But they play some times. This guy may just collect (and donate) 53grand and he might not even have to do anything! I am surprised that they don’t activate some one from the practice squad. IDK the thought of getting a call from some one asking to go watch a football game from the sidelines and get a check just shocked me

Backup QBs help with play calling from the sidelines too, don't they?
If that's the case it makes sense to bring an experienced QB in instead of a practice squad guy. (although, I assume Romo will be on the sideline and could do that either way)

I didnt think about the 2nd set of side line eyes idea, I would imagine after back surgery Romo is going to be laid up at home or watching the game at the hospital.
