Friday 20/11/15 - 10days post op

So I have been called in for an emergency MRI today after speaking to my surgeon and explaining the leg pain and movement that brought it on.

Fingers crossed it's all ok

Been for MRI they put the dye in my blood so can see scar tissue etc. Get results tomorrow when go see surgeon
 
Man, I hope you aren't in the same boat as me. Mine felt good for 10 days after, then it has been hell for the last 10days. Keep me posted what the surgeon tells you. It might just be the inflammation from surgery still pressing the nerve and it might calm down, hopefully

What's your plan of action now?
Ye man I'm hoping it's not gone again, would be so gutted. The surgeon has given me this MRI for free aswell which was nice of him
 
Well they gave me another epidural injection right at the point of where it was herniated. Seemed to calm it down some. They just told me to rest, ice, and walk 10 mins twice a day. Basically they said sometime healing from these suck hard

Mate they told you 10 mins twice a day? Don't over do it.

Ye feeling good but I had like an open wound epidural after the op

No quick way to get around this bud. Take it easy!!! Well ATM I still have a slight bit of it but it's masked by pain killers. Hopefully it'll subside again soon.... At least nothing on the nerve now
 
Still no leg pain. Sometimes feels like firing off but nothing to worry about. surgeon came round this morning with another pot full of disc material, surprised there is any left
 
Tuesday 24/11/15 - 2 days post revision op

Leg pain has come back today, guess the internal anaesthetic has worn off quick.
Very sore ATM as you can imagine. Just taken one day at a time and very steady

Leg pain is back again!?!? no good brother.... But maybe it will fade. For me, even on pain meds, my pain comes and goes. Sometimes I can get up easy, others it's a struggle..... No pattern. This back stuff man, it's rough. Glad you're outta surgery though boss

Ye it's rough as feck dude. It faded last time so I'm positive it'll do the same again. After all, it's been messed with my metallic instruments twice now. Was squashed both times.

You doing ok?
 
Yeah man, I think I'm doing a little better. Gonna take it nice and slow now, just keep my mind focused on the prize at the end (the gym). You in the hospital or at home?

Struggling with sleeping tho, 4;30am here. Cannot sleep coz in pain

They are gonna have to up mine I think, as they aren't killing the pain anymore. Also, I went to get up from toilet earlier (it's really low) and about passed out from pain standing.... Now I'm super sore.
I feel like we are getting unlucky with these surgeries

Man yours sounds bad, sounds like a serious problem. I have bought a raised toilet seat from Amazon, 6"higher. It's fantastic!

Yeah I'm going to have to get one. Going back to the doctor next week, bc the pain is getting unbearable again. I figure something has to be wrong
 
That's what I'm worried about.... The MRI is just showing massive amounts of inflammation.... And something called Facets disease. I read the radiologist reports on my MRI and the report kept mentioning significant facets disease which my doc has never said anything about. I guess it can cause severe debilitating pain too

Ye you can get bad pain from facet joints IIRC

I don't know what it is, but I tried to go to my families for thanksgiving holiday today and getting in and out of an SUV put me in tears, and now I am laying down and can't move without excruciating pain..... So I don't know man, something's up.... Got better for a few days post hospital, now is awful once more, 10/10 pain

I'm not doing any car journeys for 6 weeks

Just weighed myself now, I've lost about 8lbs and looking smaller now.

Feeling good tho ATM.
 
Sunday 29/11/15 - 7 days post 2nd op

So I am feeling stiff and sore today, I've had a bad 24 hours of doing things I shouldn't, just without realising, bending to pat the dog, twisting etc. Luckily nothing like last time has happened, but it is so easily done! Gotta be careful
 
Monday 30/11/15 - 8 days post 2nd op

So I had more shooting leg pain last night, feel very sore and just like I did when did it the second time! Hope to god I haven't done it again.

Don't feel bad brother, I got up today and had INTENSE pain for like 10 seconds and woke up on the floor like 10 minutes later, with the fan I landed on smashed, so I'm at the doctor for the 273636 time :( these back surgeries man

Sounds like you have some other issues, you must've had a lot more core strength and support than I. Unfortunately my issues and pain seem to lie with the disc. Just hope I haven't done it again, I don't want a fusion! I'd prob go down the epidural route and then wait for body to absorb the herniation

Yeah the problem with the epidural is that sometimes they don't work.... Sometimes they work like a charm. Yeah man I got something else nasty going on, we just need to find out what
 
So I thought I would let you know boss, they found a pretty big infection and abcess in the disc and bone of the spine. Having emergency surgery in 5 hours.... 6am my time. Pretty serious, wish me luck bro

****, good luck mate! Hope all goes well. I am back in tomorrow to see if I have re re herniated!!!
 
well they said it was successful.... MUCH bigger incision this time so if hurts pretty bad, so I got a morphine pump :)

Nope didn't reinjure the disc at all, they just had to cut out the infection..... And then keep me hospitalized for 4-5 days while they culture the infection :(

That's good then! So your disc will most likely have clotted and scarred over now. Glad you are on the mend bro..., I'm absolutely sick to death and wish I had never had any op at all
