He also ended up admitting to sharing needles with people and all kinds of drug abuse. He sure milked it for notoriety and pity though didn't he...

Ughhh been a bit since I updated, been sick since Saturday. I have kept up my dosing of Var at night but cut the creatine down to 15-20g in the AM instead of 30. I may work it back up but the bloat and whatnot was not helping with how I was feeling. I also dissolved it in hot water and drank it alongside my coffee. I found that I was not finishing my coffee when it had the creatine in it. Just made it a flavor I did not enjoy.

I weighed myself Saturday morning after a pretty strict week and my weight was back up to 209.7, there is definitely a little bloating and I am constantly peeing now. Not overly sure how well this is working right now. Of course having been sick the last several days there has been no training and I am not sure that I will be doing any training tonight either. I am back at work today but still not feeling 100%. I either got a stomach bug, or ate bad food so I haven't been feeling well at all, and trying to get calories in when I felt good enough to eat. So I just kind of ate whatever the family was eating for dinner.

As far as progress goes, it is really hard to tell my stomach is still distended a bit from being sick, but it wasn't a puke and diarrhea fest so wasn't one of those illnesses where I came back in unintentionally leaner. There was some of that involved but more just feeling sick to my stomach, and constantly uncomfortable. If I did somehow make progress, the extra water from the creatine is hiding some of it.

Well I hope you are feeling better as the day go's on.

Could it possibly be from starting the var? I remember when I started an oral cycle once that I felt HORRIBLE the first few days. Constant nausea, some acid reflux and other annoyances

It could but I am pretty sure that it was from the meal I ate, or me having a bug due to the quick onset of it. I wasn't even done with it when I started thinking this might upset my stomach. It thought it might be because it had a lot of grease in it. However it was a dish called Discado which is really just a bunch of meats mostly sausage with some veggies sauted on a cast iron hot plate or disk... I have to wonder if the sausage they used had been sitting out for a bit or something.

Sometimes I will get a bit of what you mentioned about 2 weeks in, but this didn't feel like that. That typically comes with lethargy, and the heartburn starts out gradual, then increases. This was pretty much a direct response to the food. Within 2 hours I had indigestion, and then couldn't find a comfortable way to lay in bed without puke and acid coming up in my throat. Was about 3Am the first time I puked and it all went downhill from there. I hurled the rest of the night then dry heaved for the rest of the day, since I was fasting there wasn't anything to throw up and no way I was trying to eat.

I don't know that it was what I ate, or a bug that was starting to kick my backside about the same time I had that meal but it was no bueno. To me at least didn't feel like that feeling I get occasionally when an oral cycle starts to bother me. It felt more like I had a gnarly stomach bug.

I remember something similar on var. The constant peeing I attribute to DHT and a slight swelling of the prostate, at the beginning of the cycle.
Feeling a bit off (ill) too.

Well I hope you are feeling better as the day go's on.
Actually stated feeling better as the day went on. Thank goodness.
Hope you are feeling well again soon mate!
I actually feel pretty good today. No nausea at all now. Was actually doing pretty well after getting some food in me yesterday.

Yeah, one of the things that Spurfy was mentioning was that Var really messed with appetite when taken during the day. Caused lethargy and a few other things as well. So that makes sense on most cycles too. Hoping it isn't a factor here and this was just a bit of bad food or stomach bug.

The DHT could be a factor in the urination I guess but I know for sure that the creatine is a massive part of it for me. I piss non stop when on creatine. Always have. Part of the reason I mentioned early on that I was going to have to increase my water intake in order to not get dehydrated from it. I literally get that dry mouthed kind of thirsty from peeing so much on creatine.

Well said!
Gracias!

Well last night I decided I was just going to go out there and pump a bit. What was going to just be a get some blood into everything turned into a really good upper body workout. It also felt nice to just do what I wanted and felt like for a little bit. My shoulders are a little beat up and pushing in the lower rep ranges hasn't been going too well for me recently. I think I am just going to go instinctive for a bit. Get in 3-4 training days a week, lots of high energy, low rest work. Hit whatever rep ranges I feel I am up to, get in and get out. No reason for me to be focusing on heavier performance based stuff when I just need to move and burn energy right now to achieve my goals.

I am still going to focus on getting in some sprinting, body weight stuff and the like mixed into everything but the weight training days are going to be more instinctive for how I am feeling. Will definitely still have body weight stuff in them and shorter rest periods but I am going to give the joints a break while focusing on this. Seems every time I grab a barbell lately some ache pops up so probably will focus more on DB's use barbells more sparingly.

A summary of the workout last night. I didn't do any serious tracking, just hard work.

Done as a superset but secondary exercise was changed to ring dips after 2 sets.
1a)Wide Grip Pull Ups x10, Shoulder Width x9, 5, 3
This probably doesn't look like much but this is a major improvement for reps on the 2nd set.
1b)DB Shoulder Press 35x15x2, 1b2) Ring Dips x8, 4 I wanted to warm the shoulders up even more before attackng the ring dips, and I knew CNS wasn't going to let me do 4 sets of ring dips anyway so I incorporated some shoulder pressing to get more blood in the shoulders and triceps before hitting them. Definite improvement in dips getting 8 in my first set. I have only done sets of 5 before.

Did a set of Bench on machine and didn't like how it felt on the shoulders decided to do ring push ups instead.

2a) Ring Push Ups Sub Max x 5 rounds - each set stopped once I noticed instability creeping into the movements - did these going into a full on hollow bridge including scapular protraction.
2b) Heavy Supinated Grip Cable Rows - 200+lbs (4rth plate from bottom) x RPE9 x 5 sets - reps were about 15 on first set and dropped down to 8 by the 5th set.

Pump Circuit - x 4 rounds first 3 rounds to RPE9 4rth to failure
Plate Side/Rear Raises 10lbs x 3 sets @RPE9, and 1 set to failure
Barbell Curls 45 x 3 sets @ RPE9 and 1 set to failure
Rope Triceps Ext - 2p x 3 sets @RPE9, and 1 set to failure

Pec Deck - 2p x 60-70 reps with flex in peak contraction

I looked massive at the end of this session and was feeling great. Had an unreal pump going, that's for sure.

I feel like I am going the wrong way on the physique aspect right now. To me this morning I look more watery and softer. This is not the way I want to go with this. I know it is from the creatine but I am still holding out to see what happens. If the addition of creatine gives me the impression I am growing better then great, but if I am not noticeably bigger or tighter looking in the next few days then I don't know that I will keep taking it at this elevated level.
a lot more from it then I might keep it but at this point I really don't know.

Diet is number one. Even if creating is sole cause of bloat, you can always pull it at the 11th hour before the challenge is over. But don’t get fidgety just because your abs have water over them. You know the creatine certainly isn’t affecting fat loss/gain remotely.

Give it time, unless you are getting diarrhea or the like.

I am definitely giving it time. I think in another weeks time I should be able to tell if the creatine has really added much. We shall see and who knows I might be 212 by now and looking relatively tight for that amount of gain too. More than anything I am frustrated with getting sick the first week of the run and it breaking my stride.

Like I mentioned in the challenge thread, I am 209 with a lot of muscle and the highest my calories got last week was in the 2400's. I must be burning fat, I just don't think it is possible that I am not. Thanks for reminding me to be patient. Like you said I can always drop extra water weight before the end of this easily.

I just want to make sure I keep an eye on my kidneys with all the creatine. Right now everything looks good but keeping an eye on fluid clearance and whatnot. I am not sure that creatine is actually bad for kidneys or it is just the fact that creatine is unstable and a lot of it turns to creatinine once in a liquid solution. So is it the kidneys are working harder that increases creatinine levels or just introducing a lot of creatine that increases the creatinine levels.

As a reminder, I have some minor scarring on my kidneys from a nasty bout with strep infecting the kidney when I was 12 years old. My levels are always just a tiny bit above normal, that is my baseline and I stay in the 1.4-1.6 range at all times. My BUN ratio which is the most important tends to be in the upper end of midrange for normal ranges. So function is good, but this is a lot of creatine so that is why my eyes are on this so much. If it looks like I am actually having any trouble clearing fluids or notice any edema then I will pull the plug on the creatine completely. I have used it without problems before but never in the 30mg range.

Oh, I started out with 20 yesterday but added another 10g in pre workout. So I did make it to my 30g yesterday as well.

Took a walk last night, nothing special. Training tonight. Gonna do some legs, and then some GPP and conditioning.

Macros for yesterday 133p/80f/151c for a total of 1946 calories.

Some good workouts this weekend. Again I did not track anything too much. I just went in and got the job done. I am definitely noticing more size right now. Also my digestion has taken the normal hit that it does with Var. Not as bad as other times, but yeah still having some indigestion issues. Also seems like food had a longer clearance time once in the gut.

Normally if I have a big but easy to digest meal in the evening my stomach is kind of flat by morning. The last few days I have felt maybe a little distended when waking up. It clears out within a couple hours of fasting but it is definitely taking me longer to digest things.

I feel like somehow I am gaining even though I am on limited calories, I feel bigger everywhere and holy crap the pumps are stupid right now. I think to really see some fat come off in the next 3 weeks I am going to have to really crush calories and add in a good bit of cardio.

I weighed myself the other day after 1 meal and was 213 and some change so I am definitely bigger than a week ago. I plan on weighing in tomorrow morning and try to take a couple pics as well.

It is a nice day today so I plan on going out and getting in some good exercise during lunch. Tonight is not a lift night and I have a contractor coming over to do a new estimate since the house was leveled and a lot of things changed. Excited to get that stuff going now. Really want the house back in order!!!

On the nights you don’t train are you limiting carbs and doing primarily fats and protein in your food window, or is it whatever as long as it’s in the window and doesn’t break calorie limit?

I have been limiting carbs on non training days, but not removing them completely. I would say carbs tend to be in the 50-75g range on non lifting days.

Although, at this point in the game I am thinking I might just go keto for the next 3 weeks and just have a refeed or two in that window ala Carb Nite. Just cut out the performance focus for a month or so to drop the fat quickly, then move back toward a Carb Backloading approach. Really isn't going to be too much else that will make a noticeable difference in 3 weeks.

I am frustrated with myself for never really getting motivated with this challenge. Still trying to make the best of what is left of it.

I just got back in from a nice hour long walk at lunch.

Well guys, just as i expected, I am gaining size even in this deficit. I am up over 4lbs since last week. I have decided to go with keto for the next 9 days and then do a Carb nite, and then go to doing 1 carb nite a week for a little while until I am closer to my goals. Calories will be kept around 2000 except refeeds / carb nights.

Anyway, here I sit up over 5 lbs since starting the Var, and looking just a tiny bit leaner we shall just have to watch and see where this goes from here. With the bigger drop in calories on top of the lack of carbs I think we should see some accelerated results here pretty soon.

Either way here are the pics.

I did 2 hours of "cardio like activity" yesterday I went for my brisk walk at lunch, and then did an hour long bike ride with my daughter last night as well.

Well to be honest 15 minutes of the bike ride was swinging at the park with my daughter. I turned it into a resistance exercise and a pretty good one at that. I just pull apart on the chains of the swings and rowed into them. By the end of that my back was toasty, I was pumped and my forearms were too tired to hold onto the chains. I also did a lot of the swinging in a flexed hollow position to double down and get some core in as well. Heck the time spent swinging might have been more intense than the bike ride.

Thanks Rocket3015!

I killed it in the garage tonight! Focused on the goal of creating a high level of epoc via intensity and short rest periods.

Speed Front squats - 45x15 95x10, 135x5 225x3 EMOM x 8 minutes / rounds. I went until the reps started slowing down. Man this had me breathing like a freight train.

Sissy Leg Press and calf press 45 seconds rest - 2 sets at 440 to rpe9 3 sets 350 rpe 9.

Prowler sprints - 30 yards x 5 sets and 45 seconds rest. These had me gassed for a minute and my hamstrings and calves lit up!

Mace swings - 3 sets of 5 per side

Man I am already feeling that workout from last night. It was a beast!

On top of that I completed my 2nd day of keto yesterday and already seeing more tightening up. :) I think things are really going to happen fast.

I hate to admit it but I fell off of using the 30mg creatine a day. I have a pre workout up here with 5g in it and am going to take it today, then get more in tonight and start back over. I have only missed 3 days of it but going to add it back in and see how things go.

I am also paying for 1 year of bike rental here in downtown for $65, they have the city bikes you can just go grab and ride and return elsewhere. Just 3 speeds but plenty to get some riding in during lunch.

I am pretty sunburned today, been out walking at lunch both days this week then driving home with the top down my head is toasty. I am going to more than likely stay inside today. That or go get some sunscreen. I might just go give blood again, get my hematocrit down just a tiny bit more. I want to try and maintain it around 40-45 and I think this next one will get me pretty close to 45.

I don't know if I mentioned this or not but I decided to drop my TRT dose to 100 a week temporarily. One reason is to see how this single dose strategy works with the Var, the other is that I think my prostate is taking more of a beating than it needs to at 150 a week. That keeps me in the 1000-1200 range and I don't really think I need much more than 600-800 for the best health. I am also probably going to go to an endo to get my TRT squared away with the concierge type service. May even request some HCG I think it might be out of pocket for that use but still. I want to see what it feels like when the doc gets me to where my blood work is looking ideal.

More than a little bit frustrated today. It looks like if my pleas were not heard that my work schedule will be moving from 8:30-5:00 to 9:30-6:00PM. This would effectively trash my entire schedule, cost me about 5 hours a week in drive time as well as double my transportation budget. Right now the wife and I carpool in but if they don't agree to let me adjust the schedule a little bit then that will stop and I will have to either sit in an extra hour in traffic a day, or ride the bus in which would still get me to work an hour before my shift...

So not happy with this change. I counter offered to continue coming in @ 8:30AM - and leave at 5:30 but take a 90 minute lunch. We only work a 37.5 hour work week at my job. If they agree with that then not much has to change on my end, and I have extra time for stuff at lunch. I tend to get stuck here waiting on the wife after work anyway so leaving at 5:30 instead of 5 wouldn't be too much of a change...

Hopefully they agree, they just want me here for insurance in case we have any late night video conferences that need started. Offering until 5:30 still gives them more time and I said I would stay late for any videos that popped up if needed as they were scheduled.

I sent that request a few hours ago with no response so now I am getting antsy... If they say no the logistics become a serious pain in the ass! JoAnn would have to ride the bus in at 7:00 then I would drive in to work @9. Then she would have to come to get my car and drive home, then me ride the bus home when I get off... That is the MOST convenient way for us to deal with it and not mess up the rest of our life schedule.

So wish me luck guys, this could really become a pain in the ass, and an expense if they don't agree.

this is the exact reason I said I would never take a job that required commuting into a major city... I would rather get on a plane at 5am and fly across the country, then drive 2hrs into the boonies to get to work than sit in traffic ha

Hope it works out for you at work.

Still in here killing it and looking good! Keep up the great work

MrKleen73 That sucks brother. I have sat in that Houston traffic. First thing that came out of my mouth was I could never live here!

When my company moved to another town about 5 years ago I changed my hours to 7:00-4:30 to try to miss most of the traffic jams. If I get out of the office @ 5:00 it costs me 20-25 min. (I can't even imagine Houston at rush hour) my experience was on the weekends!

MrKleen73 What kind of work do you do ?
I am IT Support in a massive law firm.
Hope it works out for you at work.

Still in here killing it and looking good! Keep up the great work

I am sure I will figure some things out regardless. Fingers still crossed they decide to go with my idea. My manager is cool with it, just depends on if his boss is.

The fastest I have gotten here without being on the HOV was 50 minutes but it normally takes at least an hour. It normally takes me 25 minutes from my house to parking at work when I get to use the HOV lane. Getting home is even worse.
Best of luck! Hopefully they understand how impacting this is

Apparently his manager just said that they will test how this goes but she (his boss) would really prefer I be there until 6:00 PM. So we shall see how it all works out in the end. For now though the schedule isn't changing too much. Same time in, out 30 minutes later and have 90 minutes for lunch.

Well that’s hopefully what sticks!

If not I am already planning my morning workouts... I won't have time for them in the evenings.

Good luck! I didn't know you worked for a law firm. Most attorneys that I know work long hours and probably expect everyone else to do the same.
That is one reason I didn't go into law. I remember my Dad telling me it's tough to be a lawyer and have time for your wife & kids.
This coming from a man that had his own company and worked long hours. He did however always make time to attend my games even in college.

Glad I live in a small town, it takes me about 10 minutes to get to work !!

My store is downstairs. It takes me under a minute to go there. :) Beat that!
I work from home so there's that

But I'm curious when you say downstairs you mean like underneath your house or what... Trying to picture your empire in Paraguay. At least what it looks like in my mind lol.

Tonight wasn’t a planned workout but I did an upper body body weight workout.

Mixed grip pull ups- 8 sets of 5
Pushups 2 minutes max x 62 was for a promotion but I petered out quick already being a little depleted and them having to be full lockout.
Dips 33, 27, 22, 17

That was plenty for me for an extra
Workout. Had a massive pump too

Exactly. Underneath the house.

hopefully it works out for you! I'm with the rest...since my 1st job in High School, I've never needed more than 10 minutes worth of travel time, to and from work in my PV...if I ever needed to travel to a site, it has always been on the clock and in a work vehicle...but I work with plenty of people who have commutes of 60-90 mins, each way.

Omg!!!!!!

Not much cooking in my basement.

Awwww look he has a softer side. Notice the red heart on the head board. Lets not pretend HGP wouldn't need a ladder to hook up with anyone in that sling! :) I know I would!

Feeling good today, still noticing I am a little distended in the AM. Some of it is probably no carbs, and less fiber causing less intestinal motility. I either need to increase my nut intake or add in a sugar free fiber product.

My legs are sore from the other day and man can I feel my back from the pull ups yesterday. My pants are nice and tight in the legs and butt while loose in the waist now too. I am definitely growing and leaning out. Had a guy in the lobby tell me I was looking massive just this morning. He also works out and we have had a few conversations about it so he felt familiar enough to say he noticed which was cool.

Of course I told him I was actually leaning up and it was making me look bigger which is true but from 207.5 to 213.4 in 10 days while getting leaner is why I am looking so big right now. :D

You would almost think that I was eating carbs with how full my muscle feel but man I can feel the last of the glycogen burning out of them and that initial period where it is easier to gas the muscle out due to no fuel... Once I get more efficient making ATP from fats that will get better. That and adding in all the creatine.

I had to explain to a woman this morning why it was safe for her son to take creatine. So he’s probably gonna make some gainz now

Yeah that old mindset from the early 90's still lingers on... Got to love what effects careless media scare mongering has even 20+ years later.

I remember my mom freaking out on me for asking her to buy me creatine cause it was just like steroids back when i was like 15-16. Funny

At my last job I had a doctor I worked with warn me against taking creatine and tell me it was one of her absolute least favorite supplements because of the associated risks (referring to proposed effects on the kidney). I dont really blame her though, only the jackasses who educated her on the topic whenever that was.

With that being said, as an ER doc she doesnt really need to be too educated on the topic. I'd trust her to save me if I was about to die...so I guess its a trade off for all the intricate and complex **** she does know.
