, no discounting it).

Can't agree with his thought process, even if he's pressed for time. If he's just going for sugar...why the hell would you drink two cans of coke instead of eating a bag of swedish fish? I swear those things have crack in them they're so addictive/good lol.

Fully agree with all your points. People get carried away with optimizing the extra 1%.
