Lightsabers!!!

That was probably the best lightsabe fight I've seen. The kids did some cool tricks with those things.
 
Yeah, its badass. A friend and I were planning to do a rotoscoped lightsaber battle short this year...dont know if we can come close to that!

Not bad at all. Good fight choreography and the editing and camera angles were pretty good too. Take a look at how many people worked on it too, gives you an idea how much of a headache a feature length movie with that stuff in it must be. When I was a bit younger and nerdies I was going to write up a screenplay for Dune and a bunch of my friends and I were going to animate it on the computer with some pirated software one of us had. Never went anywhere. Still crosses my mind sometime, what I might make the body shields and worms look like specifically.

Hell, if you've got the equipment/software it's fun. I've scripted a few shorts for people that ended up going no where, but the production process was a blast. Nothing I ever wrote would require something like that though. Zombie make-up, that's another story. I played a corpse in one, the limit of my acting ability and I even ****ed that up because my breathing is so evident. Definitely go for it though, you'll have an awesome time.

I saw this one last night. I loved the floor portion of the fight. The ending was hilarious too.

Anyone know what software they use for this kind of thing? I'd love to just mess with some movies in general.

That's definitely the best one yet - those guys looks like they were really going at it!

The lightsaber effect is done via frame-by-frame rotoscoping:

I have to do this, if only to make my old man smile (huge sci-fi nut) Maybe I can film it in the gym or something...Ill miss a squat and slice the power rack in half:)

I've done similar things with still photos. Don't know that I'd have the patience to do a whole clip.

Edit: Batch rendering. Didn't know that was possible.
