like to ride bikes?

Ha Ha I'm just messing with you. I love all riders and thats how it should be. I wave to the harleys, some wave back some dont, some point 1 finger up at me and I laugh. Its all in the love of the 2 wheels.

If we have to explain, you wouldn't understand

I would love to hear your reasoning for them...... Maybe its because of those damm crotch rockets blowing past you, spitting rocks at your legs? :box:

It's amazing how some jump to insults and such. I was merely pointing out the differences between. Many points here good and bad for both. If you wanna lay down and race then stay of a HD it will only disappoint you. You want raw torgue that will pull a load on any hill run a HD. Wanna carry load or tow it run a HD.

Thanks Harleyhoney for telling it like you see it. Real men dont have to impress anyone.

If the rest of ya dont know what the chaps are for you have alot to learn. I appreciate anyone that rides no matter what their choice. Just making a statement as to why I choose what I do. Then we have the riders that run in shorts and sandals, or let their girls ride in shorts as well. I tell ya if you come off for any reason you will regeret it for the rest of your life. The road gives no mercy. Gold wings yeah they ride like cars and all that, so just buy a car as far as I am concerned. I want a machine not a Hi-tech car like piece of technology. You can keep the radios and reverse gears and all that stuff. Kind of like the difference between a Hot Rod and an import sports car. I do believe load pipes save lives as well as sound good. The cage drivers are gonna know I am there. As to my comment about alot to learn when it comes to "living" and riding... 100+ mph and wheelies have no place on the street. If you havent been down yet you are lucky or it just hasn't happened yet. Same goes for the dumb**s riders that bar hop. I have seen far to many die because they didn't ride safe and sensibly. It's all about what you enjoy and what you want out of it. Those HD riders that ride and are sore is because they ride for looks and not comfort. So they buy bad seating, bad bars and the like, and can't understand the discomfort. I prefer the factory HD with some personalization of course. They quit making hard tails for a reason many years ago. They dropped the suicide shift for a reason as well. Yes I have had and built both but but not for riding. HD riders tend to appreciate the simple mechanics of its design and that fact that it is not hidden. I also don't believe HD copies anyone. They pioneer instead. The Vrod is pure Harley built to appeal to the crotch rocket crowd. A manufacturee must build what the public will buy or they die. Hence the reason most have been building HD-like rides since the begining. Did you know the first Jap bikes were HD replicas. Study the history of HD and learn before you comment. Like I said they did the shaft if I remember in the early 40s but never again. It steals to much power with bad sides. The belt was on the 1st HD. they discontinued that till technology allowed a bulletproof design. But the chain is still king in longevity and endurance. HDs were always servicable by the owner and that was a major feature to most. Most of the custom hogs you see today arent even HDs.

Lets keep it friendly as we share our opinions. It's fine to differ but we dont have to personaly attack one another. This kind of confrontation has been going on in the car cultures for years as well, but you dont see them hating each other. It adds dimension to our sport. Let's not let it segregate us. Ther are some out there that wish that so they can eliminate our enjoyment of the open road. I have met many HD riders that built theirs to eat any import on the street. It can be done, the factory just doesnt do it. Of course there is the Buell but that's a horse of another color.

Ride ON...

I was merely trying to point out that one bad case of road rash and they will understand the "biker's" leathers. Not only are they great protection but very sexy on a nice butt.

My posts are always friendly or intended to be

Harley Davidsons are nice bikes but I can buy a bike with better stats and comfort for a lot less money. I ride because I like to ride. Doesn't matter if it's on a Ninja a HD or some Suzuki HD knock off. If a HD gets your rocks off that's cool but don't tell me I can't enjoy the open road because my tank badges aren't the same as yours.

Best friend of mine bought his 100 anniversary HD for 21k and still had to put aftermarket chrome/pipes/PC etc into it that cost an additional 6-7 grand. So let's be on the bottom side and say 25k total.

I paid a little over 9k to ride out of the shop with my 2005 c90. I may only get 4-6k when I decide to get something else but the 3-5k loss will be well earned.

I ride with anyone willing to ride :) Hell I did Rolling Thunder on a Ninja surrounded by thousands of cruiders and tourers :P
I ride with with anyone too, provided they have some common sense and are willing to use it. I've had Honda's, and a Triumph, and loved them all. On our one day trip to Daytona yesterday we had a HD Ultra Classic, 2 HD Dyna Glides, (one was mine), 2 Yamaha Road Star's, and a Honda & a Kawasaki, both cruisers that I don't know the exact model of. All the bikes were sharp. You really have to look close now to see if they aren't HD's. Had a great time and saw the Orange County Chopper display across from Destinations Daytona, the new HD shop that has a hotel and a shopping plaza built on. Awesome place. Had about 75 vendors setup outside selling everything. Went down to the Iorn Horse Saloon, Boot Hill Saloon, (both of which were set up like mini carnivals with vendors galore. You could get pretty much anything you wanted. Even Speeds custom shop had a trailer set up and was doing customizing while you wait. Then we cruised down to Main Street. I've never seen so many bikes of all kinds in my life. It was too much! Nobody pays any attention to what kind of bike everyone else is driving. As far as HD riders not getting ny respect anymore, I disagree totaly with that statement. For the amount of people that swarm into the Ormond Beach/Daytona Beach area, everyone seemed be extremely respectful of each other. People leave their jackets, packs, helments, sitting right on their bikes and walk away for hours at a time without anyone steal their property. That to me shows a great deal of respect from all that ride, regardless of the type or make.

My bike on Main Street.

I wave to everyone on a bike! Cruising home on I-95 yesterday, a group of about 5 crotch rockets (or cafe racers, that's what we called them when I had my Honda 750 setup), came up on my left and slowed down, looked over at me, I waved, they didn't, then they all got on it and must have been doing well over a 100. I waved at them again about five miles up the interstate when they were on the side with the two State Troopers.........
It's all good. As long as you enjoy riding and you use common sense out there, it's one of lifes greatest enjoyments. Just ride safe, never drink alcohol while riding (or driving anything!), and enjoy the road!

Thought some of you would be interested in the e-mail I recieved. Images also. Regardless of what type of bike you ride, be careful out there.
"The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.
At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken."

I'll tell you this, I rode my Honda cafe style from Florida up through the Blue Ridge Parkway and all the way to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington. Then I split from the group and took I-95 back to Florida. As a cafe rider I certainly had issues. I walked bent over for two weeks!
