like to ride bikes?

that was crazy. fastest I ever went on my sportbike was 180mph...and that was too fast even for a straight shot.

Damn, now I feel like a bitch, the fastest it did was 118. Only had it for 3 weeks though. I guess thats not to bad. Smoked a mustang and some other clowns around base. Was good enough for me.

I think thats guys crossing the line between courage and stupidity, or maybe he has a death wish. Either way... Holy **** thats fast lol :jaw:

The two bikes currently in my garage are a Hayabusa and a turbocharged GSXR 1000. I've spent quality time on the wild side of 200 mph (gps verified in case any of you want to try to tell me my speedometer was off - it was WAY off by the way).

how you like your GSXR 1000? I plan on getting one in the next couple of years...wanted one of those things so bad.. No a big fan of the haybusas though...its just the look...they look too "bulky" for my liking even though they are ridiculous fast.

I have mixed feelings about the GSXR 1000. It is touted as a mental bike, crazy power in such a lightweight chasis, but I found it quite unthrilling to ride in stock form. Bear in mind that I'm a bit of a riding freak - I actually enjoy riding my Hayabusa in the twisties more because it's more of a chore and a challenge to hustle through quickly. Not to mention the kick I get when I pass by all the squids out there who think they're cornering as fast as possible on their latest and greatest racer-replica machines. One can't help but deny that it takes skill to do something like this.

However, on the GSXR 1000 - People seem to chalk it up to the bike itself. It dosn't matter to them if they're on the exact same type of bike, they will say it's my tires or the way I have my suspension tweaked. The young crowd is full of haters and pretenders who are full of excuses and ****. Since my turbo system is not very noticable, I get my biggest kicks out of coaxing unsuspecting riders into impromptu races (in safe areas of course, not down a neighborhood or in traffic). I will stay neck to neck with them until they look like they're losing steam - Anywhere between 110-140mph typically, and then I'll nail it, hoink it up into a power wheelie and ride off into the distance. Gives me the giggles every time.

But I do end up taking the busa out more frequently even though I'll agree with you that it's butt-ugly. It's also more "disposable" since it doesn't have so much money invested in it, and seeing how I'm on my third one...

If you plan on riding long distance get yourself a busa, my buddy has 1 and I hop on that thing every chance I get. I have a 03 954 and love it but my back hates me if I'm on it for more than 2-3 hours at a time. Hey blesum do you think that the Gsxr 1000 has to much power to weight? I have riden it and it just seems to wheelie happy. Oh well I just re-read your post you said you have a turbo charged.... Jesus I thought I was crazy lol.... That brings back some boxer stained memory's, last summer I rode a 346hp (to rear wheel) busa on the e-way.. I was going 170 and hit it and whoop 12 O clock it stood!!! Wasn't joking when I said stained memory's HAHAH

I personally thought the GSXR 1000 was underpowered and not as wheelie-prone as I had wanted it to be. I'm not happy unless it scares me in every single gear. It still doesn't and I plan to sell the bike when riding season starts up again for the squids. Hopefully they won't be too scared to even test ride it like the last squid was. He showed up with the cash, looked at the the test ride contract. :study: He balked after thinking about it for a few hard minutes.

As far as comfort - I had the bike set up and tuned in Ohio. I flew out there in the early spring and rode it back to the west coast. Had to be one of the most fun rides I've ever had even though I had one solid day of rain and one solid day of snow.

I had a 929rr for a while. Had to be one of the best handling bikes I ever had, next to the Duke II.

Uhh, the squid is the one doing stoppies on open roads not your average riders. They're just beginners. Any of your top bikes will do roughly 180mph and it takes thousands to go 20-30 miles faster. Not really worth it. Unless you're just in it for the numbers.

I used to moonlight as a stunt rider with spar frame 7/11 GSXR's and B12's before the Star Boyz era. Things got nuts and I left that scene around that time for greener (and less painful) pastures. The majority of you have probably seen me on your TV screens although I won't reveal more than that.

OK now that the boy toys have been discussed how about a REAL Motorcycle. Harley Davidson the motorcycle that has rocked the world since 1903. Yeah it's not a racer by design but still the only real motorcycle on the street. The rest are just street legal racing machines waiting to kill another over confident super rider. Want to drag check out the new HD drag bike. It will dominate from amatuer to pro. Follow the leader as they set the stage. And if you don't think it's a motorcycle, why in heck does everyone want to copy it? Don't have anything against the imports, just the difference between a bike enthusiast and a Motorcycle rider. I ride for me and no one else. And for you custom chopper guys. If it don't say Harley Davidson on the title it doesn't measure up when it comes to resale. Compare custom cars to originals. Nothing matches the value of preserved original. So I guess it boils down to why do you ride? If it's only the thrill of speed and danger then you have a lot to learn my friend about the enjoyment of owning and "living" with a motorcycle. JMO

Smoky I have nothing against Harley's, you would never catch me dead on one either lol.... And I'm sure you would say the same for the imports. We were just talking about this at work today and you either like Harley's or you don't. Some people cant handle all that power so thats why they make Harley's for the OLD folk HAHAHA :icon_lol:

Check it out!

The VRXSE Screamin' Eagle® V-Rod® Destroyer™ is H-D's first out-of-the-box, drag racing motorcycle. Based on the VRSC™ family and tuned by Custom Vehicle Operations, this bike can do a quarter mile run in under 10 seconds. :woohoo:

I rode a Harley XR 750 flat tracker. It was fast.

I've had quite a few bikes in my time. I have a HD FXDX Dyna Glide now, and I love it. I only hit 100 a few times on some rural back roads, but that is fast enough for an "old guy" like me. I see these young guys on their crotch rockets looking about as comfortable as a peg leged midget with a porcupine up their ass...I just cruise on by (or let them fly on by....) with my forward foot controls and (way comfortable) and my low rider seat (like sitting on a pillow).....I've done a few thing to it; Vance & Hines Short Shot headers, Screaming Eagle intake, a few cosmetics.....Going to Daytona tomorrow, (Bike Week).
BTW, the girls love it! I get looks from all the sweeties...

Ha Ha they aren't as bad as they seem to be honest. I have never riden a Harley type so I cant compare.

Harley Davidsons are nice bikes but I can buy a bike with better stats and comfort for a lot less money. I ride because I like to ride. Doesn't matter if it's on a Ninja a HD or some Suzuki HD knock off. If a HD gets your rocks off that's cool but don't tell me I can't enjoy the open road because my tank badges aren't the same as yours.

Best friend of mine bought his 100 anniversary HD for 21k and still had to put aftermarket chrome/pipes/PC etc into it that cost an additional 6-7 grand. So let's be on the bottom side and say 25k total.

I paid a little over 9k to ride out of the shop with my 2005 c90. I may only get 4-6k when I decide to get something else but the 3-5k loss will be well earned.

I ride with anyone willing to ride :) Hell I did Rolling Thunder on a Ninja surrounded by thousands of cruiders and tourers :P

The R1 is a bad looking bike, I rode a 2002 and the only bad thing I have to say about it is that its VERY light in the front end. I don't know much about the 2005/2006 besides they look NICCCCE!

Good power? I don't need to be the fastest guy out there...but I'd like to be able to hang...
If I get one, it will be my first sports bike....Good choice?

Oh hell ya bro!!! Have you ridden before?

Yea I can ride....mostly motocross, but I've had a fair amount of time on the road too.
How are they to mod?? I just can't leave it stock!

Some people will say that a 1000 is too much for your first bike, but seeing how u know how to ride already I would say go for it, just respect 1st gear lol... About modding it I would tear off your lic plate bracket for sure! The pipe is under the seat which is NICE looking to me, just get a new slip on :-) Not sure where the turn signals are at on that bike but I'm sure that wont be a huge problem. Other than that man that bike is bad looking. You asked if that bike would be fast enough, with all those bikes its really a matter of the rider. I have seen some crazy **** racing in the streets of Detroit, 600's beating busas... Woman beating the sh*t out of men down the quarter mile. That bike is plenty powerful in the right hands!

Now that I look better at that picture the rear turn signals are on the lic plate bracket so that is good when you ditch........... Wait a sec with that bike I've seen the turn signals in the brake light its BAD AZZZ! So that takes care of that problem.... Bad ass bike!

Sweet! I think I would go right to the R-1 instead of the 6 just because I would hate to have to buy a new bike in a year...I kinda get attached to my toys! Thanks for your input bro!

Yes I have seen too many people buy 600s and 6 months later they want to trade it in for a 1000. The main difference between the 2 is first gear. 600's won't really come up unlike the 1000's. Not saying 600 wont come up they will just little more work. Just becareful and respect the bike no matter which 1 you get. But the way buy a second helmet because the woman LOVE those things!!!!!!!!

Your liter bikes are a little bit harder in the twisties too. a 600 would be better, imo, if you're just a weekend twistie or track rider. If you want balls to the walls open road power plus the ability to hit the turns then the 1k's will do it.

You can get just about anything for these bikes you want so upgrading the r-1's aren't hard. Matter of fact, i'll be getting the r-1 this summer or fall. Unless you're a pro rider then you won't outride any of the top sport bikes. I would go for looks/comfort first.

I take all my bikes on long rides so getting the smaller bikes is too much on em. Although the possiblity of getting a 636 is there too as a track bike :P

Dependability and serviceability are right next to ridability with the HD. Lets trip 700+ miles and see who can walk away comfortably. And that includes a good woman and all the support equipment you can carry. Torgue is the name of the game with the HD. Lets chain them together and watch the HD drag the import anywhere it wants to go. A slight twist of the grip and it will pull the house down and never complain. Just happens to be the most customizable motorcycle in the world. Road side service and parts availability second to none. Not that I have ever needed it in 30+ years of riding but its good to know no matter where in the world you are a shop is not far away. I have had a few imports when I was younger and hated the fact they change the design every year just to keep you from working on it. Keeps shops and third party folks from investing in parts manufacturing as well. Parts dont interchange much let alone having to visit your dealer for alot of the parts you may need. Not to mention I like to support American products as well. I can buy one set of tools and work on every HD made since 1903. The imports are all unique and require special tooling an parts kits just for maintenance. When I owned my own bike shop I gave up on keeping up with the requirements just for simple maintenance like valves and parts adjustments. HD has been getting it right for a long time. Alot of folks dont know that Harley invented the the belt drive and made shaft drives but quit because they suck. Yeah you get used to it but you loose to much torgue and the torgue lift is akward to say the least. I guess when a bike becomes a disposable commoditiy to you then the imports make some sense. Where do you want to go?

lol, please dont do that to yourself, or my insurance rates.

Having never ridden before, an R1 is no where near a good starter bike.

Do yourself a favor and take the MSF in your area.

I have yet to meet someone who can use a 600 to the limit, and your talking about a 1000. With a 600 you have a little play for mistakes. A 1000, a little twist at the wrong time, and you will find yourself eating asphault.

BTW having ridden motorcross means nothing except you know where the controls are.

Dont take this post the wrong way, but being on sport bike forums these posts come up all the time and it gets old hearing someone whos never ridden, talk about how they're going to 'outgrow' a bike that does 150-160 easy..(r6)

If i were you i would look for a used 600 and learn slow on it. these bikes arent a joke man.

My two rides...

Typical Harley rider, which is why you get no respect. Its sad really, because that is the mentality of 90% of harley riders. If your not on a loud ass hog, you are inferior.

No one is on here talking smack about HDs so keep your comments to yourself.

Btw, the reason a harley is so comfortable is because its a CRUISER.
A sportbike was designed and tested with one thing in mind, racing. They arent meant to be ridden from state to state enjoying scenic routes.

hah! I've ridden many, many places over long distances and when you talk to the riders afterwards the Harley riders are always the sorest and not to mention these bikes in the dead of southern summers will cook your nuts off.

Even though I don't like them a Honda Goldwing will outride a HD any day of the week in distance and comfort runs. Those things are ****in cars on two wheels. The damn things have reverse. Not to mention there are many different styles of bikes out there to match all the harley styles and visa versa. Harley is trying to get part of the sportbike money too. Don't act like everyone copies off them only.

And to add to what Clintdogg said. That's the reason why they get such a bad rap. Too much of an attitude for people who are supposed to love riding for what it is. being on the open road enjoying yourself.

Any feedback on a R-1??? I LOVE the way they look! Sexy as hell!
Anyone have one or ridden one??:head:
A guy that lives in my apartment owns one.....105mph in first gear!!!(slightly in red light)
At around seventy five in first gear he says the front wheel comes off no matter what.

Glad I stopped by. Difference between Harleys and those little racing bikes it simply, men ride HD's, BOYS ride little bikes, simple it's nads vs no nads
