Do you find barbell rows tax your lower back and effect your lower body sessions?

I toyed with them last night but didn't stick with it bc of that.

I only do them once in awhile. Like once every two weeks. If I tried to program them in regularly then yes I could definitely see that. I honestly don't really like them. Just throw them in to mix it up. At my gym all I can do is cable row, chest supported row, and barbell row. The dumbbells are too light.

I use to think the same about dB's until I really started approaching the lift like a bber. Then I was able to get more out of less.

Yeah, I could do them with a pause at the top with exaggerated negatives. It's just annoying lol

I agree lol. Part of what drew me to powerlifting was lifting big weights so reg db rows with 100-125 makes me feel better then 80s with all the bodybuilding flare. But you do what you can with what you have.

Have a great day tomorrow swim

Agreed. Ain't nobody getting big and strong sitting around complaining

Kroc rows too. That's why Kroc invented them. Personally when I do rows, it's with less. That's why I like KB rows. I do everything in my power to move the most weight with the least effort on the main move, then move the least possible effective weight with the most tension or effort on the moves that are in the routine to build muscle.

I do. Anything leaning over, really. That's why I do my upper back movements the day after deadlifting.

If your DBs are too light, put a light-ish band around your wrists and really pull it apart while you're rowing. It ought to fry your lats.

Paul Carter just had a great little post about tension in the muscle

Kroc rows get annoying when you can do 50+ reps with the 100s (with straps, mind you). But I hear ya. Treating accessory work like a bodybuilder is the way to go.

Are Krocs supposed to be done with straps?

I was scared to lol. And actually, if I remember correctly, in the tnation article he (he was a he at that time) wrote regarding kroc rows he said he alternated weeks using straps one week then no streps the next. I think he said rep record weeks were without straps and when he did something along the lines of 3x10/2x6 he used straps.

I enjoyed it. The powercast had been getting better and better IMO. And thanks for the info! Makes sense

I hear ya on the long days.

I tell myself to always get to the gym. Once I'm there, stuff happens. I just need to remind myself of that. Logging here on AM helps too. I know I'll be held accountable lol

Yup, just have to get there is all. I have never found logging helped keep me accountable tho lol.

I think a lot of guys/gals use the logging aspect as motivation here. I think it does help.
I also use the logging aspect here as my "notebook". Saves me from entering twice.

So, what type of work is this new job? Desk oriented? Related to your field of study?
Have you joined the ranks of corporate America...lol

Yeah, I enjoy the comradery around here.

Definitely not desk oriented. I'm on my feet for 8 hours. Store manager in retail at the moment. Within a year I might very well be on the corporate side though. They promote within pretty quickly. Not related to my field...I was sick of it, honestly. I can't wait until I graduate. At this point I'm just using my degree to say I have a masters in something.

Ehh that happens man. When just starting out a job is a job. Having the opportunity for quick promotion is the big thing, that and a company that has some prospect of growth..

14hr days take their toll after awhile. Never worked retail but my ex was a store manager and I saw the stress it could create. Good luck with the job and just always stay an optimist! Lifting helps in that aspect!
Corporate America is worse so hopefully they aren't too large where everyone is just a #.

3 of those hours are commuting right now. Once I move it'll be 15 minutes round trip, thankfully.

But thanks turf! I really do appreciate the kind words.

I do a 2 hour commute (round way, sometimes more or less but 2 is standard) with anywhere from an 8-12 hour workday.

Recently bought a slow cooker so that helps with one aspect lol.
